But what about passive aiming!? But what about gas masks?! It’s doable, and not that bad. Does having a riser help? Yes. What I’ve come around to, is that the performance trade off is not worth sacrificing control in 90% of my shooting for a small convenience in 10%.

This post raised some questions. So let’s talk about rifles and vehicles, and why I do it this way. Context is everything. If you are just throwing your rifle in your truck to transport it, or because you might want to pop a coyote on your property at a moments notice, this may not apply to you. Do with the information what you will. FWIW, I generally don’t roll around with a rifle in my truck at all. Maybe if I lived in a place with less vehicle break ins, I would. I don’t subscribe to the notion of “using my pistol to fight to my rifle” as a rule of thumb, but there are times where I will roll with more heavy ordinance for various reasons.

IMO, the helmet should be a grab-and-go piece of kit. Here’s how:

Got to witness 2 D60’s take a dump this weekend. Heat index was over 100, and the Auto Rifle was running VERY hot. Get out and use your stuff hard. You’ll be surprised how many things end up failing under hard use. I’m not saying d60’s are trash, they just don’t hold up under these circumstances. Josh talks about it here on his IG

I hate sling QDs. If you also hate sling QDs, here is a solution that works for me.

The "Real Dicken Drill" Contrary to the initial narrative, Dicken took 4 shots at 40, hitting 2. He closed to 25 yards, firing 4 more shots, all hits. He then closed to 7 yards, firing his last 2 shots, both hits. This is not less impressive than shooting 10 shots at 40yds, its more impressive. He took the initiative to take the fight to the enemy, and in doing that reduced the risk to innocents around him. Fantastic work. 8 A, 2 C, 15.4 seconds, 2.99 hf

Ok first impressions using the Trinity + comparison to MAWL C1+ Power: Very much on par with each other. The Trinity comes with instructions on how to jailbreak it, so it’s not playing by the same FDA rules as the MAWL. It’s slightly more powerful. Switchology: The MAWL still reigns supreme, but not by much. I’m very impressed with the Trinitys ability to switch between wide and narrow illuminator on the fly. While not as dummy proof and instant as the MAWL, it’s still good. I always talk about Switchology with lasers, because in real used it’s incredibly important to be able to manipulate your laser and illuminator to fit your environment. Raw power means nothing if it can’t be used (or more often it hinders you) Durability and zero retention will be something we discover over time. I can say from personal experience the MAWL has been a tank. It’s taken countless impacts, drops, direct impacts with sims, cold, freezing, submersion, extreme heat, and has never once failed or even stuttered. I HIGHLY doubt the trinity will match it, but I can’t expect it to at 1/10th the cost. BE Meyers make an incredible laser, and actually make it here in America. It’s the gold standard for a reason. And I’ll always support that. That being said, for the average prepared citizen, it’s probably worth considering options that are more affordable. We are finally getting lasers that meet a level of acceptable performance at an affordable price point, and that’s exciting.

Stealth Arms Platypus thoughts after 8 months and 4500 rounds. I had been thinking about custom ordering this gun back in the spring, but was waffling, then I found one in a gun store, like 90% of how I would have ordered it anyways, and said "why not". Commander length, full rail, all black, ambi safety (would have done non-ambi if i was custom ordering) Price: $1550 What is it? A double stack 1911 that takes Glock magazines. I have mounted a Trijicon RCR, and a X300. Reliability: has been exceptional. I dont recall a single gun related malfunction. has chewed up every grain weight of 9mm, critical defense, fmj, gold dot, etc. I have used Glock 17, 19, and 24-round magazines, Magpul 17 and 21-round magazines. No feeding issues. all mags drop free. Issues: One issue with the slide stop making a mark in the slide stop notch. Returned to Stealth Arms, they took care if it, a brand new slide fitted to my barrel, in under a week. Pics attached. Shooting impressions: Fantastic. Feels like a 2011. Trigger is great, im no trigger expert, but its light enough to give me lots of confidence on low percentage shots. The gun tracks well and recoil is obviously minimal. Is it worth the price? Thats up to you. I have really enjoyed using it. The fact it takes glock magazines is really not a marketing gimmick. I need 10-15 magazines for any given gun so I'm not wasting time at the range loading mags. for a 2011 thats going to be another $1000-$1500. It was 0 dollars for the Platypus. Combine not needing new mag pouches, and the relatively modest cost of the gun, and its a lot of value. I'm not sponsored lmao Stealth Arms

BAD Levers- Its ok if you don't like them. But to claim they are a safety risk, is the same logic as saying the magazine release is a safety risk. The finger does NOT enter the trigger guard when activating the lever, unless you are doing it VERY wrong. Example:
