He was really interested to see if the Tesla AI software used for the autonomous driving in Robotaxi had noticeable improvements over his experience with FSD on his AI3 & AI4 cars and how it handled specific situations! As expected, Tesla’s Model Y ride-hailing service in the Bay Area currently has a safety driver in the driver’s seat, which is why Tesla is calling it a ride-hailing service rather than a Robotaxi service. It is still a paid service though and is likely using the same software as the Austin Robotaxis. Once Tesla receives the required permit, they will remove the safety driver and instead have a safety monitor in the passenger seat like they do in Austin. That could happen within the next 1–2 months, according to Elon.

2 times today now I’ve seen a Tesla Robotaxi manually driven! 🫢😮 Rides 7 & 8 both had supervisors here in Austin including one in the front seat even. I was purposely stress testing app to the max running 2 phones & having pick up/drop locations within 500 feet (in same parking lot) First ride the car was stuck & pulled into wrong entrance (made me walk over to get in) It immediately was blocked & got stuck, since destination was in parking lot it gave up & ended the ride. (World’s shortest robotaxi ride? Destroys the 220ft ish ΛI DRIVR & I had back in July 2025) 2nd ride it didn’t want to do a 3 point turn in the parking lot so instead of driving 500 feet it took us around the block 1.5ish miles, but successful ride

Took 3 Tesla Robotaxi rides tonight around Austin. Rides were perfectly fine and did great!! Only critique I have is that it dropped us off like a block away each time. When we went to dinner we had to walk a block over. I’m not sure maybe I should have reached out to support, but when it picked us up from dinner it picked us up in front of the restaurant. So not sure if the drop off was a little ways away in an attempt to avoid congested areas.

! RoboTaxi I got unSupervised !!! ride #50 in Austin! 2026-02-07th 10:00am here is the longer video. About 23 minutes. And then I let it drop me off instead of changing my destination so that somebody else could get it. there was a tiny problem on the screen it showed 20°F instead of 20°C. xfw4966 brand new. I was among the first invited to try out Tesla Robotaxi. A series of unfortunate events resulted in me getting banned from Robotaxi for life. I hope in the future there is some type of dispute resolution process. They made me delete all video footage and the app itself. I had zero time to explain myself and was just immediately expelled from the vehicle. However, I filmed this recreation so you can see my side of the story. Hopefully Elon Musk or someone at Tesla sees this and realizes I had no ill intentions, it was just one big misunderstanding.

Tesla self-driving version 14.2.2.2 gave up five times due bright sunlight. Is this the robotaxi version? What happens when there's no one in the front seat to rescue FSD when it gets scared of shadows and sunlight? No one knows whether or not safe Level 5 autonomy is possible with vision-only. If vision-only is possible then all the actual robotaxi companies could just stop using their LiDAR and radar. If it isn't, $TSLA is doomed.

An middle aged lady figured out that there was no driver in the Tesla Robotaxi, put on her brakes to slow down, and then proceeded to go all around the Robotaxi. If I could describe the look on her face to y'all. It was not excitement. It wasn't even anger. It was a combination of trying to figure out what her eyes were seeing, some cognitive dissonance being pulled from her amygdala to make her feel better and that this Robotaxi really doesn't exist nor does it work, and ultimately a look of "I'm going home and changing my medications". It was funny as hell! 😂

I got a lot of flack for my post this weekend saying Tesla has solved autonomy. Well after 2 more hours on 12.3.4 just now, I stand by this statement. Zero human input except for a few accelerator taps. Doorstep to doorstep. Is it perfect? No. But neither are humans. And it’s only improving from here. It may not work well in your city yet, but for my area it’s basically solved. If Tesla can solve it in my area there’s no reason they can’t do the same in all cities. Amazing work Elon Musk and Tesla Autopilot team. 🙌 When I first pulled up to this construction zone I couldn’t even see the path I was supposed to take. FSD nailed it without hesitation. 👇

My loaner car is a Robotaxi 🤖🚕 I had my car in service to have the tires swapped to winters, so they gave me a new Model Y for a few hours. It is incredible that the 'loaner car' they give you is essentially a robotaxi. I remember when I owned a Ford anytime I got a loaner vehicle (most times I got nothing) it was some beat-up dusty old thing that was about to run out of gas. The Tesla Service experience is so well thought out, everytime I use it I am impressed. Tesla Tesla_AI

I'm at this airport hotel in San Francisco, trying to hail a Tesla Robotaxi to Union Square. My closest designated pick up spots are 10 minutes away. You can move the pin for a pick up, but it settles on the little circles that are black with white around them. These are the closest to me. You can drag the pin around on the map and designated pickup spots will appear. Unfortunately not very close to me at the moment.

Let’s say Waymo wiped out Tesla and its Robotaxi taking my investment in Tesla to the toilet. I would still cheer it on. It will save many lives. Taking one is like getting a ride to the future. My sons probably will never learn to drive a car. Some of you might find that depressing but I will never get a call that one tried to drive home drunk and killed an entire family. The Waymo does drive closer to curbs more precisely. The Tesla has a better sound system and personalized vents. My wife and I used to fight over the vents in our Toyotas. Let’s be honest. It will come down to price and availability. I will always check all the apps. Tesla doesn’t yet let us bring our kids in a Robotaxi. That will change when it goes humanless this year. Had some awesome birthday cookies at Hot Cookie. Yum!

The most unbelievable thing just happened in my Tesla Robotaxi. There’s this dead end, which imo is the deadest dead end, where no Tesla has EVER been able to get out on FSD, without manual help. I ordered the Robotaxi from there just to test it, but this time there was a garbage truck in the way… and what happened next blew my mind. • Attempt #1: It backed up, paused, seemed unsure, then gave up and pulled forward again right back into the dead end. • Attempt #2: This time, it backed up, tried turning the wheel left to find an angle out, but again, couldn’t quite figure it out and went back to the dead end. • Attempt #3: Here’s where it got wild. As it backed up, a garbage truck suddenly pulled up, blocking part of the road. The Robotaxi slowed down, waited, observed the truck backing up for it, and learned from it. It then adjusted its trajectory, turned the wheel left, reversed, and then found its way out! What mind boggles me is that the AI learned in real-time. It seems like it took cues from its environment, analyzed the movement of the garbage truck, and then used that info to solve a problem that it failed twice before. This was real-world AI learning and adapting happening live! Absolutely mind-blowing.

Tesla FSD V14 truly feels like my Robotaxi experience in Austin. I drive this route often, and V13 would have some issues with merging in certain areas, V14 has corrected all of them. In certain scenarios, the car feels alive — you can feel it thinking. Love how it effortlessly finds a parking spot when arriving to my destination.

If you're interested in Tesla Robotaxi, Tesla AI or Tesla FSD, then you ought to know about jimmah . He's probably the one person who's done the deepest public dives on Tesla FSD and Tesla AI over the years. In fact, over the past 4 years I've published 40+ videos (!) with James Douma on Tesla AI/FSD (they are all on a playlist on my YouTube channel). I first discovered James Douma a long time ago (maybe almost 8-10 years ago?) on a web forum called . Back then it was one of the only places for early Tesla owners and TSLA investors to discuss issues deeply. While I posted about investing topics, James posted about Tesla Autopilot and its hardware but in a way that was more thorough than anybody else. When I started posting YouTube videos years later, I invited him on my channel to hear his thoughts on Tesla Autopilot/FSD. It was a riveting discussion and I was surprised at how much I could learn from him. I invited him again for another interview on my channel, and once again I was floored by how much I was learning. So over the years, James has been a great resource for me (and many others) to keep pulse on what Tesla is doing with FSD and AI (and even robotics). He doesn't have his own YouTube channel. He doesn't have any paid services or subscriptions. He probably has mixed feelings about so many people knowing about him. But I appreciate his willingness over the years to be available and help the Tesla community by offering his insights and knowledge. Alvaro is not very familiar with Tesla or autonomous driving, so he tried out all of the various ride hailing options here in Austin to get a good baseline for comparison. He tried a human-driven Uber, a few Waymo autonomous drives & the Tesla_AI autonomously driven Tesla Robotaxi & he has some very interesting and insightful observations! At the end of the day what did he conclude? Check it out!

And so I did! I drove from Sweden to Belgium yesterday, with the new Tesla Model Y LR. One of the features I’m most impressed about is the adaptive high beams in this car. This video was taken in The Netherlands and if you look closely you see how the lights adapt all the time, and also all over. It focuses strongly on the signs next to the road and very clearly blocks away oncoming traffic. When the traffic has gone away you see how it immediately lights up the left area again. I’ve even seen my Tesla light up signs further away. Also worth mentioning that it performs equally well under busy circumstances, as I have experienced in Germany yesterday. It’s astonishing to experience and makes driving this car even safer and more fun… Well done Tesla, you have succeeded in making the safest car even safer by adding this feature.
