I never understood the black obsession with representation in anime. It's a Japanese genre 🤷‍♂️. Why can't black people create their own anime studio and make their own anime? I remember Sony Pictures, a Japanese-owned movie studio, fought to cast Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in Bad Boys, while other studios wanted Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz instead. I think Will Smith and Martin Lawrence were right for the parts, and Sony did the right thing. Most blacks these days want representation for the sake of representation... in JAPANESE anime.

Will claimed that during the making of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, he found out Martin had been secretly shopping a solo Bad Boys spin-off to Netflix and Amazon behind his back — a project that would have made Marcus Burnett the main character and written Mike Lowrey out almost completely.
