XPeng X9 comes equipped with two lidars. It hit a trailer while NGP was activated. LiDAR is a fool’s errand. Elon Musk is right about it.

@elonmusk The driver had about 2 days to take over.

Bro, not all lidar sensors are built the same. Light interference (from other lidar and the sun as you can see in this case) is a big issue. The majority of car brands are going CHEAP with Chinese sensors $OUST. American technology sensors like @MicroVision can actively reject sunlight noise. They can actively reject other lidar sensors which will cause interference, will doing edge computing right on the sensor (no need to load the main processor on the car). Tesla investors are being stubborn about this. $MVIS solution will be sold for a low cost and can be easily mass produced. Xpeng X9 also has radar and camera systems. Why did those fail to stop the car also?

@TeslaTomMY1 @elonmusk LiDar! It will avoid a fake wall but totally hit a real vehicle. If only we have more fake walls on our roads and not other cars.

@elonmusk elon musk tends to be right about most things

@elonmusk @MarkRober rn

@elonmusk Maybe if they use 4 it works

@elonmusk Are you sure that it doesn’t need THREE lidars?! 🧐🤪😜

@elonmusk 2 LiDARs is not enough, needs more LiDAR. I gotta fever and the only cure is more LiDAR.

@elonmusk once you go LIEdar, you will need more LIEdar 😆

@elonmusk Wow 😳
