I do not believe it is a binary switch that we can’t have a relationship with Pakistan if we have a relationship with India, says US Central Command chief, Gen Michael Kurilla. He describes Pakistan as a phenomenal counterterrorism partner for the one-off Pakistani support against ISIS-K in Afghanistan. The simping of Pakistan is strong on this one. This isn't about binaries at all. It's about common sense. Truth is the US has a strong blindspot-- it is happy to overlook Pakistani terror against India in exchange for half-baked strategic cooperation in the region, despite knowing that it is being taken for a ride by Islamabad for the most part. When Trump attacks judges, many Americans are alarmed because “bullying the courts” is a tactic straight out of the “authoritarian playbook.” In other words: would-be tyrants always try to intimidate, undermine and discredit all other centers of power. In the U.S. context, a wannabe dictator would try to run over anyone in authority — anybody who could make him follow the same rules every other president has respected. He would want to be “above the law.” If that is not Trump’s goal, he should say that plainly — and govern himself accordingly by immediately ending his assault on American judges. Because rhetoric and actions like his have proven to be very dangerous in other countries. Often, would-be dictators say they need to break laws, rules and norms to get “terrorists, murderers and rapists.” But as soon as any society lets a president break all its rules to go after ONE group— a dangerous precedent has been set. Now that same lawless president can violate those same rules to go after the NEXT group — and the next. Soon nobody is safe. This is how society after society has fallen into dictatorship (or quasi-dictatorship). I don’t want America to go down that path. An American president can enforce tough, smart immigration laws and uphold the Constitution at the same time. That’s the American Way. No patriot should tolerate any U.S. president attacking American’s court system, defying American judges or breaking American laws.

This morning, Modi government issued a statement in Hindi, which said that Narendra Modi clearly told Donald Trump that ‘he has no role in the ceasefire, and we do not accept any mediation. The ceasefire was not done because of trade.’ But within a few hours, Trump has now said "I stopped the war between India and Pakistan. I love Pakistan. Modi is a wonderful man. I talked to him last night. Now we will also sign a trade deal with him. Asim Munir was influential in stopping the war from Pakistan's side and Modi among others did so from India. But I stopped the war between India and Pakistan." This is indeed very puzzling. The Modi government is saying something else and Trump continues to be adamant on his own claim - which he has now made for the 15th time in the last 38 days. The reality is that the information about the ceasefire was first shared by Trump on X and not the Indian Government. Why is Narendra Modi not able to state openly all that he allegedly told Trump over the phone? India awaits answers. This is a matter of our national security and sovereignty and cannot be treated so recklessly.
