Alberta is showing what Canada’s future looks like when innovation, entrepreneurship and strong communities come together. This week in Calgary and Airdrie, I saw Canadian ideas being put to work: advancing AI at Amii, improving energy operations at AbaData, expanding access to healthcare through PurposeMed and building 131 affordable homes at Abrio Place. I also met with local leaders and businesses about what fast-growing communities need to keep building. Canada’s future won’t be built in one lab, one sector or one city. It will be built across the country by people turning ideas into opportunity and building stronger communities. That’s how we build Canada strong. 🇨🇦 L’Alberta montre à quoi ressemblera l’avenir du Canada lorsque l’innovation, l’entrepreneuriat et la vitalité des communautés s’unissent. Cette semaine, à Calgary et à Airdrie, j’ai vu des idées canadiennes se concrétiser : l’avancement de l’IA chez Amii, l’optimisation des opérations énergétiques chez AbaData, l’amélioration de l’accès aux soins de santé grâce à PurposeMed et la construction de 131 logements abordables à Abrio Place. J’ai également échangé avec des dirigeants et des entreprises de la région sur les besoins des communautés en pleine croissance pour poursuivre leur développement. L’avenir du Canada ne se bâtira pas dans un seul laboratoire, un seul secteur ou une seule ville. Il se construira aux quatre coins du pays, grâce à des personnes qui transforment des idées en opportunités et renforcent nos communautés. C’est ainsi que nous bâtissons un Canada fort.

Tonight, Mayor Olivia Chow and I came to Nathan Phillips Square to light the Hanukkiah and welcome the first night of Chanukah — a festival of light, hope, and resilience. But our joy tonight is tempered by deep sorrow. My heart is heavy for the families and communities affected by the horrific attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, where people gathered to celebrate the same holy occasion were met with unimaginable violence. Every Jewish community around the world — and right here in Toronto — deserves to feel safe and secure as they celebrate. We will fight to ensure the community is free from hate and danger. On this first night of Chanukah, we stand in solidarity with Jewish communities in Australia and around the world. We mourn those lost, hold the injured and their loved ones in our thoughts, and reject in every form the hatred that seeks to silence joy and spread fear. At the Empire Club of Canada’s event “Building the Economy of the Future and The AI Nation,” I heard one message loud and clear: if we want to be strong in AI and quantum, we have to move—fast. We have the energy. We have the research. We even have the clean energy advantage. But those ingredients don’t mean much without urgency, execution, and the courage to build systems that reflect Canadian values. Children are growing up online. Their personal information shouldn't be treated like just another business asset. That's why the Protecting Privacy and Consumer Data Act gives children's information stronger protection. Because a child's data should never be treated like ordinary data, and families deserve confidence that it is being handled responsibly. 🇨🇦 Les enfants grandissent dans un monde connecté. It is about people being able to belong in their communities, workplaces and schools without fear or discrimination.
