this guy just wired kimi k3 directly into codex. the model is insanely good, but the app isn’t. so instead of using the kimi app, he connected his kimi subscription to codex through oauth. now kimi k3 shows up right inside the model picker alongside sol 5.6. no api key needed. no extra subscription either. just sign in with oauth through kimi code, and it’s ready to use. simple guides in the video and links below 👇

Kimi K3 vs GPT-5.6 Sol. I reused the 3D globe test from Kimi vs Fable 5. Same prompt. Same reference image. Kimi K3 left. GPT-5.6 Sol right. Kimi edges out Sol on UI fidelity and globe realism. At current API prices, Kimi is about 50% cheaper. For frontend work, it's my pick.

Tried recreating Fall Guys using the exact same prompt with Claude Opus 5.0 (Claude Code) and Kimi K3 (Kimi CLI). Kimi K3 nailed the gameplay out of the box. Physics, movement, and the overall feel were surprisingly solid Opus 5.0 had a shinier UI, but movement was broken, it kept adding unnecessary visual effects, lagged during gameplay, and spent most of its time reiterating instead of converging Runtime and cost : - Kimi K3: ~9 min, ~$4.4 - Opus 5.0: ~17 min (still iterating), ~$13+ That's roughly 2× the time and 3× the cost, yet Kimi produced the more playable result with the exact same prompt.

I asked Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6 Sol, Kimi K3 to build the Eiffel Tower in Three.js. Opus 5.5: $8.95 | 10 mins GPT-6 Astra: $7.45 | 8 mins GPT-6 Sol: $3.90 | 5 mins Kimi K3: $4.04 | 6 mins Opus 5.5 really impressed me. The frontend and 3D detailing are seriously good, and I preferred it over Astra for this task. GPT-6 Sol was a bit disappointing, while Kimi K3 looks really good for the price. It delivered a strong result at almost half the cost. Kimi K3.1 is going to be a monster for sure. Overall, Anthropic made a great comeback with Opus 5.5.

New short course: Attention in Transformers: Concepts and Code in PyTorch. Last week we released a course on how LLM transformers work. This week, go deeper and learn about the technical ideas behind the attention mechanism, and see how to code it in PyTorch. This course is built with Joshua Starmer, Founder and CEO of StatQuest. The attention mechanism was a breakthrough that led to transformers, the architecture powering large language models like ChatGPT. Transformers, introduced in the 2017 paper: "Attention is All You Need" by Viswani and others, took off because of its highly scalable design. In this course, you’ll learn how the attention mechanism, a key element of transformer-based LLMs, works and implement it in PyTorch. You'll develop deep intuition about building reliable, functional, and scalable AI applications. What you will do: - Understand the evolution of the attention mechanism, a key breakthrough that led to transformers. - Learn the relationships between word embeddings, positional embeddings, and attention. - Learn about the Query, Key, and Value matrices, and how to produce and use them in attention. - Walk through the math required to calculate self-attention and masked self-attention to learn why and how they work. - Understand the difference between self-attention and masked self-attention and how one is used in the encoder to build context-aware embeddings and the other is used in the decoder for generative outputs. - Learn the details of the encoder-decoder architecture, cross-attention, and multi-head attention and how they are all incorporated into a transformer. - Use PyTorch to code a class that implements self-attention, masked self-attention, and multi-head attention. GPT-6 Extra High vs. Kimi K3 Swarm - ECHO Start Menu Both models received the exact same prompt. I’m shocked at the quality Kimi K3 was able to output here. Its overall visual quality is above GPT-6’s and even above the menu from the actual game. However, it took significantly longer - around 3.5 hours versus GPT-6’s 42 minutes. Roughly 5× longer. GPT-6’s demo felt more realistic and stayed a lot closer to how the original menu looks. Kimi added something that GPT-6 missed, which was the interactive eye tracking. Kimi’s eyeball follows (albeit blurry and in a slightly weird way) where you click on the start screen.
