๐ŸŒง๏ธThe Mumbai Metropolitan City (Mumbai City & Suburbs) has experienced extremely heavy rainfall over the past two days. In certain locations, an unprecedented volume of rainfall exceeding 350 millimetres was recorded within a short duration. โ˜”๏ธIn light of the prevailing weather conditions, all departments of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) were actively and continuously engaged in on-ground operations. Officers, engineers, pump operators, health workers, other staff and emergency response teams remained deployed on-field with utmost dedication and promptness. ๐Ÿ”นSpecial attention was given to critical work such as the storm water drainage system, sewerage network and pumping stations. Immediate and necessary measures were undertaken to ensure that the drainage of rainwater remained unhindered and that public inconvenience was minimised. ๐ŸŒง๏ธDue to the exceptional nature of the rainfall, citizens did face inconvenience at a few locations. However, Mumbaikars showed commendable civic discipline, understanding and extended their full cooperation by responding positively to the advisories issued by the administration from time to time. ๐Ÿ™The BMC expresses sincere gratitude to the citizens of Mumbai for their support and cooperation. #mybmcupdates #MumbaiRains CMO Maharashtra Eknath Shinde - เคเค•เคจเคพเคฅ เคถเคฟเค‚เคฆเฅ‡ Ajit Pawar Adv. RTI = RIGHT TO DENY INFORMATION? โ–ช๏ธThe RTI is under attack like never before - if the Modi govt has its way the Right To Information may well become the Right To Deny Information. Because itโ€™s likely that you may no longer get the information you seek from your govt. Read on ๐Ÿ‘‰How is RTI under attack? โ€ข Amendment of Section 8(1)(j) of RTI under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act), 2023 makes RTI redundant and ineffective ๐Ÿ‘‰What has Modi done to dilute RTI? โ€ข Govt has amended Section 8(1) (j) of the RTI Act that pertains to Personal Information. The changed rule says that no personal information can be given under RTI โ€ข This is nothing more than broad denial of information under the guise of privacy ๐Ÿ‘‰Why Furore Over DPDP Act Now? โ€ข Modi Govt had passed Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act) in 2023 when majority of opposition MPs were suspended โ€ข Govt had not notified rules so far and had put the changes for public consultation, the deadline for which ends today โ€ข If the govt undermines concerns from every sector quarter and notifies the rules then RTI becomes a toothless right with no good for people ๐Ÿ‘‰Why is RTI important? โ€ข The Right to Information Act was revolutionary, it empowered citizens by giving them the right to seek answers & information โ€ข RTI also made governance transparent and govts more accountable - just how it should be in any democracy โ€ข RTI has time and again exposed massive corruption or lapses in policy execution โ€ข RTI has unravelled violation of rules and human rights โ€ข RTI made powerless citizens powerful ๐Ÿ‘‰Did RTI really divulge personal information? โ€ข Absolutely NOT. In its original form, Section 8(1) (j) of the RTI Act 2005 clearly provided for withholding Personal Information which doesnโ€™t pertain to a public activity or public interest or which amounts to invasion of privacy ๐Ÿ‘‰So what kind of information can RTI now possibly deny? โ€ข Names and amount of billionaire wilful defaulters? โ€ข Wilful defaulters who have fled India? โ€ข How much loan has been waived off for the crony capitalists by banks? โ€ข How many work days have been given under MGNREGA? โ€ข How much grain has been distributed under PDS and to whom? โ€ข Whose names have been added or deleted from electoral rolls? โ€ข Income and assets of public representatives, bureaucrats and judges? โ€ข Beneficiaries of govt schemes? ๐Ÿ‘‰Does Transparency compromise Privacy? โ€ข No. In a constitutional democracy like ours transparency and privacy are not mutually exclusive but they mutually coexist to ensure various fundamental rights ๐Ÿ‘‰Citizens or Subjects? โ€ข The dilution of the RTI Act, 2005 under the DPDP Act, 2023 is a direct attack on both transparency and accountability which threatens the fundamental right to information. We are citizens of India who have a right to know and not subjects in a kingdom! : Supriya Shrinate ji

Media Release MLAs Implicate John Rustad in Alleged Election Fraud at BC Conservative Party AGM May 28, 2025. Victoria. John Rustad was complicit in a scheme to rig the results of the BC Conservative Partyโ€™s AGM on March 1st, according to a confession made by a member of his senior staff and other evidence reported today by MLAs Tara Armstrong, Jordan Kealy, and Dallas Brodie. According to confessions made to MLA Armstrong by a senior member of John Rustadโ€™s executive staff who claims to have participated in the scheme, approximately $100,000 was paid to secure votes from over 100 members of the South Asian community and on other measures to obtain votes for John Rustadโ€™s slate of directors and constitutional amendments. The MLAs also revealed that according to numerous sources, senior members of Mr. Rustadโ€™s staff handpicked the persons who were allowed to vote as delegates based upon the perceived political leanings of those people or their allegiance to Mr. Rustad. Mr. Rustad openly endorsed a slate of directors for the partyโ€™s board, a matter which the MLAs allege was itself contrary to the partyโ€™s bylaws. In one riding, every delegate was rejected except for one individual who happened to be a staff member employed by the Rustad caucus. Reports from a number of witnesses corroborate the confession by Mr. Rustadโ€™s senior staff member about the exploitation of members of the South Asian community. These statements included observations of large numbers of South Asian men arriving together and being signed up manually as voting delegates despite not having names listed in the partyโ€™s records. The MLAs are calling on John Rustad, the Conservative Partyโ€™s MLAs, and its board of directors to launch an independent audit of the partyโ€™s AGM elections. Written statements by the MLAs and two Conservative Party of BC members, Ms. Jan Webb and Mr. Guneet Singh, are available as background information and attached above. -30- Media Contact Tim Thielmann, [email protected]

An example of how the student movement was hijacked by the โ€˜third party'โ€”the BNP-Jamaat terrorists. Bangladesh Television (BTV) is one of the key point installations in Dhaka. When the BTV came under attack on July 18th, I was in my office. I had received a call from the DG of BTV and a few other employees with a shaky and fearful voice that it was attacked by the terrorists who were setting fire and vandalizing their office rooms. The lives of the BTV employees were threatened. The terrorists also vandalized the CCCT cameras and the related equipment. To our utter surprise, even after sending some police officers, the terrorists did not leave the place but rather surrounded the police and started threatening them. The police did not use any lethal weapons. The employees from inside the BTV were terrified and were asking for help to save them. They were desperately wanting us to send the law enforcement members to go there in larger numbers and use the lethal weapons to defend their lives. At that time, even the lives of the members of the law enforcement were at serious risk. Yet, the police showed the highest order of restraint. Because of the repeated attack from the anarchists, eventually the clashes broke out, and as a consequence of that, it resulted in some unwanted casualties. The attackers and attackers cannot be blamed equally for any casualty as a consequence of the clash that was initiated by the attackers in the first place. Nevertheless, a judicial committee has been constituted, and all the casualties will be investigated thoroughly, and anyone responsible will be brought to book.

๐Ÿšจ BREAKING: President Donald J. Trump signs an Executive Order renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America. Here is the text of the Order: By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered: Section 1. Purpose and Policy. As I announced in Executive Order 14172 of January 20, 2025 (Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness), it is the policy of my Administration to recognize the extraordinary contributions of the American people and the rich heritage of our history by naming great natural landmarks for our shared achievements. The United States is the greatest protector of the Great Lakes, including the body of water currently known as Lake Ontario. Without the security and investment provided by the United States, this freshwater system would not be open for shipping, recreation, and responsible use to the same extent as it is today. The United States Coast Guard supplies 9 of the 11 ice breaking vessels on the Great Lakes, securing commercial shipping lanes free of charge. The United States has invested nearly $4 billion in protecting the Great Lakes freshwater ecosystem in the last decade, while Canada has invested far less in similar initiatives over the same period. Sec. 2. Lake America. (a) The body of water currently known as Lake Ontario is a tremendous asset to the United States and part of our Nation's heritage. With the deepest parts of the Lake's waters lying within United States territory, the United States claims most of the Lake's volume. The Lake has long been an integral asset to American exploration, settlement, commerce, and defense. From the colonial period through the early republic, the Lake served as a critical artery for American trade, commerce, and military logistics, including the establishment in Oswego of a historic fort and the first United States port of call from the St. Lawrence Seaway, shipbuilding and naval operations during the War of 1812 at Sackets Harbor and other New York posts, and the movement of goods, settlers, and later industrial cargoes that linked the interior of the United States to eastern markets and the Atlantic. Maritime commerce on the broader Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway system -- of which the Lake is the easternmost and gateway segment -- continues to generate substantial economic activity for the United States, supporting hundreds of thousands of American jobs and billions of dollars in annual economic output, cargo value, and related business revenue, with our ports, carriers, and States deriving a significant share of the system's benefits in iron ore, limestone, coal, agricultural products, and other bulk commodities. Water from the Lake is used to supply nuclear, natural gas, and oil-fired power plants and to supply municipal drinking water to nearby communities. United States domestic and cross-border shipping activity on the Great Lakes system has historically underpinned regional manufacturing, steel production, agriculture, and energy supply chains in several States, reflecting the strategic and economic importance of these waters to the United States that continues to this day. The Lake will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping America's future and the global economy. In recognition of this flourishing economic resource and its critical importance to our Nation's economy and its people, I am directing that the Lake officially be renamed as Lake America. (b) Within 30 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of the Interior (Secretary) shall, in coordination with the Board on Geographic Names and consistent with 43 U.S.C. 364 through 364f, take all appropriate actions to rename as "Lake America" the body of water currently named as Lake Ontario, bounded on the south and east by the State of New York, and on the north, west, and southwest by the Canadian province of Ontario. The Secretary, conjointly with the Board on Geographic Names, shall subsequently update the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) to reflect the renaming of the Lake and remove all references to Lake Ontario from the GNIS, consistent with applicable law. The Board on Geographic Names shall provide guidance to ensure all Federal Government references to Lake Ontario, including on executive department and agency maps, contracts, and other documents and communications, shall reflect its renaming. Sec. 3. General Provisions. (a) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect: (i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or (ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals. (b) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations. (c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person. (d) The costs for publication of this order shall be borne by the Department of the Interior. DONALD J. TRUMP THE WHITE HOUSE, August 27, 2026.
