No deputies were injured. The suspect was 41-year-old Kentae Govan and the deputies involved were DS Diaz, DS Mathis, and DS Sookhoo. The investigation is ongoing.

On July 31st deputies from the Hacienda Heights, CA sheriffs department responded to a family disturbance involving a person armed with knives. They heard screams for help and breached the door and performed an impromptu 9mm ballistics gel test on his torso. "Callers reported that a male suspect had choked a female family member, armed himself with two knives, blocked a doorway, and charged at another family member. The suspect was later identified as 57-year-old Ramon Flores. When deputies arrived, they heard a woman screaming inside the residence. They forced entry through the front door and encountered Flores in a hallway holding a knife in each hand. Deputies repeatedly ordered him to stop, but he refused and charged toward them. A deputy-involved shooting occurred. Flores was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. Deputies immediately rendered medical aid until Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived. Police fatally shot a woman accused of slashing a 3 year old boy during an attempted kidnapping at a Walmart in Omaha, Nebraska. According to Omaha police, the suspect approached a woman and her child inside the store while armed with a knife, then forced the woman to walk ahead of her shopping cart as she took control of the child. The suspect followed the woman out of the store and into the parking lot. Officers responded to the scene around a.m., according to Deputy Chief Scott Gray. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a deputy-involved shooting that occurred this afternoon at the Sunoco store at 1502 Recker Hwy, near Ave. O SW, in Winter Haven. Nobody was injured due to gunfire. At approximately 2:45 pm on Monday, June 2, 2025, PCSO deputies attempted to arrest a documented gang member who was in possession of a trafficking amount of methamphetamine in front of the Sunoco. The suspect fled in a vehicle, crashed into multiple law enforcement vehicles, and forced a deputy to the ground, injuring him in the process. A deputy fired several shots at the suspect, striking the suspect’s vehicle, but the suspect was not hit. Deputies apprehended the suspect about a mile away after he sideswiped another vehicle after crossing the railroad tracks on North Lake Shipp Drive. Two occupants in the other vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. “The suspect had a blatant disregard for the safety of others. A very dangerous drug dealer is now where he belongs…in the Polk County Jail. Fortunately, our deputy was not seriously injured, and is expected to make a full recovery.” - Grady Judd, Sheriff The suspect has been identified as 39-year old Tonyo Evans of Eagle Lake; he has an extensive criminal history. Quick thinking #DCSO deputies catch another auto theft suspect. On Monday night, patrol deputies responded to a report of an in-progress vehicle theft on Mill Vista Road in Highlands Ranch. Responding deputies quickly established a perimeter and began searching the area. The vehicle was located, occupied, in a parking garage on Mill Vista Road. Upon observing law enforcement in the area, the suspect vehicle attempted to back out of a parking space. The deputy activated the patrol vehicle's emergency lights and pulled forward to signal the suspect to stop. The suspect vehicle accelerated forward, scraping, and colliding with the front passenger side push bumper of the patrol vehicle. The vehicle ran a stop sign and sped away. Deputies pursued the vehicle for a short distance, and the suspect vehicle spun out of control and rolled backwards into a metal railing, where it was pinned in place by deputies. The suspect, later identified as Armon Chism (DOB: 05/15/1982), of Denver, fled from the vehicle, and a short foot pursuit was initiated by pursuing deputies. The suspect was placed into custody after a successful taser deployment. While conducting their investigation, deputies were able to establish probable cause that Chism was a suspect in an earlier vehicle pursuit of a stolen Hyundai Tucson at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and County Line Road. Chism was found to be in possession of the stolen Hyundai ignition key and the vehicle was recovered nearby. Chism was booked into the Douglas County Jail for investigation of Motor Vehicle Theft, Vehicular Eluding, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), Protection Order Violation, and Criminal Impersonation. On December 26, 2025, deputies from our felony unit were in the 2200 block of Buchanan Bay Circle doing surveillance of a homicide suspect so they could serve a DNA search warrant in a murder that happened on Christmas Eve. While deputies were surveilling the residence, two men – the homicide suspect and another man - came out and the second man opened fire on deputies, striking one of our unmarked vehicles. One deputy returned fire, striking the 20-year-old shooter. Deputies rendered aid until paramedics were able to get to the scene and transport the man to the hospital, where he is undergoing surgery tonight. He will face charges for shooting at our deputies. The suspect in our homicide case – who was also armed with a handgun – was detained and was being questioned by our detectives late this evening. As is our standard procedure, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting and will turn over its findings to the State Attorney’s Office for review. Once that process is completed, OCSO will conduct its own internal investigation. The deputy who fired his weapon is on temporary, paid administrative leave.
