It is hard to say, FSD could be just treating the officer as a pedestrian, waited for him to pass. OTOH, by all indications from all AV players, recognizing CLEAR hand gestures is going to be a solved problem soon if not already solved.

Well i think it’s pretty obvious that it’s not treating the guy as a regular pedestrian because he was out of our way for the first part of the video and he had his back turned to us

Need more before the 1st part of the video to have proper context. The video started also with a bunch of vehicles turning in front of FSD.

Yes. Doesn’t mean it would get it right every time but it does understand hand signals imo

Just the other day I ran into a similar situation and actually disengaged as it through me off, it started rolling even though the signaler was holding a stop sign, but he was still waiving me on. Made no sense, but FSD followed his hand signs over the stop sign, which was right.

Pretty hard to argue against.

That little tiny blip of acceleration at the first hand signal then the wait and then going when he was entirely clear makes it seem very likely it understood the hand signal. It's also what I probably would've done in that situation.

No. The SUV ahead was slowing too. Without telemetry you can't separate gesture recognition from cautious following. One clip is an anecdote, not data.

No FSD is very sensitive to people, with or without hand signals. Last thing they want is the car hitting a person
