It's that time of the year – Apple again uses Three.js for their new iPhone Duo, and we can learn a lot from how they did it! And now, we have the mighty Needle Inspector, the swiss army knife for understanding and editing 3D scenes on the web 🦾 Let's take a look! 1/12

I made a mini browser that sees the web like an AI Introducing: md-browse. free, open source Go make your websites and docs AI-friendly!

WebXR on iOS?! yes please! I'm super happy, we finally found a smooth, seamless way, just works, no installation needed WebXR on iOS with Needle, Three.js and all other frameworks! Go try some examples RIGHT NOW on Look! so nice:

anyways, our web 3D viewer is probably the app with the highest information density I ever made. it shows EVERYTHING.

Designing glassware in the browser - in realtime - with physical thickness simulation made with Three.js and Needle

Experimented with physics / shadows / room tracking on Meta Quest Pro a while ago. Super fun to have things float in space and be "grounded" through matching light and shadows. #madewithneedle Three.js Needle #AugmentedReality #WebXR

Responsive 2D + 2.5D + 3D in one screen 🙂

There's quite a few parts here! #VisionPro

We did it!! – image-to-3D, locally in your browser! ✅ We put TRELLIS on the web ✅ 100% local on your machine ✅ Generation takes 1-3 minutes (depends on your hardware) You can try it here! Go to "generate" on the left & drop image Quality is quite decent 😀

What if... rigging and skinning were effortless Solving skin weights, IK chains, deformation, floor contacts, volumes, … on the GPU, with Three.js

Casually rendering ~a hundred million triangles, in the browser. All thanks to Sunag's cool Nanite-style renderer for Three.js. I've added GLB-to-meshlet and PBR rendering to it, very exciting to see where this is going!

Woooow I was actually looking into automatic rigging but look what happened! Feels kinda like puppetwarp but for 3D – so fun! Works on heavy AI meshes too

Now available: Mesh Baker! The newest addition to the Needle fam. 🥐 heavy 3D → ready for prod 🥞 one click, few seconds 🍥 bakes normal maps, AO, ... 🧁 100% local, on the web, powered by Three.js Learn more in 🧵! highpoly→lowpoly workflow, normal maps, baking, ...

Psst! Wanna take a look at the new Apple Vision Pro headset, in 3D? #WWDC23 🤫

Some promising experiments to make tooling for gaussian splats! Objects can be cut out / masked, and multiple captures can be combined together. Captures with Luma, viewer by Aras Pranckevičius 🇺🇦🇱🇹

And just like that, we suddenly have a better Google Earth right inside Unity. Wow.

3,200,000 → 3,000 triangles, 3 SECONDS for the full bake. In the browser, with Three.js and Needle. Superb normals+ao quality now too... such a great tool to have! Coming soon! Stay tuned!

I'm super happy with my experiments for high→lowpoly workflows, right in the browser Fast, snappy, supergood quality, already replaces Nomad, Blender, xNormal, Substance for me 😇 powered by Three.js, Arseny Kapoulkine meshopt, Garrett Johnson mesh-bvh and lots of other ideas

Zero frame drops Loads 10x faster than EXR 95% less GPU memory Look at me clicking through 4k environments in Three.js and Needle like it's nothing Stay tuned for more!

The accuracy of this pen in VR and AR is crazy🤏🐜

Nice rendering effect: fading in Depth of Field when being closer to objects Needle #webdev Three.js

Big news for glTF and USD! I'm very happy to announce: Asset Explorer A web app that will help to bridge the gaps between glTF 3D and Pixar's OpenUSD. ✨File feature info ✨Download USDZ conversions ✨View USDZ in the web ✨AR on Android, iOS, visionOS 🛠️WIP!
