The right-hander kept Defiance off balance throughout four strong innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out two. 2028 RHP Miles Wolf slammed the door over the final two innings, striking out five and allowing just one hit in an impressive relief appearance. 2026 SS/3B James Bucci impacted the game on both sides of the ball for the Preppers. A wild back-and-forth battle in the Division II District Semifinal between #6 (D2) AWHS Baseball (20-8) and #16 St. Francis de Sales Athletics (16-12-1) ended with St. Francis scoring two runs in the top of the 7th to knock off the defending Division II state champion Generals, 5-3. The Knights now advance to face #5 (D2) Clay Baseball in the District Final. The Knights’ offense was fueled by contributions throughout the lineup, collecting hits from eight different batters. 2027 Tommy, 2027 Charlie Pastula, 2026 Brady Mitchey, and 2026 Drew Puckett each drove in runs in the win. Eagles/Cardinals 2008 NFC Championship, The End of an Era: Thanks to the 44-6 beatdown vs Dallas, the ’08 Eagles made their most unlikely title game and the matchup looked favorable. A 9–7 Cardinals team the Eagles had blown out by 28 just weeks earlier. But this wasn’t the same game. Larry Fitzgerald was in the middle of a playoff run for the ages, torching the Eagles for 3 TDs as Arizona stormed to a 24–6 halftime lead. Still, these Eagles refused to fold. McNabb threw 3 second half TDs, giving Philly the lead in the 4th quarter, but the defense couldn’t get a stop with the game on the line. Down late, the Eagles had one final chance. A 4th down throw to Kevin Curtis could have extended the comeback but there was no flag on a 50/50 PI and the game was over, Cardinals win 32–25. Adding to the weight of it all: longtime DC Jim Johnson would sadly pass away that offseason, and Brian Dawkins would leave in free agency. The final game for two Eagles icons, and the closing chapter of a great era in Eagles history.

David Freese has one of the greatest clutch performances, in one of the craziest games in the history of the World Series. #15 (D6) PH Baseball went on the road to face one of the hottest teams in the state, unbeaten #6 (D5) Archbold Baseball ⚡️⚾️ and came away with a big 4-1 victory to open its NWOAL play. The Patriots got a huge performance on the bump from Ohio State Baseball commit Mack Hieber. The 6-6, 220-pound righty went the distance, allowing 6 hits, 1 R (in the 7th on a weird defensive play), 2 BB, while striking out 11. One of the smartest baseball plays I've seen in a long time, and I'd like to share it with you. Bases Loaded with two outs in the 5th inning with izaacpacheco at the plate. Austin Murr is the runner at first base. Pacheco hits a ground ball to 2B. If Austin Murr goes in sliding, he's forced out to end the inning. If he runs through and continues on to third, he'll be safe at second and allow the West Michigan Whitecaps score a run before a rundown causes the inning to end. They wouldn't have gotten the run any other way. West Michigan went on to win the game 5-4 in 10 innings.

The Saint Xavier Bombers (27-5) lived up to their name in the state semifinals, but for all of the marbles it was a slow and methodical approach to best their arch-rivals in Moeller (25-7). Friday afternoon's 4-2 win secured the Bombers' 2nd state title in program history, their first since 2003. The scoring began early after a bobble in left field allowed Jack Ryan to score from second base on a ruled double by Jackson Sherrard. From there, both pitchers found their groove. Moeller's Nathan McDowell and Xavier's Liam McGeady recorded 5 strikeouts each while keeping the offenses off of the scoreboard until the 4th inning. Cullen O'Brien stepped up in a pinch hit scenario and delivered a grounder up the middle that got away from the Crusaders' center fielder to score the second run of the game. Sam Sprengard went on to reward O'Brien's pinch runner with a sac fly later in the frame to make it 3-0 Bombers. Moeller needed an answer, and it came in the 6th. With the bases loaded, Conner Cuozzo shot one through the 6-hole to plate the first Crusader of the afternoon. Matt Ponatoski followed up with a sac fly to center, bringing the score to 3-2 St. Xavier heading into the 7th. The Bombers weren't phased, and they proved it quickly by adding on insurance thanks to another sac fly, this time from Braden Bricking to make it 4-2 as they closed the door on their arch nemesis to claim the glory.
