The now six-foot-five right-hander has already experienced the Junior Future Games (2023) and Super Sophomore Games (2024), and if all goes well this spring, he should be in consideration for this yearโ€™s Future Games team. Ranked 3rd in the state and 192nd nationally, Hicks has a frame that oozes projection with a quick, compact arm stroke into a three-quarter slot. He hides the ball well and has the arm speed that allows his fastball to get on hitters quickly. Some of his heaters run arm-side more than others, and the ones that do give right-handed hitters issues. The fastball has been up to 88.8 MPH on Trackman, and we saw that velocity upheld in-game during the fall tournament circuit. Hicksโ€™ low-80s slider is a swing-and-miss weapon with late movement, and the two pitches are a strong foundation. This past summer Hicks paced all freshman arms with 95 strikeouts (24th among all pitchers) in 65.1 innings pitched. The 95 strikeouts from a freshman pitcher was the most since Blaine Harpenauโ€™s 101 total in the 2017-2018 season. Overall, Hicks made 11 starts for the Eagles and went 6-2 with a 1.39 ERA and a .177 batting average allowed. Big things are ahead for this young arm. More on Brady โคต๏ธ

QUICK THOUGHT: I recall one time Odell Beckham Jr. shared a video with me from his private workout in Arizona for NFL teams as he attempted to show he was back a year after tearing his ACL in Super Bowl 56 with the Rams. I looked at the video and I saw he had more confidence, but I also could see his vintage second-level gear was not there, just yet; and I actually told him that. I know what it looks like because Iโ€™ve seen it so many times covering him before; plus, Track people have an eye for those things. After that, Odell battled with some injuries, the depth of which he hasnโ€™t fully disclosed publicly, but Iโ€™ll say I always knew, before he returned to the Giants today, that his injury setbacks had been a considerable factor before in his previous stops, as was his utilization and some unfulfilled promisesโ€ฆ.. Fast forward to this year, I attended one #Giants mandatory camp practice back in June to visit the team and to get a feel for where things were at. I didnโ€™t have to be there long to have my eyes confirm what Beckham Jr. already told me several times before. I mentioned a number of times OBJ told me he was getting his legs back. As I mentally comparing the sights before me, to that day of his workout in Arizona, I knew I saw something different in his movement. The movement that comes from better physical and personal alignment; from oneโ€™s purpose changing. Quite simply, I saw flashes of his overall bounce again. A lot of that is physical healing. The most defining difference is clearer headspace; the lift you get from internally knowing youโ€™ve weathered the storm. Itโ€™s been a long road since his rookie year, but there is nothing like the feeling one gets from persevering from disappointments and just life overall. OBJ returns to New York now as a Super Bowl champion, a father, and in the official Giants uniform once more. Most importantly, I know heโ€™s most glad heโ€™s received the opportunity to show that to his son, whilst seeing how the future unfolds. Always 13 in New York. #Giants.

RHP Daniel Avitia (Grand Canyon Baseball) is one of the most polished arms in the entire 2024 Draft. Avitia burst onto the scene in '22 as a Freshman, pitching his way to a 4.06 ERA with an outstanding strikeout-to-walk ratio of 111-to-19 across 84.1 IP. On top of being named the WAC Pitcher of the Year, Avitia was also named the conference's Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-WAC selection. In 2023, Avitia enjoyed similar success and worked a 3.92 ERA with 81 K to just 19 BB in 82.2 IP. He was again a First Team All-WAC selection. Avitia enjoyed an excellent summer on the Cape to the tune of a 1.63 ERA with 24 K across 27.2 IP. Avitia has a long, lanky frame at 6'4" and 200-lbs. He has a loose, whippy arm action and attacks from almost a sidearm slot. His release height is extremely low (average of 4'8" on his FB) and he is a very difficult AB for opposing hitters, especially RHH). His FB will sit in the 89-92 range (T94), but it has plenty of life through the zone with run and sink. It generated a 25% miss rate in '23, and his control and command for the pitch is top notch. Avitia has advanced feel for his low-80s CH that plays nicely off his heater. He throws it to both right and lefthanded hitters and does a nice job of killing spin. It will flash both big tumbling life and some fade to the arm side. Had a 38% miss rate this summer. 55 offering. Lastly, Avitia features a high-70s sweeping SL. Its shape is a bit inconsistent, but will also flash some depth at times. Most effective against RHH. Looked good this summer. Opposing hitters really struggled against it. His pitchability is fantastic and his sequencing of pitches is very advanced. Along with Josh Hartle, Avitia has the best control and command of any arm in the class. Avitia is on track to be a top-100 overall pick this July.

As a former NFL Scoutโ€” Arch Manning does not belong in the first round conversation at this point of his evaluation process. I know. Iโ€™ve evaluated every single snap Manning has taken in his college football career. Manning doesnโ€™t belong in the first or second round conversation at this point in the evaluation process and I challenge anyone in America to be able to produce credible and sustained evidence to the contrary. I donโ€™t care what his last name is. I scout the prospect, not the name. Iโ€™ve done the work on him and heโ€™s not turning the corner from an NFL perspective. Heโ€™s actually regressing. Heโ€™s got fluctuating and mostly low level confidence, a lot of bad body language, too much low energy vibe, his pocket awareness is suspect, his throwing mechanics and ball placement are inconsistent, heโ€™s too dependent on throwing check-downs and handing the ball off, he tends to lock in with his receivers, heโ€™s holding the ball too long, heโ€™s generally throwing with below-average-to average anticipation, heโ€™s pretty uncomfortable beyond his first reads, heโ€™s hot and cold, he seems to trust his legs more than his right arm, some of his passes have looked wobbly, heโ€™s got ball security issues, and heโ€™s being reckless at times when heโ€™s running the football. I also think heโ€™s having trouble reading pass coverage. Manning ranks among the FBS leaders with 30 passes behind the line of scrimmage this season (PFF). Yesโ€” He made those two gutsy got-to-have-it 4th down throws against Ohio State. Nothing but respect from me on those two throws ๐Ÿซก Outside of thatโ€” He looks like an uncomfortable, conservative, and inconsistent college game manager this season. Could this change? Yes. Thereโ€™s more football to be played. I put a first round grade on Manning after evaluating his spot reps on 2023 and 2024 game film and a second round grade on Manning after evaluating his 2025 game film. I was really optimistic after studying his 2023 game film. No coincidence, that was also when he recorded his fastest time to throw (PFF: 2.74 seconds). But he has not shown that level of confidence since (PFF time to throw in 2025: 2.88 seconds, PFF time to throw in 2026: 3.13 seconds). Manning has the No. 79 ranked completion percentage 63.5% (ESPN: All Conferences Player Passing Stats 2026). Thatโ€™s where heโ€™s at compared to his college quarterback peers. He โ€œworked himself upโ€ on camera before the first quarter against Tennessee and he produced his best quarter of football this season in the first quarter, but he couldnโ€™t keep himself there. He deflated for the rest of the game like a birthday balloon. ๐ŸŽˆ The stuff that heโ€™s putting on his tape this season so far isnโ€™t good enough from an NFL perspective. His energy is low. He doesnโ€™t seem to have much confidence and he canโ€™t seem to sustain it when he does suddenly get more confident for a short period of time. His pre and post snap process is too slow. To be honestโ€”it does not look like he wants to be the starting quarterback of the Texas Longhorns. Where have I had Manning on my 2027 NFL Draft Board this season? Fluctuating between a third and fourth round value over his past three games, which is either a high or low ceiling developmental prospect. To meโ€” The game vs. No. 1 Ohio State matching up against Ohio State Defensive Coordinator (and former NFL Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator) Matt Patricia was close to an โ€œNFL audition,โ€ and Manning looked like a deer in headlights for most of that game. Thatโ€™s where I am at with him as of October 3, 2026. 2023 and 2024 game film evaluation: 2025 game film evaluation: 2026 vs. Texas State game film evaluation: 2026 vs. Ohio State game film evaluation: 2026 vs. UTSA game film evaluation: 2026 vs. Tennessee game film evaluation:

NCAA Champion Michael La Sasso is now the youngest player on LIV Golf after signing for Phil Mickelsonโ€™s HyFlyers GC during the off season. He explained his decision to join the league ahead of the season opener in Riyadh: โ€œOne of the things that went into my decision, when I was 10 years old starting to play golf, like, the goal for me was to play professional golf. Having people that have been very well-known in the golf space and are so experienced, and to be able to be a part of a team that's with Phil, somebody that's had so much experience, I feel like he'll be able to answer any question that I throw at him, to have the ability to be able to ask somebody that on a daily basis, that played a very big part in it for me because not every 21-year-old has the opportunity to be able to ask questions to those people. So that was a big factor for me. โ€œI think so far, I'm so grateful that I made the decision, and I am very happy to be here.โ€ Michael also says that Caleb Surratt, who joined Jon Rahmโ€™s LIV Golf team for the 2024 season, had an impact on his decision too: โ€œSo, I've had a very good relationship with Caleb Surratt. Not many people know this, but he was committed to NC State at the same time I was. He's from North Carolina, I'm from North Carolina. Growing up, I played a lot of golf with him, and we were very close. โ€œI remember when he first came here, he stayed at my house because he was getting a swing lesson from -- we go to the same instructor. Everything that he had to say, it made me excited. From a very early start, hearing about LIV and every perk that it had and hearing him talk so highly about it, the fact that I actually had an opportunity to come out here and play, and I asked him a bunch of questions and kind of from the start, everything that he had to say and people that I talked to, everything was so, so good.โ€ He went on to say about the prospect of playing team golf: โ€œI think that makes the transition a little bit easier. I feel like my golf has kind of taken off when I've been in a team environment. For me, having a team around me was very appealing. โ€œI've played good golf as a team. I like the camaraderie, kind of the friendly banter that goes back and forth between the guys. For me to have the opportunity to come play on a team environment for a professional career, I think that's the coolest thing ever.โ€ This is Michaelโ€™s rookie season as a pro after signing for HyFlyers GC straight out of college. Normally, itโ€™s a difficult transition for young players to make, but Michael isnโ€™t short of confidence and has some lofty goals: โ€œI've talked with a bunch of people on the team. I know Phil is very big on having a team win and an individual win. Now being the youngest player in the league, I'd kind of like to come in and make a good noise, and I would like to win a couple times. I would like to see the team win for sure, as a team event. I think that would be pretty neat, as well, and kind of take it one day at a time.โ€ One thing is very clear from this interview, whatever happens during Michaelโ€™s pro debut this week, it will not be boring! Deion Sanders is the face of College Football. There are better teams. There are better programs. But win, lose or draw, no one has captivated college football like Coach Prime, Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter and Colorado. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter both made plays against Baylor when their team and Coach needed them the most. They made those plays in the biggest moments of the game because prime time players, make prime time plays in prime time moments. Deion Sanders is Prime Time and his influence rubs off on his entire program. A lot of people wondered why Coloradoโ€™s fans rushed the field after beating a 2-1 Baylor team. They rushed the field because they know what it was like before Coach Prime and his Louis luggage showed up. There were no season ticket sell outs since 1996. With Deion, season tickets are sold out for the second straight year. School applications are up 20% with a 50.5% increase in Black student applicants. Colorado made $113.2 million from its 2023 home games alone, which led to a 51% increase in revenue through media rights with Coach Prime at the helm. Before Coach Prime, no one searched for a Colorado game. Last year alone Colorado averaged 7.2 Million viewers per game, with 5 games ranked in the 25 most watched college Football games of the year. That trend continues this year as well. Coach Prime turned the worst Power 5 school in the country into one that PEOPLE CARE ABOUT. Win or lose. You watch. Cheering for or against. You watch. However, his biggest accomplishment isnโ€™t making the Colorado Buffaloes relevant again. His biggest accomplishment is empowering the young men in his program to believe in themselves, trust God and rejuvenating an entire city in the face of massive push back against his style. Deion Sanders took 2 HBCU football players in Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter and helped coach them into 2 of the best players in the country who are both in the Heisman race. Took multiple HBCU football players and helped coach them into high level Power 5 starters who have NFL futures. You see the thing about Coach Deion Sanders is he is just as misunderstood as he was as a player. With him, you earn what you get and every single player in his program knows that. On a deeper level, watching him coach his sonโ€™s is inspirational. What Deion and Lebron have done for their families and their sonโ€™s should be celebrated. As fathers they werenโ€™t just there, they were active. They didnโ€™t just have the title of baby daddy, they are fathers. Black Fatherhood has long been mischaracterized as absent and negative. Itโ€™s amazing to see Black Fatherhood today on the highest levels be characterized as present and supportive.

Luke Altmyer is one of the MOST DISRESPECTED QBs in the Big Ten heading into 2025. After a great 2024 season, this Illinois senior is getting ZERO love from analysts and so-called experts. In 2024, Altmyer was a straight-up game-changer for the Illini, leading them to a 10-3 record (tying the programโ€™s single-season wins record) and three Top-25 victories. He had 2,717 passing yards, 22 TDs, just 6 INTs, plus 217 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs, and he led the nation with FIVE game-winning drives in the final minute or overtime, including clutch TD passes at Nebraska, vs. Purdue, and at Rutgers. He was the only QB in the nation with three game-winning TD passes in the final 2 minutes/OT. He was the only QB in the nation with four TD passes in a Top-25 road win. He was 36th nationally in passing efficiency (144.90) last year, which is within 5 points of Cade Klubnik, Kyle McCord, Quinn Ewers, Jalen Milroe, and Nico Iamaleavaโ€”also tied with Fernando Mendoza. He is the first Illini QB since 2013 with 20+ TD passes in a season. All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and a Davey Oโ€™Brien Award Class of 2024 member. Despite all these things, the disrespect is still there. Analysts are leaving him completely off their Top-10 CFB QB lists and even Top-5 Big Ten QB rankings. Theyโ€™re hyping up unproven freshmen like Bryce Underwood and Malik Washington, or guys with minimal starts like Julian Sayin, over a proven QB1 like Altmyer. Even QBs who havenโ€™t matched his productionโ€”Nico Iamaleava, Dante Moore, and Dylan Raiolaโ€”are getting more shine. And get this: some NFL Draft sites donโ€™t even list Altmyer as a prospect but have Hank Brown and Malachi Singleton on their boards. Are you kidding me? This is the same Luke Altmyer who turned down a massive NIL deal to jump ship to Tennesseeโ€”a CFP team last yearโ€”because heโ€™s loyal to Illinois and believes in the Illini Luke stayed in Champaign to finish what he started. Thatโ€™s a 2025 Wooden Citizen Cup nominee and a leader who walks the walk. The Big Ten is stacked, but Altmyerโ€™s one of the top returning QBs alongside Drew Allar. The hype around untested 5-stars is always high and they'll get their shine this season. But Altmyerโ€™s 35 career TD passes (tied for 9th in Illini history), clutch gene, and third year in Lunneyโ€™s system make him a game changer. Heโ€™s not just a QB; heโ€™s the heart of a team eyeing their first-ever CFP appearance. So, to the analysts, talking heads, and draft sites sleeping on Luke Altmyer: WAKE UP. This man deserves more respect, and he has a chance to show everyone why sleeping on QB1 in Champaign is a huge mistake. Letโ€™s ride, Illini Nation! #Illini #BigTen #AltmyerSZN

High level Alabama football recruit gets busted for DUI and drug possession. He thought he was living that thug life, but cried like a baby once the cuffs went on. Tony Mitchell was the envy of the college football world. A 5-star recruit from Alabaster, Alabama, he had just enrolled early at the University of Alabamaโ€”the pinnacle of the sport. But during a spring break trip to Holmes County, Florida, it all nearly evaporated in a cloud of tire smoke. โ€‹Florida deputies clocked Mitchellโ€™s vehicle traveling at a staggering 141 MPH. When they finally initiated the stop, the smell of burnt marijuana gave them probable cause for a search. What they found wasn't just a "college mistake": โ€‹226 grams of marijuana (about half a pound). โ€‹A loaded handgun tucked between the passenger seat and center console. โ€‹$7,040 in cold cash, bundled in the car. โ€‹Digital scales, typically used for weighing and selling product. โ€‹The most haunting part of the bodycam footage isn't the high-speed chase; it's the aftermath. As the reality of the situation set in, the "tough guy" exterior completely shattered. Mitchell was seen crying like a baby once the handcuffs were clicked into place. โ€‹He knew instantly that he hadn't just broken the law; he had broken his contract with Nick Saban. In the footage, he can be heard pleading with deputies, at one point even asking if he could get off if his passenger took the fall. It was the sound of a young man realizing he might have just traded a multi-million dollar NFL future for a felony record. โ€‹Nick Saban didnโ€™t mince words. He suspended Mitchell indefinitely, famously stating: โ€‹"Thereโ€™s no such thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Youโ€™ve got to be responsible for who youโ€™re with, what youโ€™re doing, and the situations you put yourself in." โ€‹Mitchellโ€™s legal team managed to secure a pre-trial intervention. He pleaded no contest to the felony drug charge and was sentenced to three years of probation and 100 hours of community service. โ€‹His football journey since then has been a whirlwind of "second chances": โ€‹2023: Reinstated at Alabama, but saw limited action primarily on special teams. โ€‹2024: Transferred to East Mississippi Community College (EMCC)โ€”the legendary "Last Chance U"โ€”to rehabilitate his image and game. โ€‹2025: Returned to the SEC with Mississippi State, where he recorded 25 tackles and started to look like his old self. โ€‹2026 (Current): In a massive rivalry twist, he entered the portal again in January and is currently suiting up for Ole Miss for his senior year. โ€‹Tony Mitchell serves as the ultimate "cautionary tale" for the NIL era. He had the money, the talent, and the platform, but nearly lost it all in one evening of "panicked" decisions. While he has managed to claw his way back into a starting role in the SEC, that video of him in the back of a squad car remains a permanent digital scar on a promising career.
