The Noor amendment would block DHS from taking the same action it took last summer to shut down the most fraudulent Medicaid program in state history. It would prohibit DHS from ending a Medicaid program or requesting federal assistance without waiting for the Legislature. That means if another program were found to be 90% fraudulent during the interim, DHS would be forced to keep it running until 2027, unless the Governor called a special session. That is not responsible governance. The executive branch should be able to act quickly and decisively to stop fraud, not be forced to look the other way. Plain and simple, the Noor amendment would have allowed fraud to continue during the interim. Thankfully, House Republicans stopped it.
