You learn by making mistakes. If no one is there to tell you you’re messing up, you will learn nothing. I’m a Gen X’er and my kids were brought up this way. If they made a mistake, they knew it. They also knew why it was a mistake and how to correct it.

Mr. Wizard didn’t give participation trophies. And we still loved him.
