Last night, August 5, 2026, shortly after 8:00 p.m., deputies responded to a welfare check in the 2900 block of Hope Valley Street in unincorporated West Palm Beach. There, deputies encountered the suspect engaged in a physical struggle with his mother and father while armed with a kitchen knife. Deputies repeatedly issued verbal commands for he to drop the knife; however, he refused to comply and continued fighting with his father while remaining armed. In an effort to de-escalate the situation, a deputy deployed a Taser, but it was ineffective. Despite repeated commands to drop the knife the suspect continued the violent altercation while still holding the knife, a deputy discharged his service weapon, striking the suspect in the torso. Deputies immediately rendered medical aid until Palm Beach County Fire Rescue arrived. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he later passed away. In accordance with standard agency protocol, the deputies have been placed on administrative leave. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, and PBSO’s Violent Crimes Division are investigating the incident.

Employee gets fired from olive garden becomes unhinged earns a trip to jail. Corinna Yiselle Dillon was an employee at an Olive Garden in Brooksville, Florida. On April 2, 2026, deputies from the Hernando County Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a disturbance at an Olive Garden location in Brooksville, FL. Restaurant management reported that employee Corinna Yiselle Dillon was running through the kitchen and service alley, screaming, and refusing to leave the premises after being informed she was being sent home on a final warning. Upon arrival, deputies issued a formal trespass warning and instructed Dillon to leave the property immediately or face arrest. Dillon eventually walked out into the parking lot while continuing to yell at both staff and responding officers. Shortly after leaving Dillon returned to the restaurant property in her vehicle. Newly released video shows Utah County sheriff’s deputies and Utah Highway Patrol troopers stopping a wrong-way driver on I-15 early last month. According to the original incident report, two deputies responded to an agency assist after reports of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-15 near mile marker 263. Deputies located the vehicle near mile marker 269. One deputy struck the driver’s side of the vehicle, spinning it into another deputy’s patrol car, which prevented the wrong-way vehicle from reentering traffic. Both deputies and both occupants of the vehicle were not injured. All three vehicles sustained damage. Utah Highway Patrol took over the crash investigation and investigated the driver for DUI. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened shortly after 4 a.m. on Jan. 24, calling wrong-way driving a recurring and dangerous problem on Utah roadways. The sheriff’s office praised the deputies for putting themselves in harm’s way and said it is grateful no one was hurt. UHP continues to handle the crash and DUI investigation.

Last night, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office DFR (Drone as First Responder) pilots used RapidSOS live 911 monitoring to launch one of our unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly known as a drone, in response to a report of a suspicious person in the backyard of a residence in Sparks. The drone was airborne and on scene within three minutes of the call being broadcast to patrol deputies. Once overhead, DFR pilots began canvassing the area and relaying real-time information to responding deputies. Using thermal imaging in low-light conditions, the drone successfully located the suspect in the backyard of a nearby residence on Cromwell Place. Pilots continued to provide live updates on the suspect’s location and behavior, allowing deputies to safely detain the individual without incident. Further investigation revealed the suspect, identified as Ryan Davis, 38, had forcibly entered a residence and moved through multiple neighboring backyards prior to being located. Davis was arrested and transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility, where he was booked on a felony charge of home invasion and an additional charge of trespassing. This incident highlights the outstanding coordination between patrol deputies and our DFR pilots, demonstrating how advanced aerial technology is not used for routine surveillance or to monitor lawful activity. DFRs are deployed for specific, time-limited public safety purposes—their use allows deputies to gain real-time situational awareness before making contact, often reducing the need for force and lowering risk to both the public and responding officers. Quick thinking #DCSO deputies catch another auto theft suspect. On Monday night, patrol deputies responded to a report of an in-progress vehicle theft on Mill Vista Road in Highlands Ranch. Responding deputies quickly established a perimeter and began searching the area. The vehicle was located, occupied, in a parking garage on Mill Vista Road. Upon observing law enforcement in the area, the suspect vehicle attempted to back out of a parking space. The deputy activated the patrol vehicle's emergency lights and pulled forward to signal the suspect to stop. The suspect vehicle accelerated forward, scraping, and colliding with the front passenger side push bumper of the patrol vehicle. The vehicle ran a stop sign and sped away. Deputies pursued the vehicle for a short distance, and the suspect vehicle spun out of control and rolled backwards into a metal railing, where it was pinned in place by deputies. The suspect, later identified as Armon Chism (DOB: 05/15/1982), of Denver, fled from the vehicle, and a short foot pursuit was initiated by pursuing deputies. The suspect was placed into custody after a successful taser deployment. While conducting their investigation, deputies were able to establish probable cause that Chism was a suspect in an earlier vehicle pursuit of a stolen Hyundai Tucson at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and County Line Road. Chism was found to be in possession of the stolen Hyundai ignition key and the vehicle was recovered nearby. Chism was booked into the Douglas County Jail for investigation of Motor Vehicle Theft, Vehicular Eluding, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), Protection Order Violation, and Criminal Impersonation. Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said, “We will not allow criminals to victimize Douglas County residents. We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community will continue to work tirelessly to protect our residents and their property. I am so proud of my deputies who responded quickly and didn’t give up until this suspect was in custody.”

New bodycam footage was released today showing the arrest of the driver after a pickup truck drove through a toll booth onto a Volusia County beach in Daytona Beach Shores, killing a toll worker. The toll booth attendant, Tammie Jo Baker, was just a few weeks shy of her 63rd birthday. The driver, 36-year-old Deanna Harrell of Ormond Beach, was driving approximately 40 mph when she struck the booth. After the impact she continued toward the water before getting stuck in the sand. Bystanders ran to the truck and pulled her out. Deputies reported a heavy odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Sheriff Mike Chitwood said “I think she was probably close to being killed on impact.” Tammie Jo Baker went to work that Monday afternoon and never came home. Deanna Harrell is in custody. The driver, 36-year-old Deanna Harrell of Ormond Beach, was driving approximately 40 mph when she struck the booth. After the impact she continued toward the water before getting stuck in the sand. Bystanders ran to the truck and pulled her out. Deputies reported a heavy odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Sheriff Mike Chitwood said “I think she was probably close to being killed on impact.” Tammie Jo Baker went to work that Monday afternoon and never came home. Deanna Harrell is in custody.
