A machine tool company near Strasbourg has been accused of illegal exports to Russia. Its CEO has been formally charged, and has been placed under judicial supervision. According to a judicial source cited by AFP, confirming a report by franceinfo, the CEO of Huron-Graffenstaden SAS is accused of exporting such goods to Russia in violation of embargoes imposed by the European Union. The Parquet national antiterroriste (PNAT) opened a preliminary investigation on October 9, 2025, following a complaint from the head of customs and after a check carried out in April 2024 by the DNRED (France’s customs intelligence and investigations directorate). The investigation was assigned to the national anti-fraud office and the DGSI. Executives of Huron-Graffenstaden, a French company acquired by the Indian firm Jyoti CNC, are suspected of setting up, starting in 2022, a system of fraudulent exports of machine tools to Russia via India. These machines are classified as dual-use goods, meaning they can serve both civilian and military purposes. This was allegedly done in deliberate violation of export control laws and EU embargoes, which were strengthened in 2022 following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. On March 31, four individuals - current or former members of the company, including its CEO - were taken into custody. Several bank accounts totaling nearly €4 million, as well as two properties, were seized. On April 3, the PNAT opened a formal judicial investigation into charges including organized smuggling and attempted smuggling of dual-use goods, supplying a foreign power with sensitive technologies and data that could harm national interests, violating international economic sanctions, participation in a criminal organization, and organized financial operations involving illicit funds - effectively customs-related money laundering. The CEO of Huron-Graffenstaden SAS has been charged on all of these counts, according to the same source. 📹 France 3 Grand Est

The time for action is now! We demand with urgency for the government to arrest the former President Rodrigo Duterte! We demand with urgency for the government to arrest Senator Bong Go! We demand with urgency for the government to arrest Senator Bato dela Rosa! We demand with urgency for the government to arrest everyone else who led and masterminded the extra-judicial killings committed by the Duterte administration! We also demand the government to extend the necessary protection for the former Police Colonel Royina Garma and preserve her life as one of the most significant witnesses against Rodrigo Duterte, Bong Go and their circle of murderers. At this time, the Filipinos have nothing but anger and the strongest call yet for accountability against these murderers. In a startling testimony before the House Quad Committee, former Colonel Royina Garma has directly implicated former President Rodrigo Duterte in orchestrating extrajudicial killings (EJKs) during his administration. According to Garma, Duterte personally directed the creation of a national task force aimed at replicating the notorious “Davao Model” of anti-drug operations, which incentivised police officers to kill suspects through a reward system. These revelations are seen as some of the most damning evidence to date, as Garma's affidavit describes how Duterte, along with Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, played key roles in overseeing the execution of these killings. Garma detailed how she was instructed by Duterte in a 2016 meeting to identify a police officer to spearhead this campaign, ultimately selecting Colonel Edilberto Leonardo. The task force, with roots in Duterte’s brutal anti-drug policies in Davao City, expanded nationwide, and the reward system was tied explicitly to police killings. These operations, which targeted both street-level suspects and prison-based syndicates, were allegedly coordinated with the knowledge of Go, who handled operational reports and financial reimbursements. After much introspection on her actions taken and the decision to spill the beans on Rodrigo Duterte and Bong Go, Garma stated that she is now “afraid of my life, my relatives, my friends and my classmates…”. This should bring the government and the Congress QuadComm to ensure that her life and that of her family are preserved at all costs. This explosive testimony has ignited calls for accountability, with human rights advocates urging the government to act swiftly in bringing charges against Duterte, Go, and other implicated officials. The evidence presented by Garma has intensified the demand for justice for the thousands of Filipinos who fell victim to state-sanctioned killings during Duterte’s "war on drugs." The government is now under immense pressure to pursue legal action and demonstrate its commitment to the rule of law. The Filipino people’s calls for justice grow louder, and the international community is closely watching whether the current administration will deliver on the promise of accountability for these grave human rights violations. The time for action is now, and the demand for the arrest of Duterte and his accomplices has never been more urgent. #ArrestRodrigoDuterte! #ArrestBongGo! #ArrestBatodelaRosa!

📢TURKEY'S TARGETING OF CHILDREN UNDER THE GUISE OF THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM WAS RAISED AT OSCE. ▶️Our representative Coşkun Yorulmaz spoke on behalf of Solidarity With OTHERS at the Human Dimension Conference 2024, which is organized every year by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and attended by high-level bureaucrats from member states. ▶️In the speech, the unjust detentions of thousands of people and the case including 15 children, which was held on September 23-27, were mentioned. International organizations and human rights defenders were requested to follow the hearings in December. OSCE OSCE/ODIHR "According to the Turkish government figures, as of July of this year, over seven hundred thousand individuals have been investigated under the country’s anti-terrorism legislation. More than three hundred thousand people have been taken into police custody and at least a hundred thousand people have been imprisoned. On the other hand, between 2015 and 2021, more than fifteen thousand children under the age of 18 have been prosecuted for terrorism-related offences. Mass arrests still continue. On May the fourteenth earlier this year, more than five hundred people were arrested in a single day as part of a nationwide police operation. The extent of Turkiye’s abuse of its anti-terror laws continues to draw criticism from international human rights bodies. The UN's Working Group on Arbitrary Detention expressed deep concern that the widespread and systematic targeting of individuals for their alleged links to the Gülen Movement could amount to crime against humanity. The European Court of Human Rights has, on the other hand, consistently found that Turkiye's application of its anti-terror laws was overly broad and allowed arbitrary prosecution of individuals without evidence which linked them to any armed conduct. We as human rights lawyers unfortunately observe an emerging trend in Turkiye where children of people who have previously been prosecuted under anti-terror laws are also being targeted. In May earlier this year, the Istanbul Police in separate operations arrested forty individuals including fifteen minors, aged between thirteen and seventeen for being members of an armed terrorist organisation. The children later complained about being interrogated in the absence of their lawyers or a psychologist, being constantly threatened and verbally abused during interrogations, being denied food although they were kept in police custody for nearly 24 hours. They also noted that they were pressured to testify against their own parents. Their case was heard by an assize court in Istanbul last week. The evidence against the children include nothing but social conduct such as meeting in each others’ homes to study together, going to shopping malls together and strangely enough playing bowling together. All of these innocent social conduct were recorded by police surveillance teams and presented to the court as recruitment activity. The next court hearing of the children will be held in Istanbul in December in a couple of months. The Turkish authorities should perhaps take it as an opportunity to show to the international organisations to which it is a member and of course to the world at large that the rule of law still prevails within its borders. On the other hand, we urge OSCE and its member states to monitor the said proceedings closely. We also ask our fellow human rights defenders to offer their support to the defendants and their lawyers. I thank you."

Prominent Toronto pro-Hamas organizer charged with terrorism offence Police allege Ahmad Hassan Hajahmad acted in association with Hamas following years of open support for the designated terrorist organization and leading demonstrations in Toronto. A prominent organizer of pro-Hamas demonstrations in Toronto has been charged with a terrorism-related offence after a joint investigation by the Toronto Police Service and the RCMP's Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET). According to Toronto police, 33-year-old Ahmad Hassan Hajahmad, who is also widely known as Ahmad Jarrar, has been charged with one count of participating in or contributing to the activities of a terrorist group under Section 83.18 of the Criminal Code. Police allege that during demonstrations near Bay Street and Front Street West on May 25 and September 7, 2024, Hajahmad used amplification equipment to make public statements advocating detestation and harm against members of the Israeli and Jewish communities. Investigators executed a search warrant at a Toronto residence on March 7, 2025, seizing multiple electronic devices. Following a joint investigation, police allege they gathered evidence indicating Hajahmad acted for the benefit of, and in association with, Hamas, which Canada designated as a terrorist entity in 2002. On July 20, 2026, the Attorney General of Ontario and the Government of Canada consented to proceed with the prosecution. Hajahmad was arrested the following day, appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, and has since been released on bail. A court-ordered publication ban currently limits what additional information can be disclosed. Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw said investigations into offences committed during demonstrations continue long after crowds disperse, adding that complex cases such as this demonstrate the importance of strong counterterrorism partnerships. Police also acknowledged the RCMP's INSET for its role in the investigation. The charge follows years of Hajahmad's public involvement in Toronto's anti-Israel protest movement. He became a familiar figure at demonstrations following the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks, helping organize rallies, speaking at events, participating in the University of Toronto encampment in 2024, donating Palestinian flags, and at times coordinating with police during demonstrations. His public statements have also drawn significant attention. In a widely circulated video from April 2025, Hajahmad stated he was organizing a Toronto "Day of Rage" at the request of Hamas. In other videos, he described his movement as "an extension to the resistance in Palestine.” He has also delivered speeches repeating antisemitic claims about Zionist control of political institutions and urged that children be taught there is "no such country called Israel." The arrest marks what appears to be the first terrorism-related charge laid against one of the most recognizable organizers in Toronto's pro-Hamas protest movement, nearly three years after demonstrations began following October 7. Previous interactions with law enforcement, including mischief charges stemming from a smoke canister incident at Union Station in January 2025, carried far less serious consequences. Given Hajahmad's years of highly visible organizing, repeated public statements, and even claims that he was acting at Hamas' request, many Canadians will reasonably ask why it took so long for a terrorism-related charge to be laid. Why is he also now out on bail? Authorities have long maintained they monitor criminal activity connected to demonstrations, yet it’s taken years for terrorism related charges to be laid.

Shocking information obtained by Beirut Politics In an unprecedented diplomatic move, the ambassadors of the 27 European Union member states, along with the ambassadors of Canada, the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland, and Australia, held a series of meetings with senior Lebanese officials, including Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, between July 7 and July 13. According to the information, this round of meetings is only the beginning, with seven additional visits to political and parliamentary leaders expected in the coming days and weeks. According to informed sources, the Western message was clear and firm: The need to swiftly reach an agreement with the International Monetary Fund. No circumvention of the required amendments to the Banking Reform Law. No weakening of the Financial Stability and Deposit Recovery Law by stripping it of its reform content. The sources confirmed that this broad diplomatic effort stressed that Lebanese legislation must fully comply with whatever is agreed upon with the International Monetary Fund, without amendments that would undermine the purpose of the reforms. This diplomatic initiative comes after Banque du Liban withdrew from the negotiation process with the IMF, while Parliament has begun discussing amendments to the Banking Reform Law. According to exclusive information obtained by Beirut Politics, the meetings carried two key messages: The first message: Do not tamper with reform legislation or attempt to circumvent it, because doing so would reproduce the very crisis Lebanon has been suffering from for the past seven years. The second message: There will be no meaningful international financing for Lebanon, no restoration of confidence, and no return of investments without a formal agreement with the International Monetary Fund. The information further states that several ambassadors believe some of the parties opposing an agreement with the IMF are not motivated by concern for depositors’ money, whose value continues to erode year after year, but rather by considerations related to preserving influence and authority, and protecting the interests of powerful financial and banking groups. According to these sources, the forces obstructing an agreement have failed to present any viable economic or financial alternative. The conclusion conveyed by several ambassadors and international financial institutions is that continued obstruction of an agreement with the IMF could leave Lebanon burdened by the consequences of its economic crisis for at least another twenty years. These positions remain attributed to diplomatic sources and international financial institutions, but they reflect the extent of international concern over the course of Lebanon’s reform process. Those who have warned have fulfilled their duty. Monitoring: 🔴 || Al-Mirsaad’s Narrative Raises More Questions Than Answers On the anniversary of Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani’s death, Al-Mirsaad English has promoted a narrative, claiming 1S**. KP planned attack targeting Haqqani from Pakistan. However, information from inside the Taliban’s own circles tells a very different story. Evidence points to the attack being organized from within Afghanistan, with senior Taliban leaders Mullah Yaqoob and Sirajuddin Haqqani authorizing the operation. According to internal intelligence findings, two Taliban officials posted at the Ministry of Refugee Affairs helped the bom.. ber gain direct access to Khalil. Their involvement, along with the political rivalry surrounding the Prime Minister’s seat, points toward internal power struggle, not a foreign-based plot. Al-Mirsaad’s new claims follow its usual pattern of pushing unverified stories. Its sudden rise in activity seems aimed at diverting attention as international pressure increases over Afghanistan’s rising terrorism and worsening internal governance. Despite accusations, Al-Mirsaad offers no proof that 1S.. KP directed the attack from Pakistan. The Taliban regime has also not shared any credible evidence with regional or international bodies. Information from the Taliban’s own intelligence wing contradicts their public statements, showing that the attack was planned in eastern Afghanistan and facilitated by Taliban personnel stationed at the ministry itself. Senior Taliban leaders, including Sirajuddin Haqqani, were reportedly involved in approving the operation driven by internal power struggles over future leadership, not by an external command. Recent UN Security Council briefings, including comments from Russia and Denmark, show growing concern about the rise of terrorism inside Afghanistan, not outside it. This directly challenges the Taliban’s diversionary narrative. UN findings reflect broader fears that Afghanistan is again becoming a major hub of terrorist activity, with the risk of spillover into neighboring countries. The killing of Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani by elements operating from within the Taliban system highlights serious internal mismanagement, even after more than two years of rule. For Pakistan and regional states, such events only reinforce concerns that cross-border terrorism stems from instability inside Afghanistan, not from conspiracies beyond its borders. By ignoring internal fractures and pushing blame outward, Al-Mirsaad overlooks repeated UN assessments showing that 1S.. KP’s main base of activity is within Afghanistan itself. As global concern grows over terrorism emanating from Afghan soil, unverified claims from partisan outlets cannot replace real transparency, accountability, and regional cooperation. As the Taliban attempts to rewrite events, Al-Mirsaad and other aligned outlets like TOLO News repeat claims that lack independent verification, raising serious questions about political motives behind this revised story.

Glazyev: To Halt Western “Hybrid War,” Eurasia Must Cut Off Financing for NATO’s Military Machine MINSK – In a sweeping strategic address, Russian State Secretary Sergey Glazyev declared that the path to peace and security for Eurasia requires a financial and technological “divorce” from the West, explicitly framing the continued use of NATO currencies as direct financing for a “global hybrid war” waged against them. Speaking at the III Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, Glazyev presented a stark geopolitical choice. “Our conference is called ‘Global Disorder,’” he began. “However, we observe disorder only to the west of Belarus. To the east of Minsk and in Belarus itself, everything is in order… The center of the world economy is shifting to Asia. Here, the core of a new world economic order is forming. And our Western adversaries do not like this at all.” The Core Mechanism: How Eurasia Finances Its Own Oppression Glazyev’s central thesis was that the current financial architecture directly fuels Western militarism. He laid out a precise economic argument, stating that NATO’s $1.5 trillion in military spending is funded by debt, which is in turn financed by the global use of its currencies. “The easiest way to stop the arms race is by ceasing the use of NATO countries’ currencies,” he stated unequivocally. “Because to the extent that we use the dollar, euro, and pound, we finance their defense expenses.” He provided a staggering figure: “The total volume of [Western] monetary issuance last year was five trillion dollars. Of this, two and a half trillion dollars is what the Eurasian states, among others, have taken on. If we stop using these currencies… we will practically halve the financial potential of the global hybrid war.” He called for a complete purge of Western currencies from internal circulation, noting that in Russia alone, entities hold “$600 billion in foreign currency loans,” which he labeled an undermining of economic security. The Ethical Battlefield: Lies, Theft, and a New Moral Charter Glazyev contrasted what he called the West’s “banditry and theft” with a shared ethical core among Eurasian nations. He pointed to the Minsk agreements on Ukraine as an example of Western deception, accusing Western leaders of negotiating with a “hidden agenda.” “In the US, their satellites have completely destroyed international law… The World Trade Organization is not functioning, the norms of the global financial system are violated, and the generally accepted norms of business ethics are ignored,” he said, endorsing the Belarusian-led “Charter of Multipolarity and Diversity” as the ethical alternative. He announced concrete steps to build this new system, revealing that work is “already underway to create a large social network that would unite hundreds of millions, maybe billions of citizens, who are ready to adhere to traditional norms, ethics, and follow their commitments.” The Digital Front: From Cyber-Terrorism to Technological Sovereignty Identifying information security as a critical battleground, Glazyev accused NATO of “systematically and consistently resort[ing] to cyber-terrorism,” including hacker attacks and embedding “software terminators.” He reiterated Russia’s long-standing push for an International Convention on combating cyber-terrorism, which he said the US and its satellites refuse to sign. “This means they are openly declaring that they will continue cyber-terrorism against anyone they consider their opponents.” As a countermeasure, he proposed a regional Eurasian convention that would include “an embargo on countries that do not join.” The Unifying Eurasian Vision Glazyev synthesized his argument into a definitive three-pillar strategy for security: “Thus, dear colleagues, the refusal to use the currencies of NATO countries, the refusal to use their computing equipment and information technologies, the creation of a social network and a union of moral and ethical common values, will give us the opportunity to form a truly strong foundation for Eurasian security.” He framed this foundation as the key to realizing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s vision of a “large Eurasian partnership” and a “common cooperation zone from Lisbon to Vladivostok.” Expressing confidence that a “common sense” faction in the EU—citing Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic—would eventually join, Glazyev concluded that these steps are a decisive contribution “to strengthening peace, cooperation, and security in Eurasia.” Video: AI-Generated Dub ⬇︎

Please like and retweet (X algorithm limits my views) The background leading up to the desperate Hamas Operation/ Israel's final solution for the Palestinians. There is a bug in modern international law, that is, intentionally causing people in other countries to starve to death does not constitute a violation of human rights, nor does it constitute massacre. This creepy anti-humanity BUG was developed by Israel with great pains. Do you know that the inventor of modern terrorism is Israel? It's not without reason that we associate Mossad with assassinations and terror attacks. It's in their DNA. In the 10 years before Israel was created, from 1937 to 1947, Israel launched at least 50 major terrorist attacks, blowing up 814 civilian aircrafts, two trains, one ship, and razing 385 Arab villages to the ground. Note that the above are only "major" terrorist attacks. Between 1947 and 1949, Israel attacked major Palestinian cities, destroying some 530 villages and killing some 15,000 Palestinians in a series of mass atrocities, including dozens of massacres. On April 9, 1948, Zionist forces carried out one of the most notorious massacres of the war in the village of Deir Yassin, on the western outskirts of Jerusalem, where more than 110 men, women, and children were killed by the Zionist militia of the Irgun and Stern Gang. During this period, 750.000 Palestinians were driven from their homes and became refugees in their own ancestral land. Refugees have the right under international law to return to their displaced homes and to recover their property. So Israel's current occupation of Israel is illegal. If you feel that these cold numbers are meaningless, let's look at more detailed descriptions and look at some "small terrorist attacks" that are "insignificant". On December 11, 1947, Israeli terrorists threw bombs into a bus full of Arabs from a truck, killing six Arab civilians on the spot and injuring more than 30 people. This kind of terrorist act was carried out on a daily basis by Israeli terrorists at that time, "insignificant" trivial incidents randomly picked out from historical records. Bombing Arab buses was as casual as eating and drinking. Only bombing planes, trains and ships can be called "Big Terrorist Attack". Israel is the father of modern terrorism. Later, all terrorists were inspired by examples set by Israelis. With this forceful means of expressing "protest", Israel's demand for statehood was finally met by the United Nations, and the Israel state was successfully established in 1948. It was assumed that Israelis would stop such terrorist attacks once they are given a state. Before the founding of the Israel state, 14 passenger planes were bombed, but those were all planes parked at the airport, so not much of a challenge for the Israelis. The first terrorist attack in human history to hijack a civilian airliner was invented by Israel. In December 1954, Israeli terrorists hijacked a civilian airliner in Syria and this form of terrorism was born. However due to the systematic suppression of unsavoury terrorist acts carried out by Israel, these acts are now associated with Islamists. It's very likely that Mossad organized the "brilliant" 911 in cooperation with CIA. Only after strong condemnation from the international community and having won several Middle East wars with the support of the United States and having gained numerous advantages (US military aid, hundreds of billions of USD worth's compensation from Germany) did Israel begin to become more "respectable" and endeavored to cultivate its image. Israel's genetic impulse to engage in terrorist attacks was temporarily put on hold for a while. After all, Israel has become a strong power from a once weak ethnic group. The PR cost for terrorist attacks was too high. (Thread will be continued) Video: Gaza after Israeli bombings

Last week, for the first time in the Romanian Parliament, the words "I am Taiwanese" were spoken, both in Hokkien and Mandarin, the most widely spoken languages in that country. They were spoken to assert a simple and firm truth: We cannot afford another nation martyred by a dictatorial regime, following the fate of Ukraine. We cannot allow Taiwan to become a target of political expansionist ambitions, economic and societal control, of a regime that does not respect human rights domestically and the rules of good neighborliness and collaboration internationally. My statement is a continuation of the efforts I make as co-chair of the Interparliamentary Alliance on China (Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC)) and member of the Formosa Club (The Formosa Club) to ensure that the Indo-Pacific region is not monopolized by an undemocratic player like the People's Republic of China, a player that has proven to prioritize the repressive interests of its party elite over the legitimate interests and aspirations, rights of its own citizens, national and religious minorities, and neighboring nations. This was abundantly proven this weekend when 10 Chinese warplanes crossed the median line separating the territorial waters of the People's Republic of China from those of Taiwan, in a blatant act of provocation. Below is the text of my statement from the Romanian Parliament on Wednesday, June 7, 2023: -------------------------- Dear colleagues, "Wǒ shì táiwān rén!" "Góa sī Tâi-oân lâng!" These two phrases, spoken today for the first time in the Romanian Parliament, mean "I am Taiwanese!", in Mandarin and Hokkien, two of the languages spoken in Taiwan. Through these words, the citizens of this country affirm their identity, an identity they have the right to have and to express freely. Identity is the key to a free and diverse society, where each individual has the right to express their culture, values, and aspirations. In Taiwan, this identity is flourishing, fueled by a rich history and a people dedicated to the values of democracy, freedom, and respect for human rights. Let's not forget that, like any free people, the Taiwanese identity is not defined by political conflicts or demarcation lines on the map, but by the people who call this island home. People who, despite pressures and challenges, continue to fight for democracy, civil rights, and freedom. And that's why, two weeks ago, I had the distinct honor of representing Romania at the inaugural meeting of the Formosa Club, a gathering of over 30 parliamentarians and MEPs who support Taiwan. As a member of the Romania-Taiwan friendship group, I witnessed a historic meeting that reaffirmed the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, an area of crucial importance for global security and prosperity. In this forum, we conveyed a clear and powerful message: any existing disputes between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait must be addressed through peaceful means and the status quo should not be unilaterally changed, against the will of the Taiwanese people. Any aggressive and reckless behavior not only harms reconciliation efforts but also unnecessarily escalates tensions in the region, an action we firmly oppose. Taiwan is an indispensable member of the international community, with much to offer in a range of fields. Taiwan's continued exclusion from international organizations is not in line with global interests. We consistently support Taiwan's meaningful involvement in meetings, mechanisms, and activities of multilateral institutions, including but not limited to the World Health Organization, the International Civil Aviation Organization, the International Criminal Police Organization, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Taiwan is a key partner and a democratic ally in the Indo-Pacific region. Every democracy, including Taiwan, has the right to develop comprehensive relationships with other countries to advance the common interests of their peoples and to promote the values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. We underline the urgent need to strengthen our cooperation with Taiwan, such as through the establishment of trade, investment, and sectoral agreements, to enhance the resilience of our supply chains and our democracies. We reiterate our intention to continue standing with Taiwan and to do everything in our power to ensure its democracy, while strengthening the close ties between Taiwan, the EU, other European democracies, and transatlantic countries, to defend our common values and the global liberal democratic order. I invite you to join this cause, to support Taiwan's meaningful participation in international institutions, and to recognize its value as a member of the international community. It is time to strengthen our cooperation with Taiwan, to establish trade, investment, and sectoral agreements, to enhance the resilience of our supply chains and our democracies. The right to development, to promote the values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law is not a privilege, but a fundamental right. These are not only Taiwan's values, but also our values, Romania's values, Europe's values. In conclusion, I want to assure you that I will continue to stand with Taiwan and do everything possible to ensure its democracy, while strengthening the closer ties between Taiwan, Romania, the EU, other European democracies, and transatlantic countries. Together, we can defend our common values and the global liberal democratic order. Thank you. Cătălin Teniță - MP representing Bucharest, member of the Partidul REPER

Geological Diplomacy Why Russia Should Maintain a Presence in UNESCO Amid politically strained relations with UNESCO after 2022, Russia will maintain a working channel of interaction through geosciences and geoparks—one of the few areas where we retain expert weight and a clear international agenda. ▪️The main recent result of this interaction is the Toratau Geopark in Bashkortostan, approved for inclusion in the UNESCO Global Geoparks network in 2025–2026. For Russia, this is not just a local success: the idea of a national geopark system with a base site in Bashkortostan is being promoted as a model for replication in other regions of the country. ▪️A geopark is not just a "beautiful place with rocks," but an official status for a territory where geology is used as a foundation for education, tourism, and sustainable development. The status is important because it confers international recognition, attracts tourists and investment, opens access to UNESCO's network of experts and programs, and strengthens the country's position in the soft science and cultural agenda. There are currently approximately 229 geoparks in 50 countries worldwide. ▪️The Karpinsky Institute, which also organizes specialized events at UNESCO, is responsible for preparing and providing expert support for applications. This allows the Institute to remain a visible participant in the international geoscience network, despite the general context. 🖍At the same time, the Institute is implementing an educational project with an international reach—"Karpinsky Classes": specialized geological classrooms with equipment, curricula, and online courses. Over the past two years, classrooms have opened in Cuba, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Ghana, and the CIS countries. We have been following them for a long time. 🚩A separate area is inclusive geology: adapting geoscience education for children with disabilities and audiences with limited access to STEM. In other words, geology and related sciences are being redesigned to make them accessible to those who are typically excluded by barriers—for health or social reasons. At international forums, this is presented as a contribution to the accessibility of science in countries of the Global South—an agenda that always resonates with UNESCO. 🏳️The third track is scientific. Russia remains a country with a significant base in polar research, and geophysical data from Antarctica fits into UNESCO's program on geodynamics, plate tectonics, and climate change. This is an argument that is difficult to ignore: in a number of areas, Russian science is simply indispensable as a provider of fundamental data. 📌Overall, all the aforementioned tracks together form an important and convenient tool of soft power in the face of sanctions. Russia demonstrates that it remains part of the global scientific community, is responsible for major sectors of the scientific agenda, and is building long-term ties with countries in Africa and Eurasia through education and science. In official documents of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, geoparks and geosciences are explicitly cited as one of the few positive avenues of cooperation. This makes sense: while contact on many fronts is frozen, science—sustainable development and education—remains a channel that neither side is interested in completely closing.

⚡️ BREAKING: The U.S. State Department condemned a UN General Assembly resolution adopted today and backed by a broad majority of states calling on Israel to uphold protections for civilians and humanitarian access in Gaza, including respect for UNRWA. ▪️In its statement, the State Department said: “The United States refutes every effort to empower UNRWA, a Hamas subsidiary that was complicit in the atrocities of October 7.” 📌 The move is the latest step in a sustained U.S. campaign to discredit and dismantle UNRWA, the UN agency responsible for maintaining records of Palestinian refugees and providing essential services across the region. Key context: 1. The Biden administration suspended all U.S. funding to UNRWA in January 2024 after Israel accused 12 UNRWA staff members, out of more than 13,000 employees in Gaza, of involvement in the October 7, 2023 Hamas operation. 2. Israel later escalated its claims, asserting that an “intelligence dossier” shared with the U.S. showed 10 percent of UNRWA staff had ties to Palestinian armed groups. Journalists at Channel 4 News and the Financial Times obtained and reviewed the six-page dossier and reported that it contained no supporting evidence, relying instead on unsubstantiated assertions drawn from intercepted phones and seized identity cards. The Financial Times concluded the dossier “provides no evidence for the claims.” 3. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said the agency immediately terminated the contracts of the accused staff pending verification. UN officials later said nine were dismissed, one was confirmed dead, and two were unaccounted for at the time. A subsequent investigation by the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services concluded in August 2024 that nine staff members “may have been involved,” but did not publicly substantiate specific evidence or identities, noting that verification depended on information Israel has not made available. 4. In mid-April 2024, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen told the New York Times’ Nicholas Kristof that U.S. intelligence had no evidence to support Israel’s claim that UNRWA is a branch of Hamas, dismissing the allegation outright. 5. In October 2025, the International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion finding that Israel’s claims that UNRWA had been infiltrated by Hamas were unsubstantiated. The court ruled that Israel’s decision to end cooperation with UNRWA and restrict humanitarian aid to Gaza violated its obligations under the Geneva Conventions and the UN Charter, and said Israel must allow UNRWA and other UN agencies to operate freely in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and grant the International Committee of the Red Cross access to Palestinian prisoners held inside Israel. The UN General Assembly resolution adopted today builds on the ICJ’s findings and urges compliance with those legal obligations. 🔑 KEY: Analysts say the campaign against UNRWA reflects a deliberate effort to dismantle the international refugee framework for Palestinians by discrediting the one agency tasked with documenting their status and protecting their rights. Many view the push to undermine UNRWA as laying the groundwork to legitimize the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from Gaza. 🎥 jeremy scahill spoke with Gaza NGO Coordinator Eyad Amawi about the role UNRWA plays in protecting Palestinians right of return earlier this year:
