I'm using the new Metal passthrough mode in vision OS 2 beta. There is still a great deal to do. I need to sort out a number of bugs and limitations (which Twitter compression kindly hides), and get more of the rendering performance features working with foveated rendering.

Yes, cells are super dense. @dsgoodsell shows this in his illustrations of cellular environments (he's one of the scientists who built the cell model we're using in CellWalk). This is my favorite painting, a cross section through a neuron's axon (and topical given your background!)

Zooming around a 300 million atom bacteria cell on my iPad in a beautiful cafe (my favorite ever actually). I was working on an update for the slice UI today. The cafe is Terarosa on Jeju island S Korea (southern branch). Good coffee, but an even better atmosphere! Looking forward to home though :) CellWalk #scicomm #gamedev #ipad

Twenty-five years of working with RNA taught one medical biochemist three things you should never do with it: modify it, stabilize it, or inject it. The mRNA COVID vaccine did all three, and I asked him to walk me through why that's important. He described RNA as the blueprint of a cell, the instructions it uses to translate into proteins that do the actual work. If that blueprint is modified mid-construction, you don't get the protein you designed. You get fragments, and he said that's what is being produced in the majority of cases after the modification and injection of the spike protein RNA. The greater danger is reverse transcription. When the RNA template persists in the cell long enough, it can be converted back into DNA. A cell with more DNA than it should have is something every physician recognizes. It's called aneuploidy, and it's a transformed cell. It's cancer. He told me that, in his assessment as someone who has spent his career studying exactly this biology, the impact of all of this is beyond a disaster.

I've built an XR prototype with Rémi at In The Pocket where you can stand inside your knowledge base on Apple Vision Pro. Ask a question and the AI lights up the relevant documents in space, so you literally see where your answer comes from. When you ask something specific like "I want to be an astronaut, what can I learn", only a few tight clusters glow. But ask "I'm bored, what could be something fun to study" and clusters across the space light up. #applevisionpro #artificialintelligence #xr #rag

This is insane!🔥 This is a 720p (2D) video I shot of my kids 15 years ago! I used AI to upscale it, depth-map it, & used the depth map to convert it to 3D SBS, & then converted that to Spatial Video for Apple Vision Pro (MV-HEVC). My son is currently a senior in high school, and my daughter is a sophomore in college. This video has complete spatial depth when viewed in the Apple Vision Pro. Obviously, you can't appreciate that via this post. But it's like I'm there & I can see into this room. Talk about giving you the feels.🥹 This can be done with ANY video. 🤯 I'm working on refining the workflow, as it's a bit cumbersome. I plan to share it, but holy cow! I had to post this.

But I had special SpaceX access in Texas to a Starship launch (2X the power) Where I was allowed to get 4 times closer than NASA allows. Look at how close I was. This was my cell phone.
