You can use our agent programmatically. Here's an example that creates a template for a math question and reviews a student's work by annotating the canvas. It manipulates the canvas using the same tools as the student to give feedback and guidance without giving away the answers.

That sounds like a cool tool for math tutoring. Thanks for sharing!

New short course: Collaborative Writing and Coding with OpenAI Canvas! Explore new ways to write and code with OpenAI Canvas, a user-friendly interface that allows you to brainstorm, draft, and refine text and code in collaboration with ChatGPT. In the short course, created with OpenAI, and taught by , a research lead at OpenAI, you’ll learn to use Canvas to enhance your workflows. Canvas lets you go beyond simple chat interactions. It provides a side-by-side workspace where you and ChatGPT can edit and refine text or code collaboratively. This makes brainstorming, drafting, and iterating as you write feel more natural and effective. As the first major update to ChatGPT’s visual interface since its launch in 2022, Canvas gives a new, innovative approach to collaboration with AI. For instance, after writing the first version of your code, Canvas can review it and give suggestions for improvement. It can also help with debugging by adding logging, identifying problems to fix, and writing comments. In addition, you'll also learn what it takes to train the model for an interface like Canvas. In this video-only short course, you’ll: - Learn how to ask for in-line feedback and control the iteration of your work by directly editing selected areas of your text or code from the model’s output. - Learn how to access quick automation tools in a shortcut menu that allows you to modify your writing tone and length, enhance your code, and restore previous versions of your work. - Learn how to use Canvas as a research assistant tool with an example of asking the model to reason through the screenshot of a plot to write a research report, in which you can ask questions within the created report. - Ask the model to write Python code to replicate the graph seen on a screenshot image. - Go behind the scenes of how you can create a video game, such as Space Battleship, from scratch, edit it, and display it in one self-contained HTML file. - Get a real-world application example of creating a SQL database from the image of its architecture. - Understand the model training and design processes that power Canvas! For the first time we are fundamentally changing how humans can collaborate with ChatGPT since it launched two years ago. We’re introducing canvas, a new interface for working with ChatGPT on writing and coding projects that go beyond simple chat. Product and model features: 1/ Ask for in-line feedback. With canvas, ChatGPT can better understand the context of what you’re trying to accomplish. You can highlight specific sections to indicate exactly what you want ChatGPT to focus on. Like a copy editor or code reviewer, it can give in-line feedback and suggestions with the entire project in mind. 2/ Directly edit the model's output and select a specific area for targeted editing. You control your creative work on canvas. You can directly edit text or code. 3/ Menu of shortcuts. There’s a menu of shortcuts for you to ask ChatGPT to adjust writing length, debug your code, and quickly perform other useful actions. You can also restore previous versions of your work by using the back button in canvas. 4/ Use search with canvas for research writing! As we are moving towards the new paradigm of reasoning we are fundamentally evolving the chat interface into a more collaborative human-AI interaction. Today you can say “browse / use browsing to find XYZ on the internet and write a report in canvas”

alright agent nerds, if you care about your tokens and usage limits, pay attention to the tools you give to your agents. i built a benchmark that compared various browser tools for agents, and here's an example of their massive difference in cost and latency doing the same task

Agents write code faster than we can review it. A huge PR is essentially a long list of files in alphabetical order. We think reviews can be more fun if you swap the limiting pages for a canvas, which is why we built PR canvas. You read the change in the order the logic runs. - A short summary shown on each card to help you understand what the piece of code does. - The canvas shows the relationship between each group. - Possible issues to check before approving, with standby agents of choice ready to attend to any of them. - Comment, mark as issue, and approve PRs. - Agents can also locally clarify on feedback before you mark as an issue. - It runs on your Mac, with your gh and your Claude Code/Codex/any available agent.

The fastest way to write a better prompt might be to stop writing and start reverse-engineering. Dreamina can work backwards from the clip. Prompt tools hand you the answer and close the book. A canvas lets you keep asking questions. Dreamina 2.0 is canvas-first — the new way AI video is made. #Dreamina #DreaminaPartner

The Genspark Super Agent / AI Secretary is an absolute game changer! Thanks to the connection with Google tools, I can access numerous functions such as gDrive, Calendar, and Mail, and, for example, get a summary of my emails and answers to further questions. The same goes for Calendar: I can now chat with the various Google tools using Genspark, get an overview, and access them. This significantly boosts productivity! I can get an overview by not only sorting my emails, but also discussing their content with AI and making entries directly in the calendar. An AI secretary became a reality.

The same kinds of productivity gains we've seen in coding with AI agents are heading to the rest of knowledge work. This is the jump when you go from having a chatbot to being able to actually have an agent go off and do work for minutes or even hours and come back with a complete work output that you then review. Here's an example of the new Box Agent filling out an RFP response from an existing knowledge base. This process would normally take hours to fill out, and requires the full attention of the user doing the work. Now, you provide the Box Agent with the RFP questions, and it will go off, make a plan, extract all the relevant questions, read through existing source material to come up with an answer, and then generate a new word document as the final output. All while you're doing something else. The key to this architecture is that the agent is able to use all of the same tools in the background that a user uses to get work done. The agent can search for documents, read entire files, run scripts and tools in the background, and even be able to write code on the fly to automate tasks it hasn't seen before. And best of all, the Box Agent will (soon) work from the Box MCP and CLI so you can invoke it in any agentic system as a step in a process. This kind of agent complexity would have been impossible even 6 months ago. Models consistently failed at tracking long running tasks or using the right tools at the right moment for the task. But this is all now possible because of models like GPT-5.4, Opus 4.6, and Gemini 3, and is only getting better by the month. Just as we moved from engineers writing code and using AI as an assistant to answer questions, in many areas of knowledge work -like legal, finance, consulting, sales, marketing, and more- when we have a problem we'll just kick off the AI agent to just go work on it for us in the background.

Guys, we need to talk about this. NOW! I’ve tested a lot of design tools - Paper , Replit ⠕ , Figma Make, and a few others in the same space, and honestly, there’s usually still a lot of struggle. But this feels different. You can start designing without any MCP connection, use an agent to help build the UX, edit directly on the canvas, and yes, it basically has the “Make it Pretty” magic button DANN© has been talking about for a while. And devs can actually work with it too. You can see the code right there. But that’s not even the craziest part. COMPONENTS! Actual components. I’m genuinely in shock. These guys are so good. Feels like the perfect time for a Contra challenge.

I heavily use diagraming tools for architecting which means a lot of screenshotting and pasting. To make things simpler, I asked my harness to build itself a canvas worker. Now the agent draws the diagram right in the chat and console injectable UI.
