How the VFW just screwed over combat wounded veterans and surviving spouses: Republicans in Congress (except for 4 who caved to VFW threats) finally got together for the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act (TCAVA), which contains multiple good pieces of legislation. For instance the Major Richard Star Act, something the VFW has demanded for years, and allows medically retired, combat-injured veterans to receive both military retired pay and VA disability compensation. It would have also eliminated remarriage penalties for Survivor Benefit Plan beneficiaries under 55, and restored TRICARE access to those who lost it through remarriage. And plenty more good things on top of that. To pay for it, the bill simply reduced future disability benefits for sleep apnea and tinnitus, some of the most abused ratings that cost taxpayers billions and can’t be connected to service in a meaningful or scientific way. Tinnitus, currently rated at 10%, was facing a reduction not because it doesn’t exist, but because we wanted to address it for what it is: secondary to something else we can help the veteran with like hearing loss or a TBI. Similarly, sleep apnea gets an automatic 50% rating if you’re diagnosed and prescribed a CPAP. That’s insane. When I got out, the loss of my eye was only 30%. This bill reduces sleep apnea to 10%. This reduction didn’t claim veterans don’t experience sleep apnea, but if your CPAP effectively manages your symptoms, we can categorize it different than other disabling conditions. Oh, by the way, the VA has wanted to reduce these ratings since 2022 and doesn’t even need Congress to do it! If the VA does it now and we don’t get TCAVA, future veterans will lose those ratings anyway and have none of these positive reforms to fall back on. Thank you, VFW, for screwing over current and future veterans and their spouses!

Thursday was National PTSD Awareness Day, and you’ve got to hear this. First off, psychedelic treatments show an approximately 80% remission rate for PTSD. That’s huge. Saves lives and money. That's why I passed a law for the Department of Defense to conduct clinical trials on these therapies. The data continues to come in and it’s overwhelmingly positive. But now we’re hiting a roadblock. An external advisory board, influenced by ICER, a think tank, rejected the therapy proposal. These technocrats think they know better than scientists. Their job is to say NO and support the status quo that makes Big Healthcare plenty of money, let’s be honest. Worse, groups like Psymposia, which have insulted our veterans, oppose this therapy too. They think psychedelic treatment for vets “perpetuates white supremacism.” But there's hope. These groups aren’t the FDA. The FDA hasn’t actually made the decision yet. Even if they deny this application, there are many more coming and because of my legislation the DoD has to do clinical trials on these therapies. We must support the science and push past these activist groups. Let's save lives.

El Mencho was killed today by the Mexican military in Jalisco. He died like a dog. I called him and El Mayo out by name in 2022. Now he’s dead and El Mayo is in a US jail cell. Cause for celebration—absolutely—but not a victory lap. Now, more than ever, it is critical to keep the pressure on the Mexican cartels.

This was reportedly a focused strike on hardened infrastructure in Isfahan, a nuclear facility, using bunker-buster bombs. Let’s review the geopolitics: Peaceful nuclear aspirations don’t need to be built under bunkers. Strike now or deal with an Islamist version of North Korea later. And yes, they were actively rebuilding the facilities after the first strike, Operation Midnight Hammer. These simple facts continue to get lost in the debate over this incredibly bold foreign policy action. The action against Iran is long term thinking. The easy political thing to do would be to agree to a crappy deal and move on. That would be short term thinking.

This is one of the more aggressive videos I’ve ever had to post. You really need to see it all the way to the end. You’ll see a United agent grab the dog and personal property, and you’ll hear the shocking recording of my conversation with that agent’s supervisor (the VP of Operations) here in Houston. I fully expect United Airlines will attempt to retaliate against me. They’ve already sent me multiple veiled threats regarding my ability to travel in the future. Because they have a monopoly on the routes I need to DC, I don’t have much choice but to fly them. I honestly did not want to post this. I tried to resolve this privately. I know there are good people at United. But these two individuals need to be called out. And their terrible corporate leadership needs to answer a simple question: do you condone this behavior? Instead of doing anything to accept responsibility for their bad behavior or try to correct what is clearly inappropriate and problematic behavior, United, through its representative and lawyers, have threatened me personally and taken an irrationally hostile approach to this incident. Many of you have shared your stories of being mistreated by an airline agent on a power trip. It’s time to start considering legislation that protects passengers. These airlines took tens of billions of dollars from taxpayers. United took $10.9 B and owes us better than this. Details forthcoming. This isn’t ending anytime soon.

This is the beginning of the war against the most violent and deranged cartel in Mexico: El Cartel Jalisco Nuevo Generación. Or CJNG. Their leader “El Mencho” was killed today in a raid by Mexican Special Forces using US intelligence. These elite forces train with us regularly. Over the past year most of the attention has been on the Sinaloa cartel. This is a much needed refocusing on CJNG. Both are major traffickers of fentanyl, but CJNG is more like ISIS than the mafia. They are ruthlessly violent, currently terrorizing all parts of Mexico to intimidate the government back into submission. Congress needs to actually pay attention. I’ve authored a dozen pieces of legislation to support our military, intelligence, and law enforcement efforts in Mexico. It’s time for Committees to take them up. We finally have a solid partner in the Mexican Government to work with. We are finally focusing huge intelligence collection efforts on the cartels (due in large part to my amendment to FISA two years ago authorizing collection on the cartels). We are finally taking them on. It won’t be over soon. But it’s about time we started. 🧵

.PBS just dropped a new episode of “Breaking the Deadlock.” It’s worth watching. The premise: a group of people with very different political views work through hypothetical scenarios about power, government, and the Constitution. This was the first question: you’re sitting at a stoplight when an FBI raid unfolds in front of you, and a suspect runs to your car asking for help. What do you do? Here’s how I answered – and why I think the safest thing you can do is stay out of the way and let law enforcement do its job.

We just passed legislation out of the House that will separate TikTok from the Chinese Communist Party. You‘ve probably heard lies that this bill is a Trojan horse, or that it doesn’t solve every problem on planet earth. The truth is, this bill just says that TikTok can’t be owned by our enemies. I voted hell yes. The current owner of Tik Tok, ByteDance, is a Chinese company. They’re bound by Chinese surveillance law to give American data to the CCP. And oh, by the way — the CCP even has board seat on ByteDance. Voting against this bill is a vote for the Chinese Communist Party. The opponents of this bill aren’t defending free speech, they’re defending Chinese access to American data and American minds. Not a good look.

Tucker likes to have friendly conversations with bad people. When he realizes that he’s talking to Iranian intelligence officials that we already collect on, he pretends to be a victim of “spying.” He’s an idiot, and he thinks you’re an idiot too. You always need a warrant to “wire tap” any American citizen. Full stop. But if you’re communicating with a criminal and that criminal’s phone is tapped (because a judge authorized it), then your conversation is now part of that investigation. If the police also want to tap *your* phone, they would need a warrant. FISA is no different. Tucker knows all this but his favorite grift is to play the victim. I’m surprised he hasn’t blamed the Jews yet. Give it time.

We’re about 24 hours removed from the Mexican military operation targeting El Mencho. Here’s what we’re seeing: CJNG is lashing out across Mexico. They’re setting up roadblocks to restrict government movement and targeting Mexican security forces in retaliation. They want the Mexican people to be scared into submission and beg their government to leave cartels alone. They want uninformed American online influencers to also be scared into submission (I called one out on my stories, for instance). This isn’t just revenge. It’s a power struggle within the cartels. Cartel Lieutenants are competing to consolidate control through violence. Expect instability in the near term. Roadblocks, intimidation, targeted attacks. A new leader possibly emerges or they remain in competing factions. Either way, this is what a criminal terrorist organization under pressure looks like. And we will see if Mexican leadership and the Mexican people cave to it or finally decide to fight it.

If my 2-year-old daughter told me she identifies as monocular, and I took her to get her eye removed to "affirm" that identity, I’d be thrown in jail for child abuse. And rightfully so. My recently passed bill — H.R 498, the Do No Harm in Medicaid Act, puts an end to funding for irreversible youth* gender transition surgeries* in Medicaid.

Latest episode of Hold These Truths with Jeremy Boreing is a deep dive into the conspiracy theories brain-rotting a shocking number of Americans. The Charlie Kirk assassination theories pushed by grifters like Candace Owens are among the most disgusting examples. Bottom line: Charlie’s murderer was ID’d by his own parents. He confessed. His DNA was on the murder weapon. But facts don’t matter to social media grifters who have no idea what they’re talking about. They just overwhelm their audience with one “what about” claim after another, counting on their audience to confuse the volume of allegations with evidence. It’s a multi-million-dollar attention grift – and it’s easy to see through once you understand their tactics.

Senator Ben Sasse, nearing the end of his life with the utmost grace and dignity, reflects on the foundations of patriotism. It begins with the devotion to your family, your neighbors, your faith, and your community. That’s the core idea of the American spirit - and the source of all the blessings America has today.
