Yesterday, Colonel Nsabimana introduced to the public another FDLR commander, known by the nom de guerre Tokyo (real name Yoweri), originally from Kivu, western Rwanda, captured by AFC/M23 soldiers in eastern DRC, specifically in Muzimu, an entity in the Masisi territory of North Kivu, where he led attacks alongside...

#DRC #FDLR #M23 #Rwanda #Genocide_against_Tutsi 🔴A historical capture by #M23 of high-ranking #FDLR officers having participated in the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda & responsible for 30 years of violence in #DRC. ➡️ Brigadier Gen. Ezéchiel GAKWERERE, who according to ICG Africa Report N°151 – 9 July 2009 ("Congo: A Comprehensive Strategy to Disarm the FDLR") is among those who "played major roles in leading the 1994 genocide [against the Tutsi in Rwanda]", was handed over to Rwandan authorities today, along with two dozens of his FDLR militiamen. ➡️ Major Gilbert NDAYAMBAJE (a.k.a Castro Rafiki) was also repatriated. Following his surrender in 2016, MONUSCO turned him over to the Government of DRC (S/2016/1102). In September 2018, he was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison by a military tribunal in Bukavu, for the murder & torture of civilians in the villages of Kamananga & Lumenje (South Kivu). ➡️Their capture and handover today provides tangible evidence that the government of Tshisekedi has put into action its threat of "regime change" in Rwanda by integrating into its national army, former Ex-FAR/intarahamwe genocidaires & masterminds of anti-Tutsi genocide ideology, responsible for the ethnic cleansing of Congolese Tutsi since 1994. ➡️This event happens when the international community, its mouthpiece @UN_BintouKeita / MONUSCO in #DRC, under the leadership of Jean-Pierre Lacroix, mandated by the #UNSC, accuse Rwanda of "violating the territorial integrity of DRC", whereas Rwanda maintains existential "preventive defensive measures" at its border with #DRC. ➡️This historical capture of high-ranking #FDLR commanders is evidence that Kinshasa's official support of #FDLR, endorsed by MONUSCO which collaborates with Kinshasa instead of neutralizing #FDLR as its mandate originally states, represent a tangible threat to the security of the Rwandan people, who 30 years ago, were at the verge of extermination at the hands of the same #FDLR genocidal militia. Once again, the UN Human Rights has falsely accused the Rwandan army of killing civilians in Rutshuru. This baseless accusation ignores the real perpetrators entirely. Civilian massacres in eastern DRC are carried out by the FDLR, a genocidal militia composed of perpetrators of the 1994 Tutsi Genocide, still active and armed in Congo. The Wazalendo, militias created, armed and funded by Tshisekedi’s regime, are responsible for horrific crimes: ▪️mass rapes of women and girls, ▪️forced recruitment of children, ▪️summary executions and mutilations. Recent examples: ▪️Gatumba, Aug 2004: over 150 civilians massacred in a refugee camp by FDLR/Palipehutu-backed forces. ▪️Kishishe, Nov 2022: over 200 civilians massacred, including women and children. ▪️Masisi, May 2024: children burned alive by pro-Kinshasa militias. ▪️Rutshuru: eyewitnesses confirm FDLR & Wazalendo, not Rwanda, are the killers, etc, etc... To cite only M23 and RDF as perpetrators is an intentional oversight that shields the real dangers in Eastern DRC, especially North Kivu: FDLR, Wazalendo, and other militias. It’s shameful for such a major organization to display this level of intellectual laziness. By failing to identify the real criminals, the UN Human Rights becomes complicit. It allows impunity to flourish, protects militias, and condemns eastern Congolese civilians to live under terror. Question: How long will the UN Human Rights betray its mandate? It has the resources to uncover the truth, yet it targets Rwanda instead, prioritizing political agendas over victim protection. The truth is clear: civilians are dying at the hands of FDLR, Wazalendo, and other Félix A. Tshisekedi-backed militias. Accusing Rwanda only turns a blind eye to the real culprits and perpetuates impunity...

Diplomatic Checkmate Against the Kigali Regime. (Full video of Michael Waltz's intervention). Very harsh statements from the United States Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, against the Kigali regime, during the emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In his speech, he firmly condemns Rwanda for its direct support to the M23, explicitly states that Rwandan troops (Rwandan Defence Forces, RDF) are deployed alongside the M23 rebels in eastern Congo (notably in Uvira, South Kivu), and describes this as deliberate sabotage of the peace agreements recently signed in Washington. He mentions recent field evidence, including the use of surface-to-air missiles by Rwandan forces and strategic involvement in planning offensives. Waltz states that the United States will use “all tools at its disposal” to hold Rwanda accountable and demands an immediate withdrawal of Rwandan troops from Congolese territory. Some excerpts: “Since its re-emergence in 2021, Rwanda has had strategic control of its proxy armed group M23 as well as the political wing of M23, the Congo River Alliance or AFC, and has deployed M23 and the AFC to achieve Rwanda's geopolitical objectives.” “In eastern DRC, Kigali has been intimately involved in the planning and execution of the war in eastern DRC, providing military and political direction to M23 forces and the AFC.” “For years, the Rwandan Defence Forces have provided materiel, logistical support, and training to M23 as well as participation in combat alongside M23 in DRC with approximately 5,000 to 7,000 soldiers as of early December.” “Not counting possible Rwandan military reinforcements in this most recent advance.” “We have credible reports of increased use of suicide drones.” “Increased use of artillery by M23 and Rwanda” “including strikes in Burundi.” “We will use the tools at our disposal to hold peace saboteurs accountable.” “We call on Rwanda to respect its commitments and to further recognize the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo's right to defend its territory and its sovereign right to invite Burundian forces onto its territory.” “The fact that UN peacekeepers are besieged by forces supported by a Member State that itself contributes troops to peacekeeping missions is, frankly, a sad hypocrisy...”

Like all Africans and beyond, I am deeply saddened by the situation in the Eastern Congo. I want to pass my condolences to South Africa on the death of its soldiers who have died in pursuit of peace in the DRC, and everyone who has been killed by this crisis. Today I took time to understand the issues and the root cause of the Great Lakes crisis, you can’t understand it all in a day. I am not an expert on the Great Lakes, but I found two insightful videos featuring Tanzania’s founding father, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, and former South African President Thabo Mbeki explaining it. Both leaders were actively involved in efforts to address the Great Lakes issue, with Nyerere engaging as far back as 1992 and earlier. The problem can be traced back to 1885 during the Berlin Conference, where Africa was partitioned among European colonial powers and borders were drawn regardless of ethnic sensitivities. Belgium, the colonial power in the DRC, and Germany, the colonial power in Rwanda, drew borders that divided the Rwandan Kingdom, incorporating parts of it into what is now the DRC. As a result of this partitioning, the Banyarwanda (including the Banyamulenge) ended up living on both sides of the border—in Rwanda and the DRC. Just like the Tswanas in South Africa and Botswana. Despite being Zairean (Congolese) citizens, the Banyarwanda in the DRC were often treated as foreigners by successive Congolese governments, and they faced significant discrimination. The situation worsened after the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda in 1994 which was carried out by the Hutus, when perpetrators of the genocide fled into the DRC, particularly to areas where Congolese Banyarwanda lived. These perpetrators formed a militia called the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR). The FDLR, which opposes the current Rwandan government, was later incorporated into the Congolese army, causing Rwanda to view their presence in Eastern Congo as a significant security threat. Rwanda objected to the persecution of the Congolese Banyarwanda by the Congolese Government and the FDLR in the DRC. Rwanda’s said its involvement in the DRC is rooted in its efforts to neutralise the FDLR and protect its national security, as well as to address the marginalisation of the Banyarwanda in Eastern Congo. However, this involvement has also sparked significant controversy and accusations of resource exploitation and destabilisation by the DRC. The M23 (March 23 Movement) originated from the National Congress for the Defence of the People (CNDP), a Tutsi-led rebel group in the DRC that operated in the mid-2000s. The CNDP was mainly focused on protecting the rights of Congolese Tutsis (Banyarwanda) who faced discrimination and violence, particularly after the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. Reports by Human Rights Watch in October 2022 revealed that the Congolese military supported the FDLR in their military operations against the M23 rebel group. At the same time, the Congolese government has accused Rwanda of supporting the M23 militarily. Currently the conflict involves the M23 and the Congolese army, with the DRC accusing Rwanda of deploying its troops on Congolese soil. As Nyerere points out in the video, the Zairean government stripped the Banyarwanda in the Congo of their citizenship, rendering them stateless. However, they are Congolese due to the colonial borders. What is clear is that this crisis is not an overnight problem, it has been there for decades, long before both Presidents Paul Kagame and Félix Tshisekedi were in power. What is lacking is leadership from the region and the continent to help both countries resolve this crisis once and for all. It is like a volcano that has been erupting periodically, the crisis is crying out for a modern day Nyerere or Mbeki. It is now unrealistic to expect Presidents Kagame and Tshisekedi to invite each other for coffee, it needs someone with gravitas to invite them. This crisis has no military solution except dialogue.

"300 Tutsi homes burned to the ground in Nturo by FDLR!" A report by Bojana Coulibaly As part of a book project on the Mechanisms of Genocide Ideology in North Kivu, my research partner and I went to investigate the infamous attack on the village of Nturo which took place in October 2023. ➡️ After conducting interviews with Nturo residents, we found that Nturo had about 300 homes owned by Congolese Tutsi. They were attacked by #FDLR on October 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 2023. This was 6 months after the #M23 withdrew from 80% of their previously controlled territory in the Rutshuru and Masisi areas, and one month before the withdrawal of the EAC forces. ➡️ During the main attack, the area was under control of the Burundian EAC contingent. ➡️ We found out that after the #M23 withdrew in March 2023, the 300 Nturo families were systematically targeted by FDLR-Nyatura-Wazalendo. The residents were persecuted and had to pay monthly taxes for cattle and land ownership to the #FDLR. People were killed when they could not pay the taxes. ➡️ The FDLR attacked Nturo several times after M23 withdrew, on the watch of the Burundian EAC forces. All the Nturo residents we interviewed agree that the Burundian EAC soldiers gave a green light to the FDLR-Nyatura-Wazalendo on the day of the main attack. This was confirmed in a video by one of the assailants. The complicity of the Burundian EAC forces with FDLR may be explained by their endorsement of anti-Tutsi genocide ideology. ➡️ On October 2nd, the big attack began. Two Nturo residents got killed during the attack. On October 3rd, FDLR, Nyatura and their families came and looted all the homes, loading trucks with the belongings of Nturo residents. Most residents had fled on October 2nd and 3rd. On October 4th, the assailants came with yellow canisters full of gasoline. They deliberately sprayed all the houses and set fire, which led to the total annihilation of the village of Nturo. ➡️ As we can see in the video footage, FDLR-Nyatura-Wazalendo clearly acknowledged that they were wiping of the map a "Tutsi village". ➡️ During the attack, the majority of Nturo residents fled to the Bwiza IDP camp where 17,000 IDPs had gathered from several parts of eastern DRC, after facing persecution by #FDLR & Nyatura for decades. ➡️ Since November 2023, Nturo residents have began to return to Nturo to rebuild their homes. Those who came in November 2023 witnessed attacks carried out by a FARDC Sukhoi. Indeed, according to the residents, seven bombs were dropped on Nturo. ➡️ When we visit Nturo today, we can see that all the houses have recently been rebuilt. ➡️ ➡️What happened in Nturo is illustrative of the politics of divisionism used by the Government of Kinshasa in its conflict against #M23, particularly through its collaboration with the genocidal force #FDLR. It is also representative of the impact of genocide ideology in DR Congo. ➡️➡️While the attack is slightly mentioned in the December 2023 UN Group of Experts report, it is certainly inadequate as no statement was done by MONUSCO & no investigation was ever carried out. In fact, around the time of the withdrawal of the EAC forces in November 2023, the Burundian army joined the DRC government coalition comprising FARDC, MONUSCO, #FDLR, Wazalendo and European Mercenaries, to fight against #M23. ➡️➡️The total annihilation of Nturo is proof that there is ongoing ethnic cleansing of the Congolese Tutsi in eastern DRC. It shows the impact of genocide ideology in the region, as systematic attacks on Congolese Tutsi in Kitchanga and Bwiza by FDLR also took place. ➡️➡️This tragedy similarly highlights that Nturo residents were feeling safe under the presence of #M23. However, when #M23 withdrew in March 2023, letting EAC take over, the security of Nturo residents drastically decreased. This particular element seems to legitimize the existence of #M23. ➡️➡️➡️ In view of these observations, could we conclude that #M23 is the solution to insecurity in Eastern DRC? 🔴 🇨🇩 | #DRC - #Sake | Ultimatum: The Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC/M23) officially demands the immediate withdrawal of the FDLR, the Mai-Mai-Wazalendos, and the FARDC from all forests in the provinces of South and North Kivu. Failing this, the revolutionary movement will expel them by September 15, 2025. ::: MINUTES VIDEO ULTIMATUM: ⏯️PRESS 11:07 ::: 11:56 - TESTIMONY During the popular rally, A notable figure from the Masisi territory in North Kivu has publicly announced his official allegiance to the armed political movement AFC/M23, citing widespread dissatisfaction with the current leadership in Kinshasa. In a bold declaration made in front of members of the press & communities, the figure whose name has not been officially disclosed stated that he had chosen to join AFC/M23 due to what he described as “poor governance” and “institutionalised tribalism” under the leadership of President Félix Tshisekedi. He expressed deep admiration for what he called the "new governance" introduced by the AFC/M23 leadership, which, according to him, has disrupted negative forces and restored a sense of safety among local populations. "The professionalism of the Congolese Revolutionary Army has brought order and security in all the villages and cities liberated by the AFC/M23," he stated. He further extended a call to action to other citizens of North Kivu, particularly those still aligned with the central government in Kinshasa, urging them to abandon what he termed "a regime of public money thieves" and join the AFC/M23 in building a "new Congo"—one free from conflict, tribalism, and social inequality. The announcement was made public by the Cellcom of the North Kivu Governorate, signaling a possible shift in political dynamics in the region as tensions between the central government and armed groups persist. This development comes amid renewed international concern over instability in eastern DR Congo, where the M23 movement has continued to play a significant role both militarily and politically.

#DRC #Ebuteli #M23 "If Rwanda did not back that group, our dysfunctional army would have KILLED ALL OF THEM!" (Mrs. Valériane N. Vogel) ➡️This was uttered yesterday by Valériane Ndena V. in an X Space on DRC, with 17,000 auditors, where she expressed her regret that the Congolese army has not "killed" all the #M23, and by extension, the Congolese Tutsi minority they protect. ➡️Valériane Vogel, is known for her Tutsiphobic rhetoric on X, where she openly promotes the #FDLR -Interahamwe ideology. ➡️ She is also known for being the wife of Christoph Vogel (Christoph N. Vogel), former UN expert, who for the last 15 years, has been the principal source of information on Congo, along with his collaborator Jason Stearns. Their contributions are used by diplomats, politicians, academics, and the media. ➡️ Christoph Vogel's close link to Valériane Vogel who openly promotes anti-Tutsi hate ideology questions the credibility of Christoph Vogel's "expertise" and research ethics on the conflict in DRC. ➡️ Vogel & Stearns are the co-founders of Groupe d’étude sur le Congo, Ebuteli & Baromètre sécuritaire du Kivu (created in partnership with Human Rights Watch). These research institutes, based in the United States & Kinshasa, have played a considerable role in the manipulation of information leading to the politics of divisionism and genocide ideology, promoted by the current Tshisekedi administration. ➡️ In their contributions, they have pushed for a distorted analysis of the DRC conflict, which they have been fueling by promoting numerous conspiracy theories, then recycled by the UN in their reports, for over a decade: 1) The DOUBLE-GENOCIDE theory is consistently alluded through rhetorical manipulation by Vogel & Stearns so as to blur the line between victim and perpetrator. ➡️They have been accusing the RPF & the Rwandan president Paul Kagame, who have stopped the genocide & implemented a system of governance based on unity and reconciliation, of having committed and continuing to commit "a genocide against the Hutu in Congo". ➡️Vogel & Stearns by promoting the double-genocide theory depict the region as a place of perpetual violence, where "Hutu" kill "Tutsi", and "Tutsi" kill "Hutu", and where Africans are unable to govern themselves, requiring constant intervention of western political institutions and NGOs. 2) The theory which argues that "#FDLR DO NOT EXIST" and is "a pretext for Rwanda to invade & destabilize Congo". ➡️ Christoph Vogel promotes this theory in his article: "How to avoid false narratives around DR Congo's M23 conflict" (2023) published in The New Humanitarian, in which he declares that "FDLR is now a shadow of its former self". ➡️This theory denies that FDLR represents a security threat for Rwanda and ignores that the Congolese president has publicly threatened to "help #FDLR change the regime in Rwanda", has integrated its forces into its national army, espoused its ideology, in its war against the same Tutsi community which FDLR has pledged to exterminate, both in Congo & Rwanda. 3) The theory that claims that "#M23 ARE RWANDANS" (not Congolese), as Vogel argues in his paper "Non, le conflit en RDC n’est pas qu’une histoire de 'minerais de sang'", published in Jeune Afrique (February 2025). ➡️This theory promotes the idea that #M23 have invaded Congo. It denies their fundamental right to live in their country. It also presents the Congolese Tutsi as "foreign" to Congo. This ideology has pushed a million Congolese Tutsi to exile in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and around the world. They have been victim of ethnic cleansing in eastern Congo for over the last 30 years. 4) The theory of "RWANDAN AGRESSION" and "VIOLATION OF CONGO'S TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY". While Christoph Vogel in his paper "debunks" the theory that he has been previously promoting, i.e., that Rwanda loots "blood minerals" in Congo, he now argues that #M23, which he considers to be a "Rwandan rebel group", is in Congo for financial gain through its "occupation". ➡️ Vogel's contributions, like the ones of Stearns, thus manipulate, exploit & politicize anti-Tutsi xenophobia, and therefore cannot be credible sources on the conflict in DRC.

Kinshasa regime vs M23/AFC: Uvira—While M23/AFC is reassuring people to go back in their daily activities, and refugees to go back home. Yesterday, Burundi and DRC high command officials finalized offensive plans to retake Uvira. During a meeting held in Bujumbura, Burundi, the host country agreed to ensure coordination of these operations. Burundi is already hosting more than 30 thousands heavily armed militiamen who fled the fighting in South Kivu. Among them are members of the FDLR genocidal forces, Imbonerakure, Burundian soldiers, DRC soldiers, and Mai-Mai. Burundi, unaware that the mosquito has landed on its testicles, as the saying goes, remains stubbornly faithful to its genocidal ideology no matter the cost. Sources within the DRC and the Burundian army confirm that these attacks are imminent. Initially, the Burundian troops withdrawn from the mountains of the DRC were supposed to coordinate with FARDC special forces and mercenaries arriving from Katanga, Kalemie, and Kindu, plus reinforcements coming from Walikale, in order to advance along the Mwenga axis. At the same time, units redeployed from Burundi itself, along with those who had fled to Makobola, were to launch simultaneous attacks against M23 defensive positions on the outskirts of Uvira. At the same time, reports say that Gitega has dressed thousands of militiamen under its command in RDF fatigues and positioned them near Rwanda with intention to sow chaos— now we know why they were printing these uniforms. Evidently, people who are doing this do not see that it will come with unaffordable cost…. More details, no time to write.
