Working on an article for Monday. It's very long. In an effort to make long form content more interesting than just a wall of text, I'm building interactive elements inside the articles. Here's a quick look at one of them.

love it! made something similar here

YES!!!! Love me a living essay.

Dang. it's not gonna be THAT crazy

What’s funny is that I saw your’s and thought “god, I’ll never be on that level”.

@round 💚 Fond memories of these ui kits

I like this maximally-fun era you’re in

fun times

The art-directed blog posts era was amazing. You leading the charge for a comeback is awesome!

It’s gonna make a comeback

The simpler times of design, I miss them.

i’m long whatever this is

I can't wait to see this in action! And it's good to read you again.

You’ve been cookin’ lately. Love to see it

Thanks! Happy cake day!

Me on Monday.

the physics of how it stops in place when you let go of the drag, like it has real weight. that's cool.

Spent entirely too much time on it. Real light sources to manipulate sheen on the black metal. Glass aberration and live reflections. Cast shadows, weight and gravity to the object and sound effects like sliding on paper. So dumb.

for the love of the game

@round This brings back so many memories

This brings me back.

These iOS kits you made back in the day were the best, without you guys I probably never would’ve gotten interested in ui design in the early 2010’s

Lens details are so cool, and warping.

Man you’re on a roll right now. So cool to seeing you more publicly cooking!

Thanks Kurt. Never stopped, but X kinda sucked until recently.

Ah! Love this!

@round the cursor shouldn’t be centered over the loupe, or else it blocks what I might be looking at. Try an Aperture-style loop where a handle extrudes the ring and that’s where the cursor could sit!

Consider the design methods used in magazines. They make long form content more interesting than just a wall of text.

Damn it. It's been a fucking while. Am I time traveler?

It’s a supporting element in the article. It’ll make more sense when you see it in context. Context: we are all building shit now. It is definitely a lot of work to turn something from an internal tool into something useable for others, but I think it’s sometimes worth it.

Nice

I love things like these

Wow, really love this

A long article usually asks for patience; the loupe turns one screen into a small job for the reader. Which interaction survives the novelty best: inspecting evidence, changing a parameter, or revealing the next claim?
