Reflecting on last Thursday were we encapsulated our ICT agenda on fostering innovation, shaping strategy and celebrating excellence. Morning we celebrated Zimbabwe's brilliant young innovators at the AI Innovation Week prize giving ceremony. Their AI prototypes for mining and agriculture are groundbreaking. Big thanks to our partners UNDP Zimbabwe Zimbabwe and CBZ Holdings. Afternoon i attended the launch of our national economic blueprint, the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS 2) at Statehouse, followed by the 2026 Budget Presentation at the New Parliament. We were encouraged by the clear, deliberate commitment to fund AI adoption by Treasury,though we need to continue to push for more resources from them and forge more partnerships,this is a great win for our digital future. My evening concluded at our Ministry's ICT Excellence Awards 2025. It was a great honor to celebrate the heroes and heroines of our sector. Special thanks to Hon T. Learners from the Ohangwena Region excelled in the newly introduced Innovation category at the Mathematics and Science Awards, hosted by the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC). Grade 12 learner Lucas Nghuuhange of Mwadikange Kaulinge Secondary School won N$40,000 for his hand-controlled excavator. Shoovaleka Patrick received N$30,000 and a bronze medal for a smart warning system designed to prevent accidents at sharp curves and narrow bridges. Grade 11 learner Tweya Nghuumono won N$10,000 for a solar-powered fighter jet. In the primary phase, 12-year-old Soini Shoonga of Makalani Primary School in Grootfontein received N$20,000 for Innovation Excellence for her electric mathematics project. The Erongo Region also produced young innovators who received awards, including N$1,000 cash prizes and laptops for their innovative projects. Impact After Term | 13 : iTNT Hub — Scaling Tamil Nadu's Deep Tech Ecosystem (Part 2) Establishing iTNT Hub was only the first step. The larger vision was to ensure that Tamil Nadu's emerging Deep Tech ecosystem extended beyond Chennai, enabling innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs across the State to participate in the technologies shaping the future. Under the leadership of Dr. PTR as Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, iTNT Hub expanded through regional centres in Tiruchirappalli, Madurai and Coimbatore. By bringing world-class infrastructure, mentoring, industry partnerships and access to investment closer to Tier-II and Tier-III cities, the initiative laid the foundation for a more decentralised innovation ecosystem. To strengthen early-stage Deep Tech entrepreneurship, the FOUNDATION Fund was launched, through which the first five startups received ₹53 lakh in seed funding. The Deep Tech Hardware Product Design Scheme further supported indigenous hardware innovation by providing grants of up to ₹15 lakh for product design and development. Recognising that innovation achieves its greatest value only when research reaches the marketplace, the Tamil Nadu Technology Transfer Facilitation Centre (TNTTFC) was established in July 2025. Through patent facilitation, IP management, Innovation Spotlight and the Research2Revenue programme, the initiative has already enabled more than 60 patent filings while helping researchers translate ideas into commercially viable technologies. Announced by Dr. PTR in the Legislative Assembly in June 2024 and successfully held on 30 July 2025, the Innovate in TN IP Conclave strengthened Tamil Nadu's intellectual property ecosystem. Bringing together organisations such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Indian Patent Office, NASSCOM, C-DAC, Bosch and Mahindra & Mahindra, the conclave showcased 16 emerging technologies, facilitated four technology transfers to industry, and connected 44 researchers and startups with iTNT Hub's pre-incubation and acceleration programmes. During this period, iTNT Hub also expanded Tamil Nadu's global innovation network through collaborations with leading universities, research institutions and industry partners in India and abroad. Partnerships with organisations such as the University of Melbourne, Rutgers University, Bosch, Amazon Web Services, Rolls-Royce, C-DAC and others opened new opportunities for technology collaboration, industry engagement and global market access for startups. These initiatives culminated in the launch of the Tamil Nadu Deep Tech Startup Policy at UmagineTN 2026, providing the State with its first comprehensive policy framework dedicated to accelerating Deep Tech innovation, strengthening research commercialisation and building globally competitive technology enterprises. Together, these initiatives transformed iTNT Hub from an innovation platform into a comprehensive Deep Tech ecosystem—connecting research, entrepreneurship, industry, investment and public policy. On day-2 of the Half-Yearly Crime Review we focused on AI-technologies in policing, NCL, administration and leadership, with a clear roadmap for the future of policing. Young IPS officers presented AI-based applications(beta versions) aimed at improving internal efficiency and monitoring,AI in CCTNS, promoting gender parity and encouraging women to take up core policing roles through technology, and integrating multiple digital platforms. I suggested improvements, and TG-SPARK will now review, improve, standardise and take these applications towards deployment across all units. We also reviewed NCL implementation, e-Sakshya, e-Forensic and ICJS integration, Telangana’s performance on national portals and the areas requiring improvement. Appreciated the top-performing units: Hyderabad (Cluster-1), Ramagundam (Cluster-2), Nalgonda (Cluster-3) and Suryapet (Cluster-4). Administrative priorities, manpower distribution, welfare, training, and coordination with other departments/courts were also discussed. I also held a leadership session for IPS officers of the 2013 batch and above, emphasising leading from the front, integrity and teamsmanship. The ideas, and tech solutions deliberated over 2 days will soon translate into tangible improvements in crime prevention, detection and public safety.

Empowering Balochistan’s Daughters, Powering a Brighter Future #Turbat — A meaningful initiative at Girls Cadet College Turbat brought education, technology and the extraordinary potential of Balochistan’s young daughters into focus. The Inspector General Frontier Corps Balochistan (South) visited the college, interacted with faculty members and cadets, and highlighted the importance of education, modern technology, discipline, dedication and hard work in preparing the young generation for the opportunities and challenges of the modern world. Addressing the cadets, he emphasized that education remains the foundation of progress, while technology has become an essential tool for learning, research, innovation and professional development. The students were encouraged to remain focused on their studies, make positive use of modern opportunities and continue developing themselves through knowledge, discipline, confidence and determination. In a significant step towards expanding access to modern learning, FC Balochistan (South), in collaboration with Parwaz Foundation, distributed laptops to 67 deserving final-year cadets. This was not simply the distribution of 67 laptops; it was the opening of 67 new pathways to knowledge, research, digital learning and opportunity. For these young cadets, access to technology means greater possibilities to learn beyond the classroom, explore new ideas, conduct research, develop digital skills and connect with a wider world of knowledge. Each laptop is a practical tool that can support academic excellence today and help prepare these talented students for higher education and professional success tomorrow. The daughters of #Balochistan carry immense talent, determination and ambition. As the elected representative of Madurai Central, Dr. PTR believed that the city's future should be defined not only by its rich history, but also by technology, innovation and knowledge-based employment. As Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, he worked towards extending Tamil Nadu's IT growth beyond Chennai, with a special focus on transforming Madurai into a regional technology and innovation hub. This vision was pursued through a combination of institutional investments, industry partnerships and strategic interventions. Alongside the establishment of the iTNT Hub Regional Centre to nurture Deep Tech innovation in southern Tamil Nadu, sustained efforts attracted new technology companies, enabled existing firms to expand and strengthened Madurai's innovation ecosystem. Today, the Madurai ELCOT SEZ alone supports more than 4,000 IT jobs. Four landmark initiatives launched in February 2026 by then Hon'ble Chief Minister Thiru. The Enactus World Cup is an annual international competition where university students showcase entrepreneurial projects designed to tackle real social, economic, and environmental challenges in their communities. Each team first competes nationally, and the winners go on to represent their countries on the global stage, presenting their innovations before panels of business leaders, academics, and experts. Zimbabwe came second globally thanks to Bindura University of Science and Education. Donald Mhlanga led a dynamic team of Last Baloyi, Tadiwa Takawira, Vimbai Euphasia Nyahuma, Jabulani Charity Mugonderwa, Tanyaradzwa Chanetsa, Tanaka Chimpelo, Tanaka Tempo, Billy Chitanda, and Liturgy Kufa. Their projects included a seed coating initiative and an energy access innovation where they developed shoes capable of generating electricity to charge gadgets. I personally love to see my compatriots winning awards because it once again proves that Zimbabwe has great minds. What we lack is not talent, but good political leadership to harness and support this brilliance. With the right environment, these young innovators could change not only our country but the world.
