XB-1 successfully completed its 4th–and fastest–test flight today. Here’s a view from the T-38 chase plane keeping up with XB-1, which reached a max speed of Mach 0.617 (313 KIAS)–more than halfway to breaking the sound barrier at Mach 1. Read more:

Boom's XB-1 is making waves, and I'm loving the progress - over halfway to breaking the sound barrier. Reminds me of the potential we had in Germany's space sector, if only we could get our act together on sustainable aerospace policies.

XB-1 Flight Four ✅ Very successful flight this morning. Airplane performed great, with a new top speed of Mach 0.6 and 2.5G maneuvers. Only lowlight: FES didn’t cooperate for M0.6 test point. So we’re pulling it out and shipping to vendor. Maybe back in the air in 3-4 weeks.
