A 3 year old girl playing on a Greek beach was blown out to sea by a sudden gale force wind and current. Her parents and lifeguards couldn't catch up with her and called the coast guard, who in turn contacted a nearby ferry. The girl was saved and reunited with her parents.

A Russian man led police in Florida on a dramatic marine chase for over an hour, after stealing a luxury yacht worth $2.5m. The man boarded the 68-foot vessel on Monday afternoon, before attempting the daring escape from the marina. Officers from Martin County ground and marine units were forced to ram the yacht into nearby mangroves in order to ground it. The man refused to surrender when deputies boarded the vessel, and tear gas was used to force him to come out.

On 27 June 2022, a crane was loading a 25 tonnes pressurized chemical storage container, containing chlorine, onto the container ship Forest 6 at the port of Aqaba, Jordan. The cranes' cable system failed. This accident caused thirteen deaths and 265 injuries at the port.

This video shows a Belgian Boeing Jetfoil departing Ostend. The Boeing 929 Jetfoil was developed by Boeing Marine Systems as a high-speed passenger hydrofoil that applied aerospace engineering principles to marine transport. Drawing on technology from earlier military hydrofoil projects such as the Tucumcari, the first commercial Jetfoil was launched in April 1974. These vessels featured fully submerged foils with automatic computer-controlled stabilization systems, gas-turbine engines, and waterjet propulsion. They could carry between roughly 250 and 316 passengers at cruising speeds of 42 to 50 knots while remaining remarkably stable in moderate seas. Boeing built approximately 26 to 28 of these craft at its Renton, Washington facility between 1974 and 1985 before exiting the hydrofoil business and licensing the design to Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan. The two Belgian examples, Princesse Clementine and Prinses Stephanie, entered service with Regie voor Maritiem Transport in 1981 on the Ostend–Dover route, where they reduced the crossing time to about one hour and forty minutes and operated until 1997.

Meteor hydrofoils are Soviet high-speed river passenger vessels (Projects 342/342E), designed in the late 1950s under Rostislav Alexeyev. These aluminum-hulled craft rise onto underwater foils, reaching speeds of around 65–77 km/h while carrying up to about 120 passengers. Over 400 were built and operated widely across the USSR and exported to nearly 20 countries. Some originals still run tourist routes (such as St. Petersburg to Peterhof), and modernized successors like the Meteor 120R continue the lineage today. (TT ilyabhy)
