Yesterday we announced Python, Node.js and FFmpeg running on your iPhone. Today: a real PostgreSQL 18.4 server. On iOS. And in your browser. 🐘 No backend. No cloud. Just WebAssembly. Try it right now 👇

Wasmer is really a thing, but postgres in wasm was already solved by pglite a few years back

Guys… why should I choose wasmer over wasi/m?? I’m struggling with understanding the difference between you and them.

Wasmer not only provides the runtime, but the registry and a hosting to scale your apps serverlessly. WASIX supports way more than WASI, feel free to check out the details here!

Real Postgres 18.4 in the browser and on iOS with no backend is a big deal for demos, offline apps, and agent sandboxes that need SQL without shipping a cloud DB. The hard parts after the wow: persistence across refreshes, extension support, and whether query tooling feels like real Postgres or a toy subset. WASM Postgres only wins if the developer loop stays familiar. I have been building SQL Studio around that local-feeling Postgres/SQL workflow. Soft demo if useful:
