🔥How to corkscrew… Step 1: Attack the primary blocker It's dang near impossible to defeat a double if you take on more than one blocker. But instead of punching through the blocker's chest, grab the cloth on his shoulder pads. This will give you the ability to turn his body. Step 2: Twist & split Now that you have a hold of the blocker's shoulders... ...twist your body into the gap so you can split the double. Step 3: Escape & square up Violently shrug the blocker off of you to escape his grip... ...and square up so you can make the play.

🔥How to execute a Steeler Stunt Step 1: Dip and Step To get to your assigned gap it’s critical to avoid contact on your first step. To accomplish this step lateral and dip your shoulder to reduce the surface area your opponent can use to seal you from your gap. Step 2: Read the adjacent blocker Transfer your eyes from the primary blocker to the adjacent blocker so you can react appropriately to his block. On this play, since the adjacent blocker pulls the proper reaction is to get vertical. Step 3: 2nd Step Vertical In order to disrupt the pin and pull you need to get vertical. This will put you in the path of the RB and in prime position for a TFL.

🔥Young D-Linemen have no clue how to use their eyes. They peek in the backfield thinking it will help them make plays, when actually… …it gives their opponent full access to their chest. Instead use your eyes to guide your hands into your opponent’s chest… …THEN peek in your gap to locate the ball. Here’s a drill from Tony Davis - UCA to practice this skill.

🔥Why is the long arm so effective? It’s simply because one arm is longer than two. By stabbing with one arm you create separation between you and your opponent… …and prevent him from punching you.

🔥5 drills to destroy doubles #1 Pad Punch When you feel pressure from the adjacent blocker, combat his force with your hips. #2 Sled Punch The key to defeating a double team is to split it. Here’s a great drill to help you attack 1 man, get skinny and throw off. #3 Double splits Splitting doubles can be super difficult. The double splits drill helps simulate the force you’ll need to apply into your primary blocker to ultimately split the double team. #4 Punch recover When aligned in an even technique (0, 2, 4) the key is to survive the collision by staying square, absorbing force and transitioning to the crease. The punch recover drill does a great job of simulating this. #5 Hip Swivels Use hip swivels to practice wedging your hips between the primary and adjacent blocker.

🔥Unpopular opinion… D-Linemen should never do max squats. As impressive as it is to squat 800 pounds, this type of weight lifting often leads to injury and develops stiffness. Why? 95% of linemen don’t have the flexibility to do execute proper squat technique. Thoughts?

Honest question here. Is lining up these guys head up w/o the big inflatable ball not sufficient? Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like this drill simulates fundamentals very well.
