🚨Oxford Research Team Wraps Up New Study and Concludes: STOP universal mental-health interventions in schools - it makes too many kids worse One of the original Oxford researchers of the 2023 study announces they have published this week an updated study concluding universal school-based interventions based on CBT and mindfulness theories have significant probability of resulting in negative effects, warranting their discontinuance in universal settings. Full text: "Can mental health lessons in schools sometimes make young people feel worse? Well, this is a question that we asked in a review paper that we published this week. And we looked specifically at lessons that taught either CBT [cognitive behavioral therapy] or Mindfulness to groups of young people in schools What we found was that in 9% of these studies something that was supposed to improve like depressed mood or peer relationships ended up getting worse and not better. And when we look specifically at the high quality studies, so the ones with big sample sizes and good statistics that we can really trust, that figure increased to 33%. So, in a third of these studies, something that was supposed to improve ended up getting worse in the group of young people who had these either CBT or mindfulness lessons. Importantly, this only happened in universal interventions, so that's when this mental health information is taught to the whole class, regardless of need. I think this evidence, combined with other evidence that we have, suggests that we should start moving away from this universal approach to mental health in schools where everyone is taught about mental health and move towards more effective approaches like one-to-one support or small group support for people who either want or need it. Heart+Craft represents a lot to me. It represents an artistic style and medium that I have expressed since 2014. It represents my present curiosity towards demonstrating value for NFTs beyond scarcity, FOMO, and promise of future value utility. And it represents my vision of a digital optional / physical optional future that I believe can be appealing to a broader consumer audience. Heart + Craft illustrates the potential of art and creativity driven generative goods. On the surface, Heart + Craft is a colorful generative artwork that illustrates my eternal love of gradients, contained in the shape of a heart. There are seemingly unlimited possible combinations of colors and blocks that make up each (Zelda inspired) heart container. But beyond the digital object there is potentially also a physical object, and whether you value the digital or the physical more is entirely up to you. Similar to the concept behind the Friendship Bracelets project, created alongside Alexis André, each Heart + Craft iteration contains detailed instructions for producing a physical analogue. And similar to the bracelets, the value of the digital is not diminished if it is ever separated from its physical counterpart. With this project I’m particularly excited about a lot of things including: The intent that rarity is mostly a function of the complexity of assembling the physical sculpture. The idea that this project could inspire people to take a break from our increasingly digital world, diverting attention to making something tangible that lives in their physical space. The opportunity to spread love and good vibes with a relaxing experience, like building a puzzle, that can lead to personal satisfaction while contributing to a more positive and colorful world. The ability to explore new distribution mechanisms for our digital objects via inclusive editions such as developing kits that come with cubes, paint, glue, and the digital ownership certificate all in a beautiful box. Creating goods where digital objects can inspire a love for craft, and a craft that can catalyze curiosity and foster education for digital objects. Offering a low cost and disarming entry point for new consumers into our space through a project that can be enjoyed as a family, or be gifted to tech/art curious friends, clients, and coworkers. Having another opportunity to perpetuate the beautiful spirit of charitable giving culture that occupies our space by donating a portion of the proceeds in support of the arts. Dear Friends, I'm so excited to announce the commencement of the unveiling process for our newest generative art collection, Winds of Yawanawa – a co-creation between the Brazilian Indigenous Yawanawa community and Refik Anadol Studio. It is a collection of 1000 unique AI Data Paintings and an Edition of 3 Data Sculptures, merging weather data from the tribe’s village in the Amazonian rainforest with the works of young Yawanawa artists. Dear Friends, I'm so excited to announce the commencement of the unveiling process for our newest generative art collection, Winds of Yawanawa – a co-creation between the Brazilian Indigenous Yawanawa community and Refik Anadol Studio. It is a collection of 1000 unique AI Data Paintings and an Edition of 3 Data Sculptures, merging weather data from the tribe’s village in the Amazonian rainforest with the works of young Yawanawa artists. Today, we are releasing a teaser featuring 1000 stills from the entire collection, offering a glimpse of the forthcoming artworks. On Wednesday, October 4th, we will share how these captivating still AI Data Paintings evolve into data pigmentations.
