Starting to really like the SSB Squat. For all the smarter strength coaches out there: genuine question for discussion and learning. 🧠 Besides total body strength, why would we ever need to barbell back squat if we have access to SSB bars?

Don’t ask me why I’m using this weight cause this is equivalent to a 100 kg barbell squat in my book. 🫠

If that’s your Smith machine squat, I can’t even imagine what your barbell squat looks like. No wonder you made poor gains over the last 3 years of barbell squatting. And I don’t believe you made any major gains after switching to the Smith machine either, if that’s the way you squat.

Gym maturity is realizing you don’t have to Barbell Squat AT ALL You can just do a Hack Squat or a Pendulum Squat or a Smith Squat and get all the benefits while reducing injury risk and lowering fatigue cost

This is a coaching problem. You don’t know what you don’t know. I’m not even a squat absolutist but guys with long femurs and short torsos can squat just fine with an adjustment of mechanics. A more horizontal back angle is not “wrong” so long as the barbell stays centered over midfoot. I’m a long femur short torso guy myself. Here is a perfectly fine paused high bar squat.

I did this 140kg / 308lbs x 5 barbell squat easily last week. This week, I needed a spotter to finish the same set. Why does strength fluctuate like this? 😭

Sequin embroidery sarees were omnipresent a decade ago. Don’t know why I am not seeing much of them anymore these days . May be the generation changes are really happening. Or may be they are now being exclusively used as party wear. These days I am seeing only a few Bollywood celebrities wearing them.
