This bridge will prove to be a gamechanger for Alibaug since it is just around 11 km from Atal Setu's Chirle interchange. The travel time from South Mumbai to Alibaug will come down to just 1 hour 15 minutes from the current 2.5 hours once this bridge is ready! Mumbai 3.0, India’s Next Investment Frontier, Takes Centre Stage at WEF 2026 At the World Economic Forum 2026, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis announced a focused push to attract global investments into Mumbai 3.0, a next-generation city being developed by the MMRDA, envisioned to be three times the size of Mumbai. Backed by transformative infrastructure including the Navi Mumbai International Airport, the Atal Setu, and integrated multimodal connectivity, over 675 sq km of new urban area is being opened up, forming one of India’s largest future-ready urban agglomerations. Also known as KSC New Town, Mumbai 3.0 is planned as a thematic global city focused on Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business. A major milestone in the journey of Mumbai 3.0. MMRDA has signed a consultancy agreement with Singapore-headquartered Surbana Jurong Infrastructure Pte. Ltd. to prepare the Vision Document, Master Plan and planning framework for Mumbai 3.0, marking the formal commencement of the project's master planning exercise. The agreement, signed by Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, and Mr. Avinash Mishra, Chief Executive, South Asia, Surbana Jurong Infrastructure, in the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, takes forward the strategic partnership announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year and marks the transition from vision to implementation. Drawing on Surbana Jurong Infrastructure's global expertise in urban planning and its legacy in shaping Singapore's world-renowned urban development, the consultancy will prepare the blueprint for Mumbai 3.0, covering land use, mobility, infrastructure, utilities, sustainability, digital infrastructure, Transit-Oriented Development, mixed-use districts and future economic growth. Spread across 323.44 sq. km and 124 villages in Panvel, Uran and Pen, Mumbai 3.0 is strategically located near Atal Setu, Navi Mumbai International Airport and JNPT. A Century on Track. The Orange Line is rising. Mumbai’s Metro Line-12 – Orange Line Extension, being built by MMRDA, achieved another major construction milestone with the successful launch of its 100th U-girder near Dombivli MIDC Metro Station on Shilphata Road. The 23.57-km fully elevated corridor with 19 stations will deliver seamless, eco-friendly connectivity between Kalyan, Dombivli, Taloja and the Navi Mumbai International Airport. With this milestone, the project enters a faster execution phase, paving the way for quicker, cleaner and eco-friendly mobility between Thane and Navi Mumbai, while driving transit-oriented development across the Kalyan–Taloja belt. Running parallel to the Kalyan–Shilphata–Taloja corridor and integrating with the MSRDC Flyover for 7 km, the alignment will feature several engineering marvels including 100-metre clear spans near Kolegaon, critical Railway and ROB crossings, and high-rise station construction at 21–23 metres. Seamless interchanges will link commuters to Metro Line-5 at Kalyan, Metro Line-14 at Hedutane, and Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1 at Amandoot, with direct FOB integration to Central Railway at Kalyan Junction. The project is targeted for completion by May 2028.
