Zooming around a bacteria cell. It's so cool I just got the cell imported (including lipids) and rendering correctly with the new rendering engine (it's called Angstrom). 3x performance boost! So much detail (too much?!) #screenshotsunday #gamedev #scicomm #xcode #swiftlang

New paper from Apple - Sharp Monocular View Synthesis in Less than a Second Mescheder et al. @ Apple just released a very impressive paper (congrats! 🎉🥳). You give it an image and it generates a really great looking 3d Gaussian representation. Uses depth pro. It's really good. The model is about 3GB, and takes ~5-10s on my M1 Max per image. Single feedforward pass network. The video is using "Metal Splatter" to view the .ply from ml-sharp on Apple Vision Pro. Some really wow moments today trying it on different scenes.

Zooming around a 300 million atom bacteria cell on my iPad in a beautiful cafe (my favorite ever actually). I was working on an update for the slice UI today. The cafe is Terarosa on Jeju island S Korea (southern branch). Good coffee, but an even better atmosphere! Looking forward to home though :) CellWalk #scicomm #gamedev #ipad

WIP: This is magic! I'm walking around a bacteria cell in #AppleVisionPro!!! It's an atomistic cell model (you can see atoms when I get close to something). I just got this prototype working in CellWalk's renderer. #science #biology #scicomm #education #gamedev #apple

Just plugged an iPad Pro into a 49" monitor to try/test CellWalk, haha. This is so cool. This little rendering engine has come so far... 300 million atoms on a 49" monitor using a mobile GPU is crazy. #gamedev #scicomm #ios

Suddenly a wild Mycoplasma appears! I'm getting ready for #WWDC23. This is going to be insane in the Apple VR headset. So excited! 😆 It's a 250 million atom bacterial cell model rendered in real-time on an iPad (or iPhone). #gamedev #scicomm #vr

WIP: Getting CellWalk ready for iPhone. I just completed performance optimizations (~30% improvement). This week I'm updating and working on the UI. #screenshotsunday #iosdev #gamedev #scicomm #screenshotsaturday
