You cannot add to a void pointer in C. The compiler does not know the size. The everyday fix is to cast it to char* so the math is in bytes, then multiply by the element size yourself. Stanford CS107, lecture 4

To build a generic swap in C, pass the size explicitly, create a temporary byte buffer, then use memcpy three times to rotate the bit patterns. VLA char buffer[size] is a GCC thing, for a more portable version malloc the temp and free it. Stanford CS107, lecture 4

This is a common C bug. You write a MAX macro, then call MAX(m++, n++). The preprocessor pastes the text, so it becomes (m++ > n++) ? m++ : n++. The smaller one increments once. The larger one increments twice. Stanford CS107, lecture 12

CSS Trick! 🎃 You can create a wavey border for elements by layering masks 🎭 Used to create this ghost! 👻 Check the video for an exploding view 🫶 .👻 { --size: 20px; mask: radial-gradient(var(--size) at bottom, transparent 97%, #000), radial-gradient(var(--size) at 25% 50%, #000 97%, transparent); mask-repeat: repeat-x; mask-size: calc(2 * var(--size)) 100%, calc(4 * var(--size)) calc(2 * var(--size)); mask-position: 50% calc(100% - var(--size)), calc(50% - var(--size)) 99%; } That code looks kinda scary! 👻 This is one way you could do things. Check the video again or explode in the demo. One mask cuts out circles from the bottom of the element. The other adds overlaid circles back. And that overlap creates the wavey line you want for the ghost 🤙 Using a custom property you can write once and not have to touch again. If you're down 5-10% from your highs and still putting on full-size longs, your math is working against the market. That's not a test position, that's insanity. CSS Trick! 🤙 You can create gradient borders on translucent elements using mask-clip and mask-composite with a pseudo-element 🔥 .gradient-border::after { mask-clip: padding-box, border-box; mask-composite: intersect; mask: linear-gradient(transparent, transparent), linear-gradient(white, white); } It's the same "Transparent border trick" from before. But, now you apply it to a pseudo-element 😎 The trick is to create a pseudo-element with a gradient background and then mask it so we only see the part we want, the border ✨ mask-clip defines the area affected by a mask. Similar to how you can define background-size. Using padding-box and border-box constrains the two masks. mask-composite is the magic part ✨ It defines a compositing operation for stacked mask layers. Using intersect means that the parts that overlap get replaced. And this seems to work in all browsers 🙌 As for the rest of the styles... – Make sure you set pointer-events: none on the pseudo-element – Make sure it fills the parent element. You can use position: absolute and inset: 0 – Make sure the background fills the space including the border-width. You can use calc to achieve that: --bg-size: calc(100% + (2px * var(--border))); background: var(--gradient) center center / var(--bg-size) var(--bg-size); That's it! 🚀 Gradient borders on translucent elements. If you read "The Call of Cthulhu" carefully, and do some research, it's possible to work out the size of the creature encountered by the Emma's crew. The narrator says it's "Cthulhu" but we don't know this for sure. It might have "just" been a starspawn. I've done the math for you in the video below. Cutting to the chase, it turns out that Cthulhu is an exceedingly convenient size for tabletop roleplayers. He is, in fact, the same size with respect to humans that the average gamemaster is with respect to 28mm figures. You can scoop up your players' minis in your green flabby claw and say, "This is Cthulhu's size to you puny mortals. Roll for initiative." Cthulhu doesn't even need to regenerate to shrug off their tiny swords and arrows. A mighty wizard's lightning bolt is like a carpet spark. And if that size isn't enough for you, just take it for granted that the monster in the story wasn't Cthulhu, and the real deal is even bigger. Or you can assume Cthulhu has shrunk during the past 12,000 years (the last time he was out and about, causing the Pleistocene extinction) but will soon bulk larger.

"In order for AI to go through understanding, reasoning, planning, using tools to take action, the amount of computation necessary compared to generative AI is like a thousand times more." "In two years time, the number of cars you need in the world grew by a thousand times. In two years time, the number of airplanes you need in the world grew by 2,000 times. Whatever metric you want to use, the thousand times difference is incredible." "But then you multiply that by the number of people who now want to use it by a hundred times. Which is the reason why GPU consumption is going through the roof." "Even GPUs we sold 4 or 5 years ago are now rising in price faster than good wine. It has defied what everybody said was going to happen." The reasoning era did not make intelligence cheaper to run. It made a single answer cost 1,000x more compute, then handed that answer to 100x more people. Anyone still budgeting AI around "inference gets cheap" is planning for a curve that already snapped.

That's basically the entire job. To have the confidence to do that, you have to learn the business. Board members are not here to add value. They can hire consultants who know the industry and are not conflicted for advice. So I shouldn't spend my time trying to give advice. So then what am I doing? I'm here as a board member as an insurance layer. Don't measure yourself by did you give a suggestion?
