Yesterday we had a delayed short debate on the government's pre-Easter statement on child sexual abuse. I was suitably frustrated and tried to explain a) that grooming rape gangs are still operating NOW and b) that councils aren't going to apply for grants for local inquiries as too many...

Brave speech and the points made are those that so many outside of the HoL want to be said on their behalf.

Thank you for your perseverance, Claire. The authorities have not only allowed this industrial-scale abuse for decades but, as you have said, continue to do everything they can to cover it up! 😡

Exactly. Thank you for speaking out. I worked in Kirklees 2000s at a PRU. Our concerns were ignored by the Police and Social care (not all social workers). Many of these people are still around and will block inquiries

love the collar up to look hard😂 as always 100% right just as @_RobbieMoore knows - the evidence of institutional cover up is overwhelming & denying this is like denying a woman actually well a woman

Well said Claire As @GoodwinMJ has said the grooming gang scandal will haunt this country for decades How can anyone defend people who inflate an underage white girl’s anus for anal sex, 4 men stick their penis’s in her anus & then stick a baseball bat up her vagina?

🚨BOMBSHELL EXPOSÉ: TREVOR PHILLIPS RIPS LID OFF LABOUR'S GROOMING GANGS COVER-UP 💣 Keir Starmer and the Labour Party Sabotaging National Inquiry to Hide Racial Targeting of White Girls and Decades of Failure in Their Own Councils In a devastating intervention, Sir Trevor Phillips has blown the whistle on what he calls a deliberate political cover-up at the heart of Britain's grooming gangs scandal. The former Equality and Human Rights Commission chair accuses Labour of sabotaging the national inquiry because of its explosive racial implications — and because so much of the abuse took place under Labour-controlled councils that did nothing to stop it. “The government clearly never wanted these two things to be put together,” Phillips declared. He points to Labour's efforts to downplay “the intersection of race and sexual predation,” insisting the perpetrators deliberately targeted victims because they were white and outside the groomers' community. “These children are chosen because of their race. They are chosen because they are white and because they’re outside the community of the groomers.” Phillips highlights the chilling uniqueness of these crimes: unlike typical child abuse kept hidden, grooming gangs operate in plain sight — with perpetrators knowing they are shielded. “The other thing is these people know that they are protected. They’re protected politically, they’re protected by social workers, they’re protected by local police. That is the scandal here.” He pulls no punches on why a full reckoning has been avoided: “Much of this took place in local Labour councils and the authorities who were supposed to be watching over this, stopping it, monitoring it and all the rest of it were controlled by those councils and they did nothing.” This is not just institutional failure — it's a politically motivated shield thrown over horrific, racially aggravated sexual exploitation that went on for years under Labour's watch. Right now, they deserve justice — and Britain deserves the full, fearless national inquiry that has been denied for far too long.

Beth Rigby, "Elon Musk called your Safeguarding Minister Jess Philips an evil witch, a rape genocide apologist, who should be put in jail.. Does that make you angry and what is your response?" Keir Starmer, "I think more people are interested in what's happening in the NHS than what's happening on Twitter. But you asked me a really important question. With permission I will answer it fully" "Child sexual exploitation is utterly sickening.. For many years too many victims have been let down by perverse ideas of community relations.. Or that institutions must be protected to above all else" "When I was Chief Prosecutor for five years, I tackled that head on.. I reopened cases that had been closed.. I brought the first major prosecution of an Asian grooming gang, in Rochdale" "I changed the whole prosecution approach because I wanted to challenge the myths and stereotypes that were stopping those victims from being heard" "When I left office we had the highest number of child sexual abuse cases being prosecuted on record" "The record is not secret. As public servant its all there for anyone to see" "I also called for mandatory reporting of Child sexual abuse. I called for that a decade ago" "The Tories did nothing about that. For those 10 long years" "Those that are spreading lies and misinformation as far and as wide as possible. They're not interested in victims. They're interested in themselves" "Those cheerleading Tommy Robinson are not interested in justice. They're supporting a man who went to prison for nearly collapsing a gang grooming case" "And those attacking Jess Philips, who I'm proud to call a colleague and a friend, aren't protecting victims. Jess Philips has done a thousand times more than they've even dreamt about, when it comes to protecting victims of child sexual abuse" "I'm prepared to call out this for what it is. We've seen this playbook before. Whipping up intimidation, threats of violence, hoping the media will amplify it" "When the poisonous far right leads to serious threats to Jess Philips and others, then in my book, a line has been crossed" "I enjoy the cut and thrust of politics, the robust debate we must have. But that's got to be based on facts and truth. Not on lies" "Not on those who are desperate for attention that they're prepared to debase themselves and their country" "This government will get on with the job of protecting victims, including child sexual abuse. But what I won't tolerate is this discussion debate based on lies" "What I won't tolerate is politicians jumping on the bandwagon simply to get attention" "Those politicians were in government for 14 long years. Tweeting, talking, but not doing anything about it. Now so desperate for attention that they're amplifying what the far right are saying"
