🔵 UPDATE 🔵 A woman is recovering following an altercation that occurred last week in the northwest community of Edgemont, which resulted in the death of 1 man. 📍 At approx. 4:15 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, we were called to the 0 to 100 block of Edgemont Court N.W., for reports of an altercation inside a residence. Upon arrival, police located a man in his 40s in medical distress, as well as a woman in her 30s who had sustained injuries. The man was pronounced deceased on scene & the woman was transported to hospital in stable condition. A witness was also located at the scene who was uninjured. After a thorough investigation, police believe that the man had lured the woman to the residence under a false pretence of a property showing. While in the residence, the man attacked the woman without provocation. An altercation ensued, which resulted in the death of the man. The woman was able to escape the residence & get the attention of neighbours, who called 911. The man & woman were not involved in a domestic relationship. An autopsy was conducted today, Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, by The Office of the Chief Medical, which identified the man as 48-year-old Shahbaz AHMED. As investigators have determined that the woman was acting in self-defence, AHMED’s death has been deemed a non-culpable homicide & no charges will be laid in this incident. “An incident of this nature is extremely rare & deeply unsettling for the victim, her family & all Calgarians,” says Acting Staff Sergeant Scott Guterson of the CPS Homicide Unit. “The victim’s actions undoubtedly saved her life & our thoughts are with her as she continues to recover.” To protect the privacy of the victim, no further details will be released. Today, we are sharing a message from Parker's parents. The audio for this video was recorded before Parker was found. Following the heartbreaking discovery of their son, Parker's parents asked that we still share their message publicly as a way of expressing their gratitude for the overwhelming support they received from Calgarians throughout the search. During the most difficult time of their lives, they were surrounded by kindness, compassion, and a community that stood beside them every step of the way. The body of a child has been located during today’s search for Parker. If the body is Parker’s, it is believed he entered a culvert in a green space on the west side of Deerfoot Trail and travelled up a pipe and into a network of tunnels on the east side of the roadway. 📍 On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, we received a tip from a member of the public who had located a shoe, believed to have belonged to Parker. Search teams recovered the other shoe at the edge of a culvert. It is believed the shoes had been washed down the pipe some time after the initial search. As a result, the pipe system was searched by specialized teams from the Calgary Fire Department and a child’s body was located. This green space area contains incredibly harsh terrain and is part of a water environment. As with any search involving water, environmental conditions can influence what can be observed and when evidence may become visible. During the past two weeks, we had conducted searches of the area for Parker, however, there was no evidence located that would suggest a more thorough search of the area was required. This is not the outcome anyone hoped for. Like so many others, we hoped Parker would be brought home safely. Our thoughts are with Parker's family, loved ones and all those affected by this devastating loss. We know people across the world have spent the past 13 days sharing Parker's information, searching for him and holding onto hope for his safe return. We extend our sincere gratitude to the thousands of community members, volunteers, partner agencies and members of the media who assisted in the search effort. The compassion, dedication and support shown throughout this investigation have been extraordinary. ℹ️ At this time, there is no evidence that criminality was involved in Parker's disappearance. We are launching a 90-day Drone as First Responder (DFR) trial to evaluate how remotely piloted drones can support emergency response & public safety. ℹ️ The trial will assess the effectiveness of drones in improving situational awareness, supporting operational decision-making & enhancing public & officer safety. Beginning Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, 2 Skydio X10 drones will be deployed to select incidents in northeast & southeast Calgary. The drones will provide responding members with real-time aerial information to help them better understand unfolding incidents & determine the most appropriate response. 💬 “The Drone as First Responder model has been successfully implemented by other police agencies & has shown potential to enhance emergency response. This trial will help us determine how the technology can support public safety in Calgary by providing responding officers with valuable information about an incident, often before they arrive on scene.” — Supt. Jodi Gach of the CPS Operational Support Division. The drones are deployed from a secure location in northeast Calgary. When an eligible call for service is identified, a sworn CPS member trained as a drone pilot can remotely deploy a drone to the scene. In some cases, the drone may arrive before responding officers, providing an early view of the incident that can help members identify risks, locate individuals & make informed operational decisions. 🔎 MEDIA AVAILABILITY - MISSING CHILD - PARKER 🔍 Today, investigators released a new CCTV image of Parker that was captured on Thursday, July 16, at 12:52 p.m., in the 5000 to 6000 block of Travis Crescent N.E. We are hopeful the image will help generate new leads & assist members of the public in recognizing Parker & reporting information about his whereabouts. Since Parker was reported missing, the CPS has dedicated significant resources to locating him. More than 200 CPS members have assisted in the search effort, including investigators, patrol officers & specialized units working around the clock to follow up on leads & search areas where Parker may have travelled. We have received approx. 30 tips & have reviewed, or are currently reviewing, roughly 50 hours of CCTV, residential security camera & dashcam footage. Officers have also conducted extensive door-to-door inquiries & continue to identify, collect & review additional video footage & evidence related to Parker's movements. We are hopeful the image will help generate new leads & assist members of the public in recognizing Parker & reporting information about his whereabouts. Since Parker was reported missing, the CPS has dedicated significant resources to locating him. ❌ SEIZED ❌ We have charged 8 individuals & seized 18 firearms, ammunition, stolen vehicles, cash & approx. $58,500 worth of drugs following an 11-month investigation into an alleged drug-trafficking & organized-crime network operating in Calgary. 📍In September 2025, police became aware of a man believed to be involved in drug trafficking. Our Organized Crime Enforcement Team began investigating & identified a network believed to be engaged in drug trafficking, firearms offences, vehicle re-vinning & prescription fraud. Throughout the investigation, officers wrote 74 judicial authorizations & executed 15 search warrants. 📌 In December 2025, search warrants in Delacour & Chestermere led to the seizure of cash, forged prescription documents, prescription medication & a radio-frequency jammer. Ausama MOHAMED & Bonnie LEBLANC were charged with fraud-related offences. 📌 In March 2026, search warrants executed on 2 Calgary residences & 3 vehicles resulted in the seizure of a loaded gun, ammunition, cash & drugs. Some of the drugs were located individually wrapped & concealed in a vehicle’s door panelling. Mohammed SALIMI & Omed SALIMI were charged with drug-trafficking offences. 📌 The next day, a traffic stop by the Gang Suppression Team led to the seizure of a loaded gun, ammunition, drugs & brass knuckles, all concealed behind a vehicle panel. Jayson McCORMACK was charged with firearms, drug-trafficking, weapons, resisting arrest & proceeds of crime offences. Later in March 2026, with help from the RCMP, police searched a Rocky View County property, a Calgary apartment & 2 vehicles. The long-lasting impact of having a full name published on social media can last forever & to ensure the well-being of those located safe, we will only be issuing social media posts with first names, descriptors & photos. Sadly, not all missing persons return to their families & loved ones. To ensure grieving families & friends can share the information on their own terms, moving forward all missing persons updates will only include whether they were located. Many times, missing people are located due to a social media post & we thank you for your continued assistance in our investigations.
