The tragically fateful day was March 10, 2019. Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 was bound from Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. Minutes after takeoff, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft crashed near the town of Bishoftu less than 30 kilometers from Addis Ababa. All 149 passengers and 8 crew members on board died. 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝟑𝟎𝟐 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬’ 𝟖𝟎-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲. Boeing tried to blame the Ethiopian flight crew for the accident, but the US National Transportation Safety Board determined the Ethiopia flight crew did what they had to do by the Boeing book, but were still unable to control the plane. Ethiopian Airlines Captain Yared Getachew, with over 8,000 flight hours, was the youngest to serve as a Boeing 737 captain in the airline's history. Captain Yared and his co-pilot struggled as the 737 Max 8’s systems repeatedly forced the nose of the plane down. The reason for the crash was Boeing’s depraved and corrupt conduct resulting in the “deadliest corporate crime in U.S. history.” On June 18, 2024, a US federal judge ordered release of confidential documents from a civil case that could result in criminal prosecution of Boeing officials. There are those who try to sully and scandalize the name of Ethiopia Airlines. They should be careful as there are serious civil and criminal liabilities for slander and defamation under Ethiopian law. 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐭🐾 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦.
