There has been significant media interest in understanding why Rwanda is in Congo, why it supports the AFC/M23 militia, and what its ultimate goal is. However, this line of questioning is problematic as it erases 30 years of history, during which both Rwanda and Uganda have played a devastating role in the Congo. Ending the war in the Congo requires justice. Justice will only be achieved when Rwanda and Uganda are held accountable for their crimes in the region, something that can only happen if their Western backers withdraw support. In the case of the United States, Secretary Rubio must enforce Section 105 of Public Law 109-456 by withholding military aid to Rwanda due to its backing of the AFC/M23 alliance. Congratulations to the ESPN team & and all the Rwandan colleagues that worked on the Investigative documentary about the sportswashing by the Kagame’s autocratic regime in Rwanda. It was a finalist at the IRE Prestigious awards. Rwanda requests that the United States brief the UN Security Council on the progress of the Washington peace process. Ignorance within the Council, whether feigned or genuine, is hurting efforts to restore peace in the DRC. Good news: Rwanda has a remedy for whichever form of ignorance some Security Council members may be suffering from. The U.S. representative should consider reminding everyone that Secretary of State Marco Rubio , and U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos worked tirelessly under the leadership of President Donald Trump to broker a peace agreement between the DRC and Rwanda. That agreement must be respected. This means that no one should again demand that Rwanda lift its defensive measures before President Tshisekedi fulfils his commitments, namely, the neutralisation of the FDLR and its affiliated armed groups.

The United States has laid out how Rwanda, under Paul Kagame, is a spoiler to peace. How will Washington hold Paul Kagame to account in light of this? In his address to the United Nations, US Ambassador Mike Waltz said Rwanda has strategic control of its proxy militia M23 and its political wing AFC, and uses them to achieve its geopolitical goals in Congo. "Kigali has been intimately involved in planning and executing the war in eastern DRC, providing military and political direction to M23 forces and AFC for years now. The Rwandan Defense Forces have provided material, logistics and training support to M23 as well as fighting alongside the M23 in DRC with roughly 5-7,000 troops as of early December.." Waltz said Rwanda has deployed multiple surface-to-air missiles and other heavy sophisticated weaponry in North and South Kivu to aid M23, and in the latest offensive against Uvira, Rwandan forces were present with M23 along the front lines. The US also has credible reports of the increased use of suicide drones, of artillery by Rwanda and M23, and their strikes into Burundi. "So rather than a march towards peace, Rwanda is leading the region towards increased instability and war."

Imagine if someone said, “Soon we are going to bring war to the USA, since the international community stands with us.” Do you think the FBI or CIA would just scroll past the video? Why would Rwanda sit idly by when a Congolese member of parliament firmly confirms that the international community stands with Congo, and therefore they are going to bring war to Rwanda because Rwanda is small? Do you think Secretary Marco Rubio would just ignore it? Why do they think Rwanda can simply ignore this? This Willy Mishiki added that they are going to make the war a media war,which they are already doing by misleading the international community! To come back to PK's statement about geographical mineral distribution in the Great Lakes region, how would Rwanda be cut-out from areas endowed with minerals when it shares the same topographical features. Hypocrisy & Double Standards in the DRC-Rwanda Conflict Tshisekedi Felix Tshisekedi - UDPS says he will soon declare war on #Rwanda and claims he has the means to bomb #Kigali without leaving the #DRC. His Justice Minister, Constant Mutamba , reinforced this statement. Rwanda responded by strengthening preventive measures to protect its people. But Western countries warn that if Rwanda does it, it will be sanctioned! KAGAME ADMITS DRC PLUNDER GOES THROUGH RWANDA With the Kigali-backed M23 rebels making rapid gains in eastern DRC, here’s a flashback to 2022 - when Rwanda’s president, Paul Kagame, openly admitted that plundered loot from the neighbouring Congo went through his country. But instead of taking responsibility, he attempts to deflect blame. He urges his audience to focus on the final destinations of the stolen minerals - he cites Dubai, Brussels, Tel Aviv - claiming that if Kigali stopped the flow, there’d be trouble for Kigali. But this lame excuse is a calculated deception: Rwanda isn’t merely a transit point, it’s one of the biggest profiteers from Congo’s suffering. Despite having almost no mineral reserves of its own, Rwanda has become one of the world's leading exporters of coltan and gold, all of which are overwhemingly mined in the DRC. Moreover, the UN has pointed the finger at Rwanda, saying there is strong evidence it’s backing the atrocities-committing M23, and has sent up to 4,000 of its own soldiers over the border to assist the rebels in their deadly mine-grabbing rampage. So while Kagame might be right that the buyers of plundered Congolese wealth are guilty of fanning the war, his shameless attempt to pass the buck ignores the fact that Rwanda is a central player in this blood-stained supply chain.
