Hasan Piker says the federal grand-jury investigation into Neville Roy Singham and his network in the Southern District of New York is “the big RICO case that they have developed right now,” and claims PSL is being treated as a Singham front group. There has been no public indication that this is a RICO case, unless Piker has inside knowledge the rest of us do not. Public reporting says the grand jury is examining possible violations of federal foreign-agent and tax laws.

This is the same playbook we’ve seen elsewhere, and it’s explicitly modeled on the Jewish Voice for Peace style of messaging. Cuban Americans for Cuba says “this is not about the Cuban government.” But when every graphic and script centers U.S. policy while treating the regime’s repression, censorship, and economic control as background noise, that “we have no stance on the Revolution” line starts to look like branding, not neutrality. It’s an identity-forward “not in my name” campaign that asks you to ignore the system that governs Cuba, and focus only on the U.S. as the villain.

The slogan “Cubans out!” was heard at almost every anti-government protest. There was also resentment within the military. Mid- and lower-ranking officers viewed the Cuban “overseers” as a humiliation for the national armed forces. This was especially the case given that foreigners were paid many times more than Venezuelan soldiers.
