🚨Steve Holland on Manchester United’s summer midfield plans with Carlos Baleba, Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson all under consideration: 🗣️ “Manchester United’s priority is to build a midfield that can control games, win duels and still have the technical quality to play progressive football. The ideal midfielder for Manchester United today is someone who can defend large spaces, recover possession, progress the ball quickly and contribute in both phases of play. That’s why different profiles are being discussed. Sandro Tonali is attractive because he is already proven at the highest level. He brings leadership, intensity, tactical intelligence and experience in big matches. Carlos Baleba offers physical dominance, athleticism and defensive security. He has the profile to become one of the best ball-winning midfielders in Europe. Elliot Anderson is admired because of his energy, versatility and ability to carry the ball through midfield. He understands the pace of the Premier League and has shown he can influence games consistently. Mateus Fernandes is viewed differently. The club sees him as a player with huge potential, technical quality and room to develop, but also understands that he is not yet as proven as some of the other names being considered. The reason Tonali, Anderson and Baleba are receiving so much attention is because they fit the immediate need for reliability and physical presence in midfield. Manchester United want players who can compete now while also helping build the foundation for the future. The club likes Fernandes, but when comparing profiles, Tonali, Anderson and Baleba are seen as players who can impact the team immediately while still having their best years ahead of them.” {TNT Sports }

WHY Yan Diomande Could Finally Balance Real Madrid's Attack... For years, Real Madrid's attack has leaned heavily towards the left. With Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé both gravitating into similar areas, the right flank has often lacked a natural outlet capable of stretching the pitch and creating consistent one-versus-one situations. That's exactly what Yan Diomande could change. He's an explosive dribbler who thrives in isolation, covers huge distances without the ball and has the work rate José Mourinho demands from his wide players. More importantly, he gives Madrid something they've been missing: genuine width on the right. But Diomande is more than just an athlete. He constantly scans for runners, looks to play forward and has the imagination to create chances from seemingly impossible situations. The execution will improve with experience, but the vision is already there. At a reported fee north of €100m, the expectations will be enormous. Yet through the Telstar Transfer Index, which adjusts historic transfer fees for football inflation, the investment looks far more in line with other extremely talented young wingers of the modern era. If Mourinho can develop Diomande's raw talent while giving Madrid the balance they've lacked for years, this could be one of the most important signings of the summer. Madrid fans, is Yan Diomande the missing piece in your attack? 👀⚪ 📹Samson Kalnińş Brough

🚨David Ornstein on Manchester United’s position regarding Marcus Rashford and Mateus Fernandes: 🗣️ “Manchester United’s stance on Marcus Rashford remains unchanged. The club is open to listening to offers and there is a growing feeling internally that a permanent separation would be the best outcome for all parties. While Rashford remains a player of significant quality, United’s focus is on building a new project and reshaping the squad. Regarding Mateus Fernandes, Manchester United appreciate the player’s talent and potential. However, the club does not currently believe the reported valuation represents good value in the market. United’s recruitment team views Fernandes as a promising midfielder with a bright future, but there is caution about committing such a substantial fee. If West Ham fail to lower their asking price, Manchester United are prepared to move on and pursue alternative targets. The club has a number of midfielders on its shortlist and does not intend to become involved in a prolonged transfer saga. Among the names being considered are Sandro Tonali, Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, Ederson and Aurélien Tchouaméni. United believe those players offer different qualities but are all capable of strengthening the midfield immediately. The priority remains signing a midfielder who can bring athleticism, control, defensive security and leadership to the team. As things stand, Fernandes remains admired, but Manchester United will not hesitate to explore other options if they feel the financial demands do not align with the player’s current market value.” {Sky News }

🚨 Chelsea's interest in John Stones says a lot about the type of game Xabi Alonso plans to play and the type of players he wants... more than people realise. This isn't just about signing an experienced centre-back. It's about signing a defender who can completely transform the first phase of build-up. At his best, John Stones isn't just a centre-back. He's a midfielder in disguise. He steps into midfield effortlessly, breaks opposition pressing lines with his passing, creates overloads and allows his team to dominate possession without sacrificing defensive stability. That's exactly what made Pep Guardiola's Manchester City so difficult to press. Now imagine that in Xabi Alonso's system. Xabi doesn't just want defenders who can defend. He wants players comfortable receiving the ball under pressure, carrying it forward and dictating the tempo from deep. John Stones has done that for years at the highest level. His ability to drift into midfield also gives Chelsea tactical flexibility. The shape can change from a back three to a back four or even a box midfield within seconds without making a substitution. That makes pressing Chelsea far more complicated. It also explains why Xabi appears to be targeting technically gifted defenders rather than traditional stoppers. Yes, Stones has struggled with injuries in recent years, so that's a genuine concern. But from a tactical perspective, the interest makes perfect sense because it reflects the identity Xabi wants this Chelsea side to have: calm in possession, dominant in build-up and intelligent enough to control games with the ball. #CFC #ChelseaChampions #ChelseaFC

🚨Fabrizio Romano on Manchester United’s pursuit of Mateus Fernandes: 🗣️ “I can confirm that after several rounds of discussions, Manchester United have submitted an opening proposal for Mateus Fernandes worth around £40 million plus add-ons. At this stage, West Ham are reluctant to accept the offer as they value the player significantly higher and believe his long-term potential justifies a larger fee. Negotiations remain ongoing, but there is currently a gap between the two clubs’ valuations. Manchester United appreciate Fernandes’ profile and see him as a young midfielder capable of developing into an important player in the coming years. However, the club is also aware of other opportunities in the market and will not allow negotiations to drag on indefinitely. Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali, Elliot Anderson and Ederson remain among the midfield names being monitored internally. United’s recruitment team has spent months assessing different profiles in order to strengthen the centre of the pitch. The club’s priority is to secure a young midfielder who can contribute immediately while also becoming a key part of the long-term project. Only after that position is addressed will Manchester United fully accelerate plans in other areas of the squad. Several defensive and attacking targets continue to be evaluated, but midfield remains the primary focus for now. The coming weeks will be important in determining whether a compromise can be reached with West Ham or whether Manchester United decide to move on to alternative targets.” {Fabrizio Romano }

After the signing of FDJ, Barca never spent on midfielders. Pedri was a smart signing made through scouting. But Barca never signed an established midfielder except Frank Kissie who came for free. VICTOR MOW FROHOLDT👾🪄 I know his signing will be very expensive looking at the prices of Tonali & Mateus. But Victor is a generational machine in the midfield. A proper B2B profile, standing at 1.88m tall is highly effective at recycling possession under pressure and finding open pockets in the half-spaces. He's very direct robust & crucial with his runs demonstrated sharp penalty-box instincts with late & untracked runs into the area. Defensively, He's very good at shield the ball cleanly, a high pressing midfielder & high workrate Athlete similar to Gordon. He's got great spatial awareness and defensive positioning. A very go-to midfielder which Flick will love having. At Bayern he had Kimmich & Thiago as orchestrators which is Pedri at Barca but he had Leon Goretzka who was the lungs in the midfield. Hansi Flick loves an interior CM who makes late, untracked diagonal runs into the penalty area (similar to Leon Goretzka’s role under Flick at Bayern Munich). Victor Froholdt has a 85m Release Clause in his contract which can be brought down as Porto are interested in Rooney, thus a deal around 50m could be possible. Andréas Christensen u have a job & that's to bring your Danish teammate home. Barcelona must make the next big signing in the midfield & bringing Victor Froholdt will shake things up surely. Imagine a midfield of Pedri - Bernal/Gavi - Froholdt that's epic orchestratory destruction & heaven like Workrate. Bring the next Danish Superstar to SUNNY BLAUGRANA. 💙❤️
