The Ghana Immigration Service has carried out a major anti-trafficking operation at specific locations across the capital city in an effort to rescue victims and apprehend suspects involved in trafficking foreigners into the country. A busy day for our team that went up to the border to rescue the abandoned cats. 26 souls were rescued (including a momma cat and her kittens). Most of the cats were quite bewildered by their abandonment and seemed relieved to be rescued. They will be taken into quarantine and made comfortable. Tomorrow the vets team will be busy checking each one carefully. Thank you to those who donated last night to support these cats. There is still time to donate if anyone can help us to help them. At about 9am this morning , the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce continued the clean-up operation on the new Coastal Road, clearing wooden sheds behind Eko Hotel where miscreants and destitute were living. The sheds were removed and taken away by the enforcement team, restoring sanity to the area. Our operatives will continue monitoring to prevent their return. #ZeroToleranceLagos

#WATCH | Sivasagar, Assam: As floodwaters abruptly entered in Nepali Khuti area, a group of local villagers launched a timely rescue operation and saved many lives across multiple villages. On of villagers who was engaged in rescue operation, Sohan Chaudhary said, "...We were at home. The water rose with such speed that we left our own home to go and rescue others. Our own people were standing in deep water. We took boats out to save others. We hadn't even realized how much water had entered our own homes... We saved more than 1000 people from around 4-5 villages." (02.08)

It matters that we share a common purpose – to investigate these abductions, to return the children, and to help them rebuild normal lives with their families. This is not something abstract. Every case is the story of a real child – and a real family. By saving these children, we give a chance not only to them – we give a chance to our countries, so that the values that define our lives do not turn to dust. And this raises a fundamental question: how did it become possible for Russians to simply abduct tens of thousands of children, hide them, tear them away from their families, and then teach them to hate the very country they were abducted from? When a country becomes such an evil force that does not stop even at destroying the lives of children – this cannot be treated as just a regional problem, something happening “somewhere far away.” If a country commits such crimes against children, it means it is capable of any crime. And that is exactly why this challenge requires a global response. From an address to the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children (1/3).
