This evening, I observed a brief walk through small street and along Marble Towers. Last week the South Gauteng High Court ordered the marble Towers owners to urgently bring their premises into compliance with legal standards. Additionally, the court instructed Goldenrod Group to cease any further construction activities.

Residents living in the inner city have spoken. The demolition of illegal structures on Small Street is long overdue. The law must be upheld, and anyone who defies it will face the full extent of the law. The honeymoon phase is over. WE ARE NOR FOLDING

Yesterday, we removed illegal structures attached to a church building in Small Street during our by-law enforcement operation. Today, we returned to investigate what was happening inside the building and discovered that shops were operating from the church basement. This demonstrates the level of lawlessness and illegal occupation taking place in parts of our inner city. We will continue to act decisively to enforce by-laws, restore order, and reclaim Johannesburg precinct by precinct. No space in our city can be allowed to operate outside the law.

Residents of Johannesburg, today we are conducting a revenue-collection operation in Berea, extending to Hillbrow, Joubert Park, and parts of Braamfontein. This morning alone, we are targeting debt amounting to about R200 million. These operations will become a permanent weekly feature across Johannesburg as we intensify efforts to improve the City’s financial sustainability. We are clear that revenue leakages remain one of the key challenges facing the City, and we are committed to ensuring that all those who owe the City pay for services rendered. #JoburgServices #RevenueCollection

We are on Small Street with members of the Mayoral Committee and senior City of Johannesburg officials, leading a High-Impact Service Delivery Programme designed to strengthen by-law enforcement, eliminate illegal trading, maximize revenue collection, and enhance environmental health and regulatory compliance.

Solutions for Johannesburg won't come from political theatrics. ZILLE isn't here to genuinely tackle Johannesburg’s challenges or include all voices in the process. Her record reveals a governance style that prioritised affluent suburbs, leaving many townships in Cape Town to endure persistent inequality.History pages are never empty.

[WARNING: SOME VIEWERS MAY FIND THE LANGUAGE OFFENSIVE] City of Johannesburg officials conducted a multi-departmental bylaw enforcement operation in Ormonde, continuing their efforts to crack down on illegal water, sewer, and electricity connections. During the operation, it was found that Lakewood Hotel owes more than R19 million in electricity bills, and several property encroachments were also uncovered. Initially, city officials faced some resistance upon arriving in Ormonde but managed to gain access and carry out inspections. Further investigations uncovered a water bypass, an electricity bypass, and the lack of approved building plans. The City now plans to move forward with a forensic audit of the property.

The burst in Douglasdale was triggered by a steel pipe that had repeatedly failed over the past three years. Johannesburg Water responded swiftly to the incident on Sunday, 29 March, completing repairs that very evening. Following careful monitoring of the leak repair, they proceeded with backfilling last night. The team is now on site, working diligently to clean up and restore normalcy while ensuring everyone’s safety. #JoburgUpdates

CURRENTLY UNFOLDING IN KENSINGTON: hijacked buildings in Johannesburg expose the city's struggles while also presenting a chance for renewal and action. For years, abandoned and neglected structures have been exploited by criminal gangs, turning into unsafe, overcrowded spaces lacking basic services jeopardising lives and compromising residents' dignity.
