The by-election was conducted to fill the seat left vacant following the death of Nkulumane Member of Parliament Desire Moyo in a road accident on October 10. Independent candidate Rodney Jele came second with 745 votes, while Auxikia Zitha got 325. Mothusi "Madlela" Ndlovu of CCC got 320 votes, Fuzwayo Mbuso (independent) 121; Alson Moyo (EFF) 65, Nompilo Malaba Ncube (ZANC) 18, Ethel Sibanda (MDC-T) 23, Vivian Siziba (Zapu) 110 and Ester Zitha (independent) 325. It's sad how the Manicaland Provincial leadership succumbed to their greed inducing them to act against the party's constitution which states that the said position was reserved for a woman who should also be from the same Administrative District. I do not blame Tungwarara but the Manicaland leadership which has exposed its insatiable hunger for money. When did a man become a woman for them to make such a greedy blunder? The whole episode, which is a clear strategic blunder deriving from poor political astuteness, reveals the limitations of depending on money as a political weapon. One has to build a proper support base and entrench themselves within the structures through sincere philanthropy as has happened with Tagwirei who has years of work supporting the party behind him. His track record as a benefactor for the party has been testified about, such as by Hon Shamhu in the video, such that his entrance into party structures was a natural progression. No wonder even those who fought against his co-option into the Central Committee failed. After this Tungwarara should realize that as President Mnangagwa has said, ZANU PF cannot be put into one's pocket. There is a need for one to actually work and not seek shortcuts into power. As a political consultant I have assisted many successful individuals for years and I can tell you today that one has to identify their area of expertise where their potential can be realised. This monied and misguided belief that one has to get a party position is shallow. Like him or not Chivayo has identified his area and doesn't seek a political position. Connections and king-making influence is enough for him and that is a strategy. Equally, Scott Sakupwanya has targeted the Legislative route, successfully. Tagwirei has ignored that and instead sought for a position in the party structure. For one sincerely building support in the party donations can be done from behind the scenes and even through the Chairperson like Oppah Muchinguri or the President. That suffices unless there is a misguided and impulsive desire for power which compels one to continuously hog the limelight dishing gifts as a shortcut to power. However, that can misfire spectacularly if done without enough political wisdom.

It's sad my brother seeing you hijacked by power hungry vultures. I have warned you before because at some point it will become tiresome, for the powers that be, to continue defending the movement from the same people and you will be caught in the crossfire. Another thing is that Manicaland Province has well and truly rebelled! It's one thing to have a preferred Central Committee candidate and another to scoff at the party's Constitutional dictates and leaders, flagrantly overriding them and daring any recriminations. That wasn't an act of bravery in supporting their choice but an atavistic confrontation against the civilised norms of the party. Mutsvangwa is very well known for his hate for Tagwirei and has already made an about-turn on the CC co-option issue; from ranting against it to suddenly steering it into the Politburo for further discussion. What further discussion is required when the Commissar Machacha has nullified the whole thing? While Tungwarara may celebrate these manouvres for his own political expediency their greater agenda doesn't recognize him as it has its own targets. In due time the palavering will be stopped.

Imagine if we had just 10 GENEROUS business tycoons like me in Zimbabwe, we would live in a better place. Exceptional and committed PHILANTHROPISTS like myself should never be the subject of such PETTY humor for comic mileage !!! It takes a lot of love and faith to be able to bless a whole lot of people that yo dont know , you've never even met and are not related to. The wiser thing to do is shower more praises and keep encouraging them to soldier on to try enable more people to benefit. On that note, after watching this video I have decided to spare yet another 850 thousand dollars from my SMALL SAVINGS to buy 100 Toyota AKWAYA'S next week. These vehicles will be randomly distributed EQUALLY across the country’s 10 Provinces , starting with MASHONALAND EAST , kumusha kwangu to the DESERVING youths who were outstanding and worked tirelessly during the Election period. If Chamisa said today that he is backing another player, that player would inherit that political goodwill. That is why General Josiah Tongogara was targeted when he suggested that Joshua Nkomo should lead the Patriotic Front ZANU/ZAPU upon their return home. Those who targeted him knew that ZANLA military goodwill that it got from the Povo would be transferred to Joshua Nkomo. Zimbabweans voted for a movement that had a candidate—if that candidate had been Joshua Nkomo, they would have voted for him. Mugabe benefited from ZANLA’s goodwill because ZANLA controlled the larger part of the country. ZANLA controlled large areas, and its influence helped secure Mugabe’s leadership within ZANU and later in Zimbabwe. Political goodwill is transferable within movements. If Chamisa were to endorse someone, that person would benefit from his current support base the same way he benefited from Morgan Tsvangirai’s social base. However, the extent to which goodwill transfers depends on various factors, including public perception and internal party dynamics etc. The ordinary person in the streets doesn’t always understand the elite movements, so they can boycott an election simply because “their guy” is not there. So, as long as Chamisa is there, a new candidate will struggle to get a mass that is enough to remove ZANUPF. This is basic political science that I know you will relate with as a scholar of African politics. These dynamics differ from country to country. In South Africa, the goodwill from the struggle against apartheid rested with the ANC, which is why people continued voting for it even when it became evident that it had gone astray from its core values. So at some point, goodwill begins to fade. Unless Chamisa does something spectacular between now and 2028, his share of the vote will decline. It is up to him to decide what matters more to Zimbabwe—his personal presidential ambitions or the national interest. If he wants to remain electorally relevant to the point of winning, he must unite and build a movement where he is not a dictator or a ruler, but a leader. If he does not do that, he will still run but lose, because the Chamisa who excited people in 2018 is no longer the Chamisa of today—even he knows that in his heart of hearts. Many people in ZANU did not want the struggle goodwill to be passed on to Joshua Nkomo, even though he was the more qualified of the two men, because they feared losing their positions. Similarly, some around Chamisa today do not want him to work with others, because bringing in Dr Nkosana Moyo or Noah Manyika could mean they might not get the positions they desire. In America it is called an endorsement, that is why Nelson Chamisa claimed that he was endorsed by Morgan Tsvangirai, he wanted his goodwill! That is my view Chipo Dendere. What is yours?

To remain silent would be to betray the liberation struggle and the people of Zimbabwe. I speak out because corruption has become institutionalised and there is empathy for the poor. Looters are now parading as leaders, and these thieves lecture the impoverished about the need to be patient with Emmerson and even give him more years to 2030. This will be a pipe dream. I assure you that the 2030 project will die in pregnancy. I warned that the party of liberation was being hijacked by Zvigananda, individuals whose only ideology is stolen wealth, whose only loyalty is to themselves, and whose sole interest in power is control over state resources. They are not revolutionaries; they never fought for this country, nor did they sacrifice anything meaningful. They have simply arrived at the banquet, feasting without shame, while those who gave everything for our freedom are left in poverty. I have also adamantly opposed the so-called 2030 Project and the dangerous bid for a third term for Emmerson. It must be unequivocally recorded that this agenda is not centred on national stability - it is merely a tactic to buy time, shield corruption, evade accountability, and safeguard ill-gotten gains. They understand that they cannot endure under constitutional governance and the rule of law. Zimbabweans must grapple with this painful truth: every attempt to amend, reinterpret, or stretch the Constitution for personal gain weakens our nation. POWER THAT FEARS THE END OF DAYS IS POWER THAT HAS FAILED. Thankfully, the 2030 Project has not progressed as its architects intended. Citizens, too, have said “No.” For speaking this truth, I have paid a personal price. I was forced into hiding, not because I committed any crime, but because I refused to speak lies. Zimbabwe has never been led by politics; it has always been led by the gun from the rear. In fact, the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) has always been led by the gun — only the Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU) was led by politics. The first leader of ZANU was Ndabaningi Sithole. He was removed by the Mgagao Declaration, which was signed by the military wing of ZANU, the Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army (ZANLA). The chairman of ZANU and its external leader was Herbert Chitepo. He was also killed by ZANLA in Zambia according to an international commission of inquiry set up by Zambian president, Dr Kenneth Kaunda. The next leader of ZANU was Robert Mugabe. He was installed by the military, although Samora Machel the president of Mozambique had advised them against the idea. Machel was proved right in the fullness of time, but it was the military that endorsed Mugabe through Rex Nhongo who became known as Solomon Mujuru. The Lancaster House talks in Britain were almost stalled by Mugabe’s intransigence, but it was General Josiah Tongogara, with the help of Samora Machel, who forced Mugabe to sign — after Machel sent his special aide, Fernando Honwana, to tell Mugabe to sign or come back to Maputo and write his memoirs on the beach. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, it was the military, through its commanders, that influenced politics. In fact, any time Mugabe felt threatened, it was the military that sorted out party problems. General Solomon Mujuru was nicknamed the Kingmaker because of that, he was a powerful behind-the-scenes Politburo influencer when he was the overall commander of the army. Post-2000, it was the military that kept ZANUPF in power and actually ran its elections in tandem with the CIO. It was General Vitalis Zvinavashe who threatened citizens saying the military won’t accept a Morgan Tsvangirai victory. Though not a visible Politburo member in the 1980s, he was deeply embedded in both party and military affairs. General Constantino Chiwenga was effectively a military commissar for ZANUPF, executing the first bloodless coup in 2008 when the military stopped Morgan Tsvangirai from taking over after defeating Robert Mugabe. He was heavily involved in the 2013 elections with Air Marshal Muchena and eventually carried out a military coup that put Mnangagwa and the current regime in power. When the new crop of so called technocrats was appointed by Mugabe in 2000, it was General Chiwenga who was involved and when they hit a brick wall, they would return to him. The first time the military refused to be involved in politics — which is the real first aberration — was two weeks ago, when General Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe refused to deploy soldiers against civilians and was fired for that. The ZANUPF spokesman Christopher Mutsvangwa called it disloyalty. If President Emmerson Mnangagwa manages to fire General Chiwenga tomorrow, as rumours suggest, without any blowback or deadly consequences, he would become the first ZANUPF leader to lead the gun — and not be removed by the military. So I disagree with the notion by my brother, Prof Jonathan Moyo, that the 2017 coup was an aberration. It wasn’t — it was the norm. What was an aberration was the amount of violence against the CIO and police officers who tried to resist. What has kept Emmerson Mnangagwa in power after his power struggle with his Vice President is his clansman, General Philip Valerio Sibanda who is the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces. He is opposed to General Chiwenga taking over as president and has been a stumbling block for the Vice President. Mnangagwa has been strategic by removing the former ZANLA army commanders from the top of the military because they are loyal to Chiwenga, who was in ZANLA, and replacing them with ex-Zimbabwe People’s Revolutionary Army (ZIPRA) commanders. General Sibanda and the Commander of the Army, General Emmanuel Matatu, are both ex-ZIPRA, and they are all from the Midlands, like Mnangagwa.
