He scored against his old team and immediately ran to disrespect his former teammates and manager. Just months earlier, these same people were lifting trophies together like brothers. United signed Carlos Tevez on loan from West Ham, and he immediately fitted perfectly into Fergie’s system. Tevez, Rooney, Ronaldo. If those three started together, you could basically turn the TV off. The game was already finished. They won everything. Premier League, Champions League, trophies everywhere. Tevez scored 19 goals in his first season. So obviously, United were going to sign him permanently, right? Tevez thought the same thing while he was sitting there waiting for his contract. Breaking news, United signed Berbatov from Tottenham, a striker in his position. And Tevez was basically told he would continue on his current arrangement. He felt completely disrespected, but he stayed. The next season, Fergie started giving Berbatov more minutes while Tevez spent more time on the bench. United reached another Champions League final. And guess where Tevez started? The bench. That was when he snapped. United lost the final, and Tevez decided he was done. Then in the summer, United finally wanted to keep him permanently. Tevez basically looked at them and said, now you want me? Too late. He rejected them. And the next day, Manchester woke up to absolute chaos. Carlos Tevez had joined Manchester City. City then put up that giant billboard. Welcome to Manchester. United fans lost their minds. He didn’t just join another club. He moved across the road and started beefing with his old family. United knocked City out. He had prepared the revenge speech, and Rooney deleted the entire file. But Tevez still wasn’t finished. The following season at City, he took the madness to another level. During a Champions League match, he refused to come on. Then he packed his bags, went back to Argentina, and basically became a professional golfer for 5 months. City fined him. Tevez didn’t care. He was on the golf course living his best life while his teammates were fighting for the Premier League. Eventually, he returned, and somehow this man helped them win the league. On the final day, United thought they were champions. Then Agüero happened. City stole the Premier League in the final seconds. And at the title parade, Tevez had one final piece of revenge waiting. Critics even questioned how he dresses, walks and behaves on the touchline. He is too emotional, some said. Why is he always agitated? He is too animated. He doesn't inspire his players enough. The role is too big for him, others loudly bleated. Then came the 4-match blip, during which Arsenal were knocked out of two tournaments, and the 10-point gap was closed. The epitaphs on Arteta's grave were already erected. He has bottled it again. He must be sacked. He is not fit for the job. They described Pep and others as perfect and how much better they were than Arteta. Last Monday, we all saw Arsenal place one hand on the Premiership trophy, and I watched from the Emirates as Arsenal qualified for our first Champions League final in 20 years. Even in this moment of clear history unfolding before our eyes, some still maintain that Arsenal should have scored 5 goals, not just the solitary goal at the Emirates. UPDATE: The deal is sealed! This afternoon, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab (Tokunbo Wahab), met with Adetokunbo Ogunnoiki (tokunbo), a young innovator, who gained viral attention last Saturday for his daring proposal published on X, detailing how his startup can deploy technology to create seamless access to the newly-installed public toilets in strategic locations in Lagos. The viral post was brought to the Commissioner’s attention, prompting him to invite the whiz kid. Adetokunbo, in company of his startup partner, Ademola Gbadero, presented his idea to the Commissioner in about 30mins. They duo demonstrated how they developed a tech solution to solve similar challenges on their university campus, the University of Ibadan; the platform, the said, has successfully helped students locate clean and available toilets within the school. The Commissioner interviewed the young innovators in company of his cabinet colleague, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Electronic Geographic Information Systems (e-GIS), Dr. Olajide Babatunde, and the Director of Sanitation Services in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Dr. Sanuth. In their PowerPoint presentation, Adetokunbo and Ademola outlined their proposal for the development of an advanced model of their tech platform, which would enable commuters in Lagos to easily find clean and available public toilets in real-time using geo-mapping. They explained how their platform would provide users with information about toilet availability at every location, cleanliness ratings, walking directions and estimated time to walk to toilet. The Government team engaged the young innovators on their presentation, identifying areas for improvement and also highlighting potential limitations that could be addressed after the launch. Fascinated by the idea, the Commissioner approved Adetokunbo’s proposal. He also requested a comprehensive budget for the project be submitted in the next meeting coming in a few days. This project will further bolster the drive for a “Cleaner Lagos” being championed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. UPDATE: The deal is sealed! This afternoon, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab (Tokunbo Wahab), met with Adetokunbo Ogunnoiki (tokunbo), a young innovator, who gained viral attention last Saturday for his daring proposal published on X, detailing how his startup can deploy technology to create seamless access to the newly-installed public toilets in strategic locations in Lagos. The viral post was brought to the Commissioner’s attention, prompting him to invite the whiz kid. Adetokunbo, in company of his startup partner, Ademola Gbadero, presented his idea to the Commissioner in about 30mins. They duo demonstrated how they developed a tech solution to solve similar challenges on their university campus, the University of Ibadan; the platform, the said, has successfully helped students locate clean and available toilets within the school. The Commissioner interviewed the young innovators in company of his cabinet colleague, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Electronic Geographic Information Systems (e-GIS), Dr. Olajide Babatunde, and the Director of Sanitation Services in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Dr. Sanuth. In their PowerPoint presentation, Adetokunbo and Ademola outlined their proposal for the development of an advanced model of their tech platform, which would enable commuters in Lagos to easily find clean and available public toilets in real-time using geo-mapping. They explained how their platform would provide users with information about toilet availability at every location, cleanliness ratings, walking directions and estimated time to walk to toilet. The Government team engaged the young innovators on their presentation, identifying areas for improvement and also highlighting potential limitations that could be addressed after the launch. Fascinated by the idea, the Commissioner approved Adetokunbo’s proposal. He also requested a comprehensive budget for the project be submitted in the next meeting coming in a few days. This project will further bolster the drive for a “Cleaner Lagos” being championed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. 🕯️Remembering Michael Coleman, R.I.P 🕯️ Galway GAA are deeply saddened at the sudden and untimely passing of the former Galway Hurling Captain Michael Coleman of the Abbeyknockmoy HC Club. Michael represented Galway with distinction at Minor, Intermediate and Senior levels. He won an All-Ireland Under 21 Hurling title with Galway in 1983. He went on to play a starring role at midfield when Galway retained the All-Ireland Senior title against Tipperary in 1988. In an Intercounty career spanning over 10 years, Michael also won three National League Titles including captaining the winning Galway team in 1996. His contribution on the National stage was recognised by his selection on three All-Star hurling teams in 1989, 1990 and 1995. Michael also represented University College Galway in the Fitzgibbon Cup as well as being the star of the St. Jarlath's College team that narrowly lost the Connacht Senior B Post Primary Hurling Final in 1981. Michael took great pride in his club and was an important part of the Abbeyknockmoy team which won the Galway Senior Hurling Championship in 1988. When his playing days were over his commitment to the club was unwavering: serving as mentor, coach and officer over the years. Michael was also active within Báireoirí Na Gaillimhe, a group consisting of former Galway hurlers. Michael was coach with the Leitrim Senior Hurlers when they claimed the Lory Meagher Cup in 2019. Outside of the GAA, Michael was a committed community activist involving himself in many activities within the locality. He will be sorely missed by the Galway GAA community. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his wife Mary, daughter Sinead and son Dara, his extended family, the Abbeyknockmoy Hurling club and community at this incredibly difficult time.
