FSD took me into the HOV lane yet again today despite me being the only passenger in the car. This time when I yanked it back into non-HOV lane and tried to engage FSD again, it blinked red asking me to take over immediately and displayed a message on screen saying FSD aborted due to system error. I had to drive manually for the rest of the trip. I thought I got a FSD strike but nope, I was all clear. FSD v12.6.4 continues to fail. 👎 Tesla Elon Musk Ashok Elluswamy

Curious your thoughts on this one. FSD did not react at all to vehicles squealing their tires and swerving out of the way. This is a pinch point in the highway where two lanes merge. I mashed the brakes to avoid being involved in the mess, which allowed another driver to use my spot to avoid a potential rear ending. I saw folks slamming the brakes far earlier than I pressed the brakes and waited for FSD to react. It did not.

One capability I want to see Tesla AI ensure FSD has is understanding situations like this where a trash loaded trailer is on the highway at speed and the software understands this could be a situation where debris might blow out of the trailer and move back or over to another lane. That’s what most humans would do and it’s to protect from potential future damage or a dangerous situation.

Since v14, FSD has this weird obsession with moving from the inner lane to the outer lane during a left turn. For me, it happens on every two-lane left turn. And it does it in a very jerky, dangerous way — even if it means cutting in front of another car, FSD will still insist on doing it. Is this because FSD is more afraid of hitting the curb at the corner than of getting rear-ended by someone else? This really feels like a serious bug to me. I’m not sure whether it’s because the model is overfitted to avoid curbs during turns, or because it was trained to always end up in the rightmost lane after a left turn. I honestly don’t know, but I really hope this gets fixed soon.

Almost got into an accident this afternoon while on FSD. FSD thought the FedEx truck would make its turn quicker. When it realized it couldn't, it tried to go around. At the same time, there was a car approaching in the right lane. I assume FSD calculated there was space for me in the right lane, but it really should have just slowed down. I had to slam on the brakes and steer the car to the left to avoid the driver side of my car clipping the trucks bumper. It was way too close for comfort. I have done tens of thousands of miles on FSD and have never had anything this close happen before.

I did not start this. The 42 apparently doesn’t know where the RS of his car is and where he is in relation to the outside wall. There was 2 ft outside him and I was judging my left side tires to the hash marks. Always know who your racing beside. 🤬

As someone who is pretty up to date in AI I’d say there are 2 times a year where I am genuinely blown away by something. A breakthrough that keeps me up at night. This is one of them. I mean the video of will smith genuinely freaks me out by how good it is. 2.5 years of AI progress and you think it’s hitting a wall. There’s no point in trying to convince people where this is going. The writing is on the wall. I can bring a horse to water but I can’t force him to drink.

Critical Disengagement on FSD v14.3.7. Context: The car needed to leave the parking garage and go to HEB. It started from the second floor, made its way to the top floor, and I believe it tried to find a path through this metal wire fence. If it had gone through that, it was a 6 story drop to the ground. In the dashcam clip, it is clearly visible. You can see the car is at 4 mph throughout the whole turn and is not slowing down. It wasn't trying to park because the route was set to leave the parking garage, not park in it. Either way, driving at 4 mph inches from the fencing is not okay. I have an interior GoPro recording of the whole situation. It actually tried to drive into the fencing again after I restarted FSD. In thread 👇 Obviously since I disengaged, we don't know what it truly would have done. Maybe it would have made contact and stopped. This was as far as I was going to take it as someone responsible for the vehicle, so I believe this disengagement was fair. Here’s a solid example of the lightning quick scan and response time that FSD is capable of. Going near 60 mph on this dark highway I could barely notice this pile of debris until I was right on top of it, but FSD saw it just in time and took appropriate evasive action avoiding what would have been a nasty hit at the very least. Just had one of the worst drives I've ever had in 5 years with FSD in the rain ... for some reason even though it limits you to Standard it would not stop getting into the left lane (and was capped at speed limit). And the left lane was flooded in spots... Tesla AI - the left lane obsession needs to end. At this point it's bizarre. Especially in these conditions. I manually had to move the car back to the right 10 times in 5 minutes. And overall ... I'm not going to lie I could not see anything. My heart rate was probably at 150 bpm. So I want to be an FSD but I don't want to be 3 ft from a barrier hydroplaning.. When the speed is limited in these conditions and it won't go the speed limit anyway - FSD NEEDS to stay out of the left lane!!!

In this clip, we’re going straight, but FSD decided to camp in the obvious left turn lane to the far left until the very last second. I’m not in a rush so decided to just let it rip. FSD charismatically glides across 2 lanes to place itself with hardly any distance to do so. Like it was planning it the entire time 😂

And at high speed, that’ll make the hairs on your neck stand up. Tesla has solved seemingly the hardest aspects of autonomy… yet this navigation/lane planning issue keeps showing up version after version. This is my official plea to Tesla AI please make navigation a priority.
