This technology was put into use in our eighteen small county towns in 2019. I really admire this technology. It can make full use of waste and turn it into power resources.

From Garbage to Cancer: Why China Solves “Impossible Problems” Differently Than the West Today I read a report saying that China’s waste incineration capacity has already exceeded the amount of garbage generated daily. With 1,000+ waste-to-energy plants, garbage is no longer a chronic crisis—it’s a fully absorbed, routine input, even generating electricity and economic value. That immediately made me think about cancer. Not because garbage equals cancer—but because both are problems that occur every single day, at massive scale, and cannot be postponed. In the West, waste is still largely handled by landfill: store it, delay it, spread the risk across time and space. In China, waste is handled by incineration: terminate it, confine it, make the process repeatable and predictable. This is not about ideology. It’s about engineering throughput. The same governance logic applies to medicine. Modern oncology often relies on one-time, high-stakes interventions with cumulative toxicity and escalating complexity. Powerful, yes—but difficult to repeat, difficult to control at scale. By contrast, some systems are designed not to be “stronger,” but to be engineerable: self-limiting reactions, localized effects, no system-wide accumulation, fast feedback, and the ability to repeat interventions without increasing risk. That difference—termination vs postponement, engineering vs heroics—is the real contrast between China and the West. China may sacrifice procedural freedom, but when it comes to absorbing unavoidable, large-scale problems, it prioritizes: • predictability • repeatability • system stability Garbage stopped being a crisis when it became infrastructure. Cancer will only stop being a crisis when treatment becomes the same. This article is not about politics, and not about selling any therapy. It’s about why some systems can turn “impossible problems” into routine processes—and others cannot. Read the full essay here: 👉
