Views from the 24 Fire outside Fort Carson, now over 1,126 acres. The fire is making a run this afternoon. “Highway 115 remains clear and the fire made a significant run to the east and north. Air resources are working along the west flank of the fire per incident command. High winds and hot, dry temperatures have increased the fire’s activity, with the fire now standing at approximately 1,126 acres and 0% containment. There are currently 125 firefighters from local, state, and federal partners on the ground” Thanks to the subscriber who shared these views of operations on the ground.

VCFD along with LA County Fire and CAL FIRE are on scene of a brush fire south of the 126 FWY, east of Piru. The fire is currently reported at 50 acres with a moderate rate of spread in medium fuels and located in steep terrain with difficult access. Firefighters are aggressively working from the air and ground to attack the fire. Multiple fixed wing aircraft and helicopters are assigned to the incident along with over 100 firefighters assigned to the incident. Evacuation warnings have been issued for areas east of Lake Piru to the Los Angeles County line. Residents are encouraged to follow for the latest updates on evacuations.

The fire has burned 13,790 acres and is 15% contained. Engines, dozers, hand crews, helicopters, and airtankers are all working together to slow the fire, reinforce containment lines, and protect communities in the area. CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 6 is coordinating this large-scale response. A Damage Assessment Team is in place and are actively inspecting structures. Arizona: The Dragon Bravo Fire is now 116,592 acres with 12% containment. Critical Fire weather has returned to the fire area with relative humidities dropping to 10% and 35 MPH winds. Crews are working on the North edge to keep the fire from flanking around the Kane Fire burn scar from 2023. On the southwest they are hoping to see reduced spread due to the 2003 Poplar Fire burn scar. The biggest threat of the fire jumping the containment lines is on the northern edge, crews remain vigilant and are strengthening the lines in that area and quickly respond if the fire spots across the line. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this view of the fire.

#autofire; The Auto Fire is now at 50% containment and 61 acres. Overnight, firefighter addresses small, isolated flare ups and stubborn pockets of heat across the fire perimeter. The fire remains static in its original footprint with no anticipated growth. Today, firefighters continue patrolling and reinforcing containment lines as well as addressing deep seated smoldering brush piles well inside the perimeter. Resources from VCFD and Ventura City Fire include Type 3 and Type 6 engines, a hand crew, water tender and one of our UAS / Drone pilots. Firefighters will remain on scene until this fire is fully contained. An IR flight of the fire by one of our UAS / Drone pilots shows the pockets of heat firefighters are working to address. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
