NEWS: Google is rolling out AI-powered EV trip planning and battery predictions in Google Maps to over 350 car models with Android Auto. The update recommends when and where to charge based on your vehicle and battery level, showing estimated battery at arrival and adjusting ETAs with charging time, something that Tesla already does, but this Google Maps update will reduce the need for multiple apps in non-Tesla EVs. Google: "To deliver accurate battery predictions for hundreds of vehicles, we combine AI with advanced energy models that analyze car details — like weight and battery size — alongside Maps’ real-time information about traffic, road elevation and weather. This will allow us to bring intelligent trip-planning features to most U.S. EVs soon."

"Again, the "worst of both worlds" applies to the 2018 BMW G30 eDrive Hybrid, whose complete battery pack is so worn out that repair isn't feasible without replacing all modules. This vehicle has only covered 150,000 km, yet it requires a new 9 kWh battery pack costing €11,000. Despite active thermal control, the cells have degraded and inflated under high current rates, where a small battery supports a large powertrain. ELON: MEGAPACK WILL BE SO POWERFUL, YOU WON’T NEED A SUBSTATION “We keep improving the battery design, so the MegaBlock makes it really easy to deploy battery, you know, utility scale batteries. We’ve just simplified and brought more of the components to be internal to the batteries, so you can just drop off a battery and it works. Hopefully over time we will actually add more and more of the power electronics so that MegaPack will be able to output up to 35 kilovolts directly. You won’t need a substation. People always love to ask, "What are you going to do when the battery goes on your Tesla?" This 2019 Model 3 RWD owned by Eric @ Drive Protected ™ still had the ORIGINAL battery and rear motor after 381,000 miles (613,000 km). Even after all those miles, the battery retained 70% capacity. He decided to bring new life to the car by swapping the original NCA pack for a modern LFP pack from a newer Model 3. The original pack was still perfectly functional, the swap was just for performance. Swapping a battery in a Tesla is much quicker than people think. In just a few hours, the orginal battery was removed then replaced with a LFP pack. Once configured via the computer, the car is perfectly functional. There’s no huge mess, not a lot of wires, it’s actually very simple once you are experienced with it. His Model 3 now functions and charges like a newer car. Tesla vehicles are designed from the ground up to be very serviceable.

Guys, you won’t believe what happened to my brother yesterday. 😭 He got home around 11 p.m., parked his car outside and went to sleep. The next morning, he came out to use the car and noticed the bonnet was open. He opened it and… his battery was gone! 😭💔 He called his mechanic and told him he was scared to buy another battery because the thieves might come back. Later that evening, they went to a battery shop to get a replacement. The first shop was closed, so they entered another one. Guys… guess what my brother saw on the floor? HIS OWN BATTERY! 😭😭 He had written his name on the battery because it was brand new, so there was no mistake. They asked the person who brought it, and he claimed he bought it from someone else. They called that person… And it was the actual thief! The most shocking part? The thief was just a 13–14-year-old boy. 😭 He even demonstrated exactly how he opened the bonnet and removed the battery. That’s the video you’re seeing here. And guess how much he sold a ₦120,000 battery for? ₦15,000! 😭💔 Imagine waking up to discover your battery is gone, then finding your own battery in a shop the next evening. 😂😭 This country sha… you really have to watch everything. NEWS: BYD today ‌unveiled its second-generation Blade Battery with "Flash Charging 2.0" • LFP • Peak charging speed: 1,500kW • 20% to 97% charge in under 12 minutes, even at -20°C (-4°F) • Charges 10% to 70% in 5 mins • 5% higher energy density • BYD has increased the guaranteed capacity retention rate by 2.5% and promised a lifetime warranty on the battery cells • Delivers a driving range of up to 1,006 km (621 miles) on the (optimistic) CLTC cycle, an improvement from the ~600 km (373 miles) range in the first-generation Blade Battery. The new battery would likely mean a 450 mile range if tested on the EPA cycle. • Ten BYD models will be the first to feature the battery • The Yangwang U7, equipped with a 150-kWh battery pack, "achieves a pure electric range of 1,006 km, while the fully electric Denza Z9GT have a range of up to 1,036 km" on CLTC cycle. We were first in world for 1 cells swap…but… Is it possible to repair any high-voltage battery (HVB)? In reality—no, not always. The end-of-life for an HVB depends heavily on mileage, aging, cell type, C-rate, and the overall design and lifespan expectations. Repairability varies significantly depending on whether the pack uses pouch, prismatic, blade, or cylindrical cells—and whether the failure occurs early or late in its life. If the battery fails early in its lifecycle, repairs are usually feasible. However, if it fails after reaching its intended lifespan, any repair tends to be more of a temporary “patch” until a replacement pack is sourced. From experience for cellswap: •Blade and some pouch cells are nearly impossible to repair. •Prismatic cells are difficult. •Cylindrical cells are the easiest to repair—depending on the pack design. (* module change not a topic) This is why it’s encouraging that BMW, Hyundai, Mercedes, and Porsche have finally begun adopting cylindrical cell designs, moving away from less reliable pouch cells—albeit a decade too late. For example, a Tesla Model S 100D battery can last up to 600,000km in Model S and 450,000km in Model X. The older 85 kWh pack in the S85 can even reach 600,000 km. However, the same pack in the high-performance P85D tends to degrade around 400,000 km, requiring full replacement due to total deterioration. In summary: Yes, battery repair is possible—but only if the pack is still within its designed service life.
