Our veterans wrote a blank check to this country, up to and including their lives. The least America can do is keep its promise to them. Instead, too many veterans are stuck waiting for care while politicians put themselves first. Men and women who served this country should never have to fight their own government for the benefits they earned. Right here in Boston, Mayor Michelle Wu gave herself a raise while cutting benefits for veterans. That’s not leadership. That’s disgraceful. I support better care for veterans living with TBI and for our combat-injured warriors. Those parts of the bill are needed. But you still should not take away from one group of veterans to give to another group of veterans. Take the money from foreign aid and use it to take care of OUR warriors. Our warriors are the men and women you sent overseas to fight for the freedom and liberty of people in countries that often do not respect them, appreciate them, or give a damn about them, while our own government looks for ways to cut the benefits they earned. They picked him up and took him out to eat and found him a place to stay for a week. The fact that men like this are living on the street and going hungry makes me so mad!
