As a kannadiga who lives abroad and recently visited my home back. I pained me that I could not go to a shop and use my own language. Every one in the shop only spoke hindi.. When demographic changes happen to your city, you will understand.

I understand the pain, but unless government makes it a law, the hooligans can’t run riots in the name of language. I have always supported the local languages and have advocated that people who stay and do business should try learning it. However, when you take black paint in hands, break store signs, you are inviting hate and driving people out. A Kannada, Tamil, Malyali or Telugu doesn’t get hate in north, but it is also painful to see people getting thrashed for not knowing the language. Historically, Bihar hosted Indians from all parts when it was highly industrialised. We welcomed all. Still we have central institutions in my own district: fertlizer, thermal power, refinery to name a few. All colours, languages and sizes are available. We don’t hate them. We embrace them. The banking thing is more for video, than for language. She is speaking English, which somehow is acceptable and Hindi is not. As I said, language grows with love, literature, cinema etc, politics eventually kills either the language or the place. If cities keep doing this, they will lose out opportunities.

I am your follower, but I totally disagree with this. You don’t know the ground situation. What you see on the internet half the time it’s Hindi speakers being rude to locals just because they aren’t speaking Hindi while buying something or doing business with them.
