A Historic Milestone for Maharashtra’s Growth: Inauguration of Navi Mumbai International Airport ✈️ A moment of immense pride for Maharashtra as the Navi Mumbai International Airport was inaugurated today at the hands of Hon Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji. Under the visionary leadership of Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji, the dream we envisioned a decade ago has now turned into reality. The airport stands as a symbol of Nava Bharat, of progress, resilience, and renewed ambition. Conceived in the 1990s, this project had remained stalled for years. Once PM Modi Ji’s government took office, it was fast-tracked under the PRAGATI portal, and in its very first meeting, all eight pending NOCs were approved, paving the way for this world-class engineering marvel capable of handling 9 crore passengers annually. This airport will play a pivotal role in Maharashtra’s and India’s growth, with the potential to boost the state’s GDP by 1%. Alongside, the inauguration of Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Phase 2B), from Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade, marks another proud achievement. This largest underground metro in India, developed with support from the Government of Japan and JICA, will significantly enhance Mumbai’s connectivity. In line with PM Modi Ji’s vision for integrated and seamless transport, the ‘Mumbai One’ app was also launched today. This unified platform enables commuters to travel across Metro, Monorail, Bus, Suburban Rail, and Water Taxi networks with a single ticket, transforming mobility across Mumbai. A defining day that reaffirms Maharashtra’s journey toward a Viksit Bharat, powered by world-class infrastructure and visionary leadership. Hon Governor Acharya Devvrat ji, Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu ji, DCM Eknath Shinde ji, DCM Ajitdada Pawar, Union MoS Murlidhar Mohol and other dignitaries were present. #AdaniEmbraer Adani-Embraer Landmark Aviation Partnership Adani Defence & Aerospace and Brazilian aerospace giant Embraer signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Ministry of Civil Aviation. This partnership aims to establish India's first private-sector Final Assembly Line (FAL) for regional transport aircraft, specifically targeting the 70–146 seat segment. The collaboration is designed to build a "world-class aviation ecosystem" rather than just a standalone manufacturing plant. The focus areas include: •Final Assembly Line (FAL): Setting up a facility to assemble Embraer’s regional jets (E-Jets family) on Indian soil. •Indigenization: A phased increase in local manufacturing of parts and components. •Value-Chain Integration: Leveraging Adani’s existing footprint in airport infrastructure, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) services, and pilot training. •Supply Chain Development: Establishing a robust domestic network of suppliers to support global aerospace programs. Jeet Adani, Director (Adani Defence & Aerospace / Adani Airport Holdings) Jeet Adani characterized the agreement as a "vision taking flight," emphasizing its alignment with the national mission of Atmanirbhar Bharat. "It represents India's determination to build world-class aviation capabilities on our own soil. This project will redefine the future of aviation in our country." Arjan Meijer, President & CEO (Embraer Commercial Aviation) Meijer highlighted India as a "pivotal market," projecting a demand for at least 500 aircraft in the regional jet category over the next 20 years. He noted that the partnership combines Embraer's engineering excellence with Adani’s industrial scale. •Regional Connectivity (UDAN): The partnership directly supports the government's UDAN scheme by providing cost-effective aircraft suited for Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. •Bilateral Ties: The deal strengthens strategic relations between India and Brazil, fostering technological and industrial cooperation. •Employment: The project is expected to generate high-skilled employment and move India up the global aerospace value chain. •Market Positioning: Currently, approximately 50 Embraer aircraft (commercial, defense, and business) operate in India. This move positions Embraer to compete more effectively with the duopoly of Airbus and Boeing by offering locally assembled alternatives. •Location: While not yet finalized, Jeet Adani confirmed that a couple of sites are under evaluation, with a final decision expected within the next two months. •First Rollout: Government officials suggested that the first aircraft could potentially roll out of the Indian facility within the next five years. •Investment: Specific financial figures remain confidential, but the scale is described as a multi-billion dollar commitment to India's aerospace infrastructure. Source Highlights: •MoU signed in the presence of Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. •Aligns with the 'Make in India' initiative to reduce import dependence.

“Probable Cause: The pilot's operation of the airplane while intoxicated, which resulted in a loss of airplane control on landing” (and at the wrong airport) July 18 2019: a private Citation II crashes in Nevada (US), no casualties. Jet left the runway on landing at Mesquite, lost its undercarriage, and was destroyed in a fire. The aircraft was on a ferry flight, and it was not intended to land at Mesquite: the pilot was later arrested on suspicion of flying while drunk (later confirmed) (Below is an exact quote of the accident report: I can imagine that when this came out, the pilot was busy printing CVs) “After authorities arrived on site, the pilot was arrested for operating an aircraft under the influence of alcohol. The pilot was found to have a blood alcohol level of .288, which exceeded the FAA's allowable limit of .040. This likely contributed to the pilot landing at the incorrect airport and his subsequent loss of airplane control during landing” More info here, from the NTSB report "The flight departed Pasco-Tri-Cities Airport, Washington, at about 16:25 on a ferry flight to Las Vegas-Henderson Sky Harbor Airport, Nevada. While approaching Class B airspace, air traffic control noted the pilot’s slurred speech and repeatedly asked if the oxygen system was working. About 85 miles from the destination, the pilot reported having a nearby airport in sight and requested a visual approach several times, despite being instructed to continue southwest. The airplane soon dropped off radar, landed at the unintended airport instead, and touched down hard about halfway down the runway before sliding to a stop on the left side, with the fuselage and wings largely destroyed by post-impact fire".

PRIVATE JET CRASH AT LA ROMANA AIRPORT – PILOT & CO-PILOT KILLED IN FIERY EMERGENCY LANDING 🔥 A US-registered Gulfstream G200 business jet (registration N318JF) crashed and exploded in a massive fireball while attempting an emergency landing at La Romana International Airport (LRM) in the Dominican Republic on Sunday, June 7, 2026. The jet had just departed La Romana bound for Austin, Texas when the crew declared a severe emergency shortly after takeoff (around 16 nautical miles out). Reports point to possible engine failure or major mechanical/hydraulic issues. The pilots turned back for an emergency return. On final approach to runway 29, the aircraft came in hot, slammed hard onto the runway, wheels reportedly blew off on impact, bounced, skidded, and erupted into flames with thick black smoke visible for miles. Tragically, both the pilot and co-pilot were killed. There were no passengers on board. The aircraft was completely destroyed. Shocking video footage circulating online captures the horrifying moment — the jet hitting the runway violently before turning into a blazing inferno. The jet, a 2004 model operated by Aibonito Aviation LLC, had recently arrived from Puerto Rico and refueled before the fatal flight. Dominican authorities, including the Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), firefighters, and emergency teams responded quickly. A full investigation is now underway to determine the exact cause of the mechanical failure and the crash. This is the latest in a string of high-profile aviation incidents. Our thoughts are with the families of the two crew members who lost their lives.

#WATCH | Charter plane crash landing in Baramati (Maharashtra) | Delhi: Vijay Kumar Singh, director and key owner of VSR Ventures Private Limited (operating as VSR Aviation), which operated the ill-fated plane, says, "...It was the pilot's decision. He made an approach from runway 29, and then he carried out a missed approach, after which he again tried to make an attempt from runway 11. I also have no contact with the pilots; they are not there. It is a very unfortunate decision. We are very sad about it. We are trying to first be with the families who have lost their next of kin. It is a very unfortunate incident. Primarily, it appears that the pilot could not see the runway...He was a very experienced pilot, more than 16,000 hours of experience. The co-pilot also had 1500 hours of experience. The Captain was very experienced. He was with Sahara, JetLite, Jet Airways and he was very experienced on this type of aeroplane also...The aircraft was very well-maintained. There was absolutely no problem in the aircraf, there was no technical failure in the aircraft as far as we know...My deepest condolences. Captain Sumit Kapoor was a very good friend of mine. He was a brother to me. His son is also a pilot with us. Captain Shambhavi Pathak was a daughter to me. Both of them were extremely good human beings and extremely good pilots..." On the 2023 plane crash incident, he says, "What happened in 2023 occurred at Mumbai airport. It was raining then too and the visibility was low. The pilot skidded off the runway after touchdown. So, that was the incident..."

Vision, Growth, Opportunity — Maharashtra at IABCA 2025! It was a momentous occasion to be at the India–Australia Business and Community Alliance (IABCA) Global Leaders Forum 2025 in Mumbai today. A forum that brings together vision, leadership, and opportunity on a single stage. The energy in the room reflected the growing strength of India–Australia ties, with business, education, and innovation shaping a future of collaboration. India and Australia stand firm on a strong wicket; the time has come to play a 20-20 game in business and cooperation. In today’s dynamic geopolitical environment, both countries must work closely to deepen their partnership. Maharashtra powers India’s growth with 15% GDP, 20% exports, 30% FDI, and 60% data centre capacity. Leading in start-ups and unicorns, it is set to become the EV and steel capital. The comprehensive economic treaty signed recently has opened new doors for mutual growth, and Maharashtra is ready to lead this journey. Our Government is committed towards helping industry and entrepreneurs. All permissions are now given quickly through an online system. Australian businesses should make use of this and invest in Maharashtra. Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji has rightly said that India thrives in its States, and Maharashtra exemplifies this spirit. Already past the half-trillion-dollar economy mark, the State is steadily progressing with robust infrastructure, and global partnerships, positioning itself to become India’s first trillion-dollar sub-national economy by 2029. Vadhavan Port will rank among the world’s top ten, making Maharashtra a maritime superpower. Super expressways will cut logistics costs, while the Navi Mumbai International Airport opens on 30th September 2025. Nearby, Educity will host 12 global universities, with the University of Western Australia and Curtin University already on board, partnering with Gondwana University for Gadchiroli’s steel hub. This collaboration across sectors is reshaping the India–Australia bond. As Hon PM Modi Ji reminded us, the relationship once defined by the three C’s (Commonwealth, cricket, curry), then three D’s (democracy, diaspora, dosti), and later three E’s (energy, economy, education), now stands on the stronger pillars of mutual trust and respect. Maharashtra is proud to be at the forefront of this journey, driving opportunities that will strengthen India–Australia relations and ensure shared prosperity. Minister Jaykumar Rawal, Australia's High Commissioner to India, HE Philip Green OAM and other dignitaries were present.
