There is no other instance in history of so many people from one community being killed in such a short time - 40,000 Hindus in 2 nights. The plan was demographic change. If Hindus could be made a minority via mass killings, Calcutta could be included in Pakistan. The plan was thwarted by a Hindu butcher named Gopal Patha who organised Marwadis, Sikhs and Biharis and counter attacked.
